Jul 13, 2008Kilvoctu posted a message on Diablo III Thoughts From Ex-Blizzard EmployeeI swear, like half of these posters are just complaining about floating numbers, a feature in which we have barely any information on yet (why so much whining as if it was a sure thing that the numbers cannot be toggled). I really don't want to read through the same crap over and over from different users. Does anyone even read the thread to know what they've said has been stated dozens of times already? Add something new to the conversation, please. And stop acting like you all are masters at game design. From what I gather, it seems like you all just want to play Diablo 2 again with a graphics upgrade. What would be the point of years of development to release the same game with a makeover. Do you guys want Blizzard to be more like EA (by the way, I know they typically take less than a year to release sequels)?Posted in: News

Words are important, Didn't your English teacher tell you that?Quote from "DerMetzgermeister" »Dude chill it is a word, he can say loot drops booty treasure or whatever he wants. He's not insulting you by saying it so i think you should waste less time wasting our time. Anyhow i think the system will be interesting and fun...worse case scenario i simply go back to playing D2 if the game is really that bad(which would require a conscious effort on Blizz' behalf imo)
And if you're really a Diablo fans, the worst-case scenario would most logically be 'you'll get used to the system'. Besides, Blizzard won't screw up. It's impossible. -
Jul 6, 2008Kilvoctu posted a message on Diablo III Previews and Interviews RoundupPosted in: NewsQuote from "Bad" »I think anyone who reads the petition and looks at all the screen shots posted would sign it. Im very sure of that.
I did not really like the graphics/colours too much but I wasnt that mad, but when I saw the before and after screenshots that diehard fans have created, I realised how much better this game could be. It made me kind of angry too, about the whole WoW feeling. http://www.petitiononline.com/d3art/petition.html
I looked at these screenshots. The only one that I thought was a real improvement was the first photobucket link (http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l318/frostwake/Diablo32.jpg). Everything else was too gray, or too dark to see anything.
Like this one:

I can barely even see anything in this one. How do I play a game where everything is a black blob in a black-gray-ish blob environment? I don't understand why one would think next-gen graphics should only be dark brown, dark gray, and loads of black, all with excessive film grain (like in one of those "improved" screenshots (http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/7807/itshouldrh5.jpg)? Please, I don't want my eyes to start hurting watching those sort of graphics.
Zombie Wall was all I needed to see in order to completely forget about the Necro.Quote from "GrandRobot" »i personally think the witch doctor is going to be way more bad ass then the necro. dont cry gothic boy, you need more eyeliner? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

You gleefully shoot fireballs at the walls and ceiling with the fervor of a young child. In the excitement, several key structural points damaged by the by fireballs begin to give out, and you realize the room you're in will soon collapse.
You panic for a moment before a piece of falling debris strikes you on your head, the inflicted wound forcing you to regain your senses.
The place won't last much longer. You:
1)Attempt to leave through the left door.
2)Try your escape with the right door.
3)Take cover, brace yourself and hope for the best.

Also, here's a few:
+x% [resource] regeneration upon taking damage
+x gold on hit
+x.x seconds invincibility on health globe pickup
+Health globes recover [resource] instead
+x% to rune effects
+Kills cause next attack to crit

For me, playing Diablo is like playing the Disgaea series. It's all about becoming more powerful and gaining the satisfaction from that. In Disgaea (3, for example), it only takes about 80 hours to beat the game. Then the game really starts and I spend hundreds of hours of grinding for levels and loot. By the 320 hour mark I already bested the most difficult enemy in the game (and this is a singleplayer game, mind you). But... people like me are addicted to getting stronger ever so. Each time I can get my damage output up by another 10% is a happy day.

Oh, I see. Not sure how I missed that fact... I couldn't find it in the Wiki or FAQ here. Y'all have a link to a source that I can read?

lol, the difference is: I edited to add an additional statement. When kontankarite edited, s/he rewrote the entire post (which, as I said, made my question a lot less relevant). Thus is the reason I was a bit shocked and embarrassed.
I forgot the Artisans for some reason. Seems my memory is going to hell.

Wouldn't help if all your friends who want to play Diablo III are too poor/bad with money to own a computer, as is the case here.

First, I figure manual stat point allocation would help. What else?
Edit: Whoa, you just rewrote that whole post (I should have quoted it). Slightly invalidates my question, but still curious, though.

Also, I noticed you didn't mention skills. Yes, they may be swappable, but skills will still play a large part of your build. Personally, I think the skills would be most of the customization, and the gear and other things are there to complement your skillset.

Well, the thing is, I wouldn't want that and I figure a lot of people don't. At the least, it's more fun for me to play through the game at my own pace, so if a guy comes in and just smashes through everything, yeah I'll get experience and loot, but it's not too fun if I'm not doing anything.

I don't recall reading anything about PvE restrictions, though given your example it would certainly be something I'd like in addition to just having open and passworded games. Would be disrupting to the experience if d-bags come in and troll all over you so level restrictions and whatnot would be preferable to leaving and making a new game.
EDIT:
Says the person who spent a whole post calling me a grammar Nazi.

If that's the case, I don't think having unskilled players in your team will be so much of a detriment that solo play would be preferable for Inferno. I think it was fairly simple to get fallen members back into the battle after death, and even if they don't know what they're doing it's still more damage output than going by yourself and would split up the enemy's attention.
