Wizard
Conjuring; elements + 'arcane'
Summoning; golem, smaller monsters (most 3 at once) which can be combined in different ways
Enchants/Alterations: enchantments to make summons usefull and maybe shapeshifting for some meleeing?
Hunter
Ranged & Spear: main source of damage
Traps: to weaken, stun, slow etc. (traps may work like like zombie-wall in gameplay trailer)
Stealth & Poisen: mainly for more damage, some defense
Possible builds: Trap then finish with spear, enchanted ranged attacks etc.
<InsertName>
Weapon Disciplines: Naginata(very-good range&damage, avarage speed), Katana(good range&damage, fast), double Tanto(avarage range&damage, very fast)
Rage and Finishers: works like the martial arts tree of the assasin, may have elements+arcane
Fighting Stances: most have aura effect, no elements and direct damage
Possible builds: just choose a weapon to specialize, a fighting stance and the charges/finishers you want to use.
BTW this set of classes leaves almost no skills from D2 and LOD unused, damaging/elemental auras and some necro skills could be in the expansion. (Horde of undead minions rocks!)
Please give some feedback, im just trying out new ideas. Thanks.
i definitely agree with some kind of arcane wizard, like a class kinda based off of cain...
what if he really wasnt the last of his kind?!? (i mean its been 20 years)
and something like the hunter is more than likely to be there, and then one more fighter based class, somethin like the pally... but more bad ass
Already posted this on another thread but apparently this is where it truly belongs.
Dark Knight (Necro + Paladin)
When he kills enemies with his combat skills they come back from the dead as skeletons, wraiths, revenants, etc.
(The Witch Doctor doesn't necessarly overlap with him since he doesn't need to kill enemies to summon pets and he seems to only have a small army.)
Magic and Bone spells to help him control mobs and heal his minions
Auras to replace Curses
Ninja (Amazon + Assassin)
Can use skills with bows, throwing knives, shuriken, etc.
Some martial arts skills
Traps
Magi (new pure caster)
Replacement for the Sorceress with some new twists.
Here's some additional info on the Dark Knight
Actually I was thinking that the auras would be somewhat a mix up between curses and Pal auras. Like you could use auras to buff up your army or you could use auras that act like let's say dim vision but cost mana while active, but it shouldn't matter if you have mana leach.
You could like permanently cast some of the old Necro curses like Life Tap which the WD wouldn't have.
For the melee part, I was thinking of giving him abilities that deals a lot of elemental damage to his attacks but hit only one unit. You could then if you want use weapons like Scythes to deal splash damage raising minions more quickly.
Note that he could also have abilities like Zeal or Sacrifice.
As for the Bone tree, you could actually use support spells, like bone prison against enemies to give you more mobcontrol but again not like the WD.
I was also thinking about using abilities to heal your minions or that make you kill one of them to regain life and mana.
While being at it why not give the Dark Knight an ability that allows him to summon Bone Swords that spin around him acting like the Assassin Blade Barrier, that would be awesome.
I'm hoping a Hunter. Mix of sorts Bows/Traps/Nature. I don't think a Rouge will be announced. Though I have a strange suspicion Blizzard will announce classes that have never appeared in a game before.
Yeah, for the most part all of these new class "ideas" are crap, and not well thought out.
How about all of you new members look at some of the better character designs, such as post #71, #109, or #1640.
Once you have done that, think about your character idea, and I mean really think. Ask yourself these questions.
What is the character's origin?
What is the character's race?
What is the character's overall class design?
What are the character's skills?
How can this character be balanced?
Once you have done that, you will have a character class worth reading. Thank you.
And sort of, what happened to Elfen Lied posting the compilations of the most common characters?
I want to have a class that can teleport, that would be awesome. Therefore, if we can't teleport, that would be awesome because we wont be able to get rushed
How about a "blue" mageish class. They could use various enemy attacks and perhaps be a shapeshifter, of course it wouldn't be like they have to see the move to use it just typical skills.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
IDk if there is a previous thread.
But for new classes, Any idea's anyone?
I mean d2 had most of the basics, magic missile, physical missile, magic melee, etc.
But any combinations or uniqueness in classes that you think we will see?
Please Contribute:D
I know this would make no sense at all, but I want a Samurai class. He would be similar to the Knight posted above.
Samurai (Paladin + morph druid)
Samurais are warriors who come from Xiansai, they use ancient combat techniques and dark magic to fight their enemies.
Their primary weapons are Katanas, two handed Swords and Fist weapons.
Note: most of these ideas were stolen from Devil May Cry 3 and 4
Bushido (a.k.a combat skills)
Air trick: teleport the Samurai next to the selected target (more like Dragon Flight but without the damage)
Coin Toss: Throw gold at your enemies... lol
Rapid Slash: Like charge but has more than one hit and hit more than one monster
Round Trip: Hold the skill button to charge the attack then release to throw your sword at your enemy like a boomerang leaving you weaponless, but you still can switch to another weapon
Open Wound (passive): Give your attack a chance to open wound
Splash Damage (passive): Give your attacks splash damage
Rave: like zeal but on one foe
Metamorphosis
Dark Slayer: Transform the Samurai into a demon giving him more def, res to physical, attack speed/speed and life regeneration
Warrior Within: Allow the Samurai to remain morphed for a longer time, give him more life regeneration and res to physical
Dimensional Slash (Maximum Bet): Throw a Slash at the enemy from afar (think of bonespear but with a wider range), you can hold the skill button to charge this attack to make it stronger
Judgement Cut: Hold the skill button to charge the attack then release to send cyclones of slash at your enemy (deal splash damage around the targeted foe), at higher level you can send more than one cyclone by repressing the skill button at the right time.
Spiral Swords: form a shield of Magical Swords around the Samurai acting like Blade Barrier, you can hold the skill button to make them spin around you vertically making it absorb damage instead.
Dance Macabre (Showdown): Send a powerful barrage of Slashes at the enemies in front of you, need some time to charge leaving the Samurai vulnerable
Auras
Honor: same as might
Focus: Allow the Samurai and his allies to dodge attacks
Medidation: Sacrifice life to regain mana
Assume: Mix of Concentration and Blessed aim
Birthright: give your attacks life leech allowing you to reclaim what's rightfully yours
Second Chance: Ressurect the Samurai after his death with a very little amount of hp.
Who says a Barb can't do what the Pally did in D2? He's good defensively and offensively. He's a tank, and he can support with shouts. Just make the shouts last long enough, and be strong and versatile enough, and making a paladin class would just be redundant.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!
SLOW TIME!!!!!

you can see that he loves to show some skin, and a tank is fully covered, besides a barbarian doesnt have defensive auras or holy spells (this is from pure memory i havent played D2 in 2 years)

And
Zayl would make a good new Cain
All I know is after reading most of the Diablo books, there MUST be a Necro, or at least a NPC Necro that is very important to the game.
Zayl would make a good new Cain
Primary Melee
Secondary Caster / Secondary Summoner
What type I think they will add:
Ranged (Bow/Crossbow/Thrown)
Primary Caster
Secondary Melee / Secondary Caster
With that being said...
[ Ranger ] Has an option to spec either Primary Ranged or Secondary Ranged with Secondary Melee. *KEEP Guided Arrow and Multi Shot
[ Mage ] Primary Caster *KEEP Frozen Orb
[ Knight ] Secondary Melee with the option to spec in either buffs or ranged spells.
Those are the 3 I would like to see in Diablo 3.
