Ironically, it's because I don't have much time that I prefer NS.
It's not ironic, it's logical. One of the comment arguments for season defenders is that "on NS you fight against 4k paragon players". Well, if you're a casual player, you're not interested in the leaderboards anyways - and it doesn't really matter if your opponent have 4k paragon (NS) or 3k paragon (season). Both is out of reach entirely. But the difference is that on NS you have access to all that gear, gems, and some base paragon which on season takes time to build up. Last season I just wanted to try the LoN Archon wizard really quick... collecting gear for that on season (where I didn't even have a wizard in the first place) can take anything between 50 and 300 hours. On NS it was a matter of 10 minutes. (I only played it for an hour anyways so I would've killed myself if I had farmed that gear on season for hundreds of hours...)
That being said, there's appeal to both, season and non-season. It's just that season kind of turns everyone into an on/off mode, whereas when we played NS we kept playing without a break for over a year. There's always stuff to do and nothing will be made meaningless due to the upcoming season end. Without seasons/ladder I feel a game has a more continuous appeal, whereas with seasons you ask yourself more often "what am I doing here". At least I do.

That's a really interesting observation, Bagstone. Yeah, imagine if there were no seasons at all, and no Paragon system. BUT...somehow Blizzard managed to come up with ongoing permanent rankings, so players would still have a reason to push and be competitive. Too late for D3 I am afraid but hopefully D4 will have a better competitive system.

I enjoy building a character up from nothing to a completed build (not 100% perfect items but having all the items in semi decent form.) I'm not interested in leaderboards, or grinding away endlessly at GRs. Personally NS doesn't really offer me anything now that I have every set and have done every boring set dungeon and most of the game's achievements. I'm also fine with playing a game on and off, rather than slowly continually grinding away at the same task. So for me, I'm glad both options exist for players that want different things.
Would I play Season? Well, since most of my friends may be there, I likely would also end up there.
The issue is that we barely have any activities outside of GR. Once you are sick and tired of GR (like me), NS has very little to offer. If we had other legit end-game activities, then yes, my NS characters would see more usage.
Gearing up has never been easier. What's left for NS exactly? Paragon grind. I'm not a fan of that... or GR.

I have always thought that the uber fights could be made much more difficult. The thing about the uber fights is - they are always the same. So, in a way they are perfect ways to rank players. The way players are ranked now you have no idea who has the easier maps and better shrines. It makes a big difference. Just start a timer when a player ports in to an uber boss fight. But, the fights need to be harder and have possibly multiple waves, or maybe a couple more levels, so we're talking about maybe 5 minutes of work.
This season will be one of my shortest. I will play the season journey and collect the stashtab, if i did not get a tab, i would definitely not play season 7.
My issues with the game is:
1) Paragon points giving too much power and destroying competition in GR's
2) Solo leaderboards plaged with players who dont play solo.
3) Gear progression being to fast
4) Difficulty progression being to fast
5) Item, set and abillity balancing
6) Divided Community and elitist jerks
If none of the above is addressed, im pretty sure that a stash tab, no longer will be enough to bother playing period.
Sorry, man, but your main issue with the game is that you are not ready to spend enough time playing it. Rest is more or less complete BS.
id say you lack a lot of knowledge about diablo 3 and RPGs in general if what he said is total BS
He is just giving us list of excuses that he made for himself. Point is he does not want to invest enough time in the game and now he is crying us a river.
1) Paragons are issue? Go earn some.
2) Leaderboards are issue? Go earn some paragons.
3) Gear progression is fast? Yeah, it is, if you don't want perfect gear suitable for leaderboards push.
4) Difficulty progression being too fast? Maybe we need to stay for a year on each torment for he to be satisfied? This game is about grifts, not torments. And when you hit the ceiling you will be stuck there for a while.
5) Item, set and blah blah blahlancing... Cool story bro. We want equal powah for each item, just like in communism. As one would play 4 different sets on each char in a single season anyways...
6) Divided Community and elitist jerks - So he couldn't get in a fast key farm rift group with several 2k paragon ppl. Welcome to the real world.
I find that community in D3 is pretty laid back, many ppl are ready to help you despite the fact that you just played one damn rift together. There are realy friendly guilds out there that will provide their members with any info and help they need. But you need to play the game. If you want to invest 2h per week and whine how others with 10h per day are jerks... Well, that sound like BS to me.

Months ago I answered no, now I answer yes purely because each season I've basically rotated on what class I used.. Enjoyed gearing it up while checking out the minor changes, pushing GRs and eventually pushing to hard (or simply getting bored & losing focus), dying and then dropping the game until next season.
This whole cycle takes 2 weeks, is fairly enjoyable and I'll honestly likely keep doing it so long as they keep bringing out seasons.
I'm in a mindset i wouldn't play season if extra tabs weren't a reward. I like the combat and i like farming for items... if they weren't dropping from the sky. I guess Diablo 3 GR endgame isn't what i look for in the long run in an ARPG but looking for rare items....
I want to ask the op and those who say no a simple question.
Would you play this game if loot drops were nerfed to .00001 meaning you can play 200 hours without an upgrade?
Because it sure seems like that is what you guys prefer the way you comment.
Yup. Been reading the same kind of "Loot drop is too high!" comments here as well and I cannot agree with you more. Seems like many are unhappy that other players who don't spend as much time farming are getting the same loot as them (although the stats are less than ideal and we gotta keep looking anyway).

"Hope... Do not look down, my friend. Even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. Hope for a better day, hope for a new dawn. Or just hope for a good breakfast. You start small, then see what you can get."
I would be fine with vanilla drop rates to return if smart loot stays. Absolutely. Back then i hated to get wizard gear on my barb all the time, but droprates were fine. Legendaries felt LEGENDARY (even if were useless shit) if dropped. Now it's just a salvage.
i will play the whole journey in season 7 like i did in the previous seasons. i will try to stick to barb like i did in the previous seasons and end up with another wizard, dh etc. like in the previous seasons.
i will reach about 300-500 paragon like in the previous seasons and let droves of items expire in the mail because diablo 3 has the worst item management. like in the previous seasons.
this season-thingy prolongs the life lease of this game and you all know it. i like the style and atmosphere of the game, but in the end it didn't really change much from the first days. sure, someone will pop up and say "but RoS happened with another act and rifts and grifts and seasons and so on!!1". but the classes never really changed. or the gameplay. there are tweaks here and there, you use the newest cookie cutter builds (which are already ready to implement once the patch comes off the ptr) and in the end you just do the same like you did 2012.
i really hope they mix things up with another expansion or diablo 4. otherwise i will see myself in the season 56 treadmill doing the same stuff i did 2012.

I am against this for one reason. COMPLETELY RANDOM STATS. So the items were salvage for me as well.
Of the first 20 legendary items I got in vanilla for my barb, NOT A SINGLE ONE WAS BETTER THAN MY YELLOWS, because of random stats. If it was smart loot AND some sort of static stats, then yeah, I would also love the system.
My vote is no, which is somewhat bias. I don't play more than 10 hours a week these days as I am a grown man now with a family whereas previously I could sink 30+ hours a week in to gaming. Priority differences and the regular demands of life I suppose... Maybe if I win the lotto, things may change.

The stash tab is just something extra. I do seasons for the reset and goals to complete the journey

I dont play seasons for the stash space, I play it because NS has no point imo.
