Conjuring; elements + 'arcane'
Summoning; golem, smaller monsters (most 3 at once) which can be combined in different ways
Enchants/Alterations: enchantments to make summons usefull and maybe shapeshifting for some meleeing?
Hunter
Ranged & Spear: main source of damage
Traps: to weaken, stun, slow etc. (traps may work like like zombie-wall in gameplay trailer)
Stealth & Poisen: mainly for more damage, some defense
Possible builds: Trap then finish with spear, enchanted ranged attacks etc.

Weapon Disciplines: Naginata(very-good range&damage, avarage speed), Katana(good range&damage, fast), double Tanto(avarage range&damage, very fast)
Rage and Finishers: works like the martial arts tree of the assasin, may have elements+arcane
Fighting Stances: most have aura effect, no elements and direct damage
Possible builds: just choose a weapon to specialize, a fighting stance and the charges/finishers you want to use.
BTW this set of classes leaves almost no skills from D2 and LOD unused, damaging/elemental auras and some necro skills could be in the expansion. (Horde of undead minions rocks!)

i definitely agree with some kind of arcane wizard, like a class kinda based off of cain...
what if he really wasnt the last of his kind?!? (i mean its been 20 years)
and something like the hunter is more than likely to be there, and then one more fighter based class, somethin like the pally... but more bad ass
an open world would really just be WoW with a diablo mod. and if thats how it were to go down i dunno if i could bring myself to buy it.
It wouldnt be diablo, almost at all, if its not rooms like in the first and second...
what some of you are asking for is almost an act of god... how can you expect to get an open world with random monster spawns, no monthly payment, and most importantly a storyline? you could possibly do the random spawns in open world but think about the number of monsters needed to hold true to the diablo style. not to mention how difficult it would be to pull off the diablo storyline in an open world style...
throwing something angelic like that into the game as a character wouldnt really make sense... theres no way they could justify making it equivalent to the human chars. it would be way too 1337... might as well just ask them to make tyreal a playable char

the realms are close enough to open world, rooms are ftw but i do think it would be pretty cool if the player cap went to 12...
If you knew what you were doing in 1.10 and 1.11, you could get from 1-90 in one day. First and foremost, D2 was all about the PvP. If you take out rushing and runs, it would destroy the PvP scene. I'm sure I'll play through the entire game without a rush. But once I've got my first high level character and I know the game content like the back of my hand, I am going to rush my friends characters through the game. And when I want to make a new character, i'll have them rush me through the game. Diablo is not WoW.
DITTO! the way everyone is talking about this itsounds like they just want blizzard to make a diablo mod for WoW! rushing isnt going away,get used to it. but i like iCanada's idea, just make the monsters progressively more challenging as you get stronger. It definitely wont eliminate rushing but it COULD reduce the frequency of it and make it a little more entertaining as opposed to walking through a tp and watching someone else kill everything...
Why not just lower the level difference allowed to 10? That way you can still do runs in the higher levels if you want but you have to be a little more involved in the lower levels
