The wings look awesome, but the "with a friend" requirement is a bit much for me. 15 games is kind of a lot for people not currently playing HotS, too.

Question - if you use the thing that gives your pets your thorns (can't remember what it was, a passive?) does that scale with the pet set so they all get super powerful thorns?
I still think all those long cooldown short duration skills that the necro has look very boring in a fast paced game, and I'm a bit shocked that they think that % damage "is the same as a big damage skill" or didn't see the broken ass invulnerability coming.
I'll buy it and try it out so job done by the devs I guess, but Blizz has lost a ton of goodwill for their future games with how little they've invested into developing Diablo.

So basically all the damage reduction set bonuses are "per enemy hit" ?
I guess the compensation for 0 def against RG is the ability to instagib it at 15% ?
Didn't we already learn not to design things like this in D3?

I know you're partnered with Twitch now and that requires going through several more screens just to login (every single time) but do we really need 5 Twitch videos on one newspost preloading themselves?
I know you're probably contracted to promote them as much as possible, but there's a line where it becomes obnoxious at how much it's being pushed in your face. Hopefully it's getting them lots of traffic from others, because all it's achieving for me is making sure I never go near their site.

They're basically only there as advertising. I'm not convinced having them advertising the early beta does more good than harm, though. If they did only add them because they were whining and making a fuss then Blizzard fucked up by giving in to them.Quote from TheLordOfTerror»

Beta isn't something meant to satisfy players and give them a free, early access demo/preview of new features to play around and have fun with, but to actually test stuff - at least that's what it's supposed to be. It's not for us, it's for Blizzard.
So, of course - Blizzard obviously lets the most hard-core beta testers into this test, like Quin and Kripp. Kappa
Well, I'm not a huge fan of inviting streamers and if it was up to me, I'd consider delaying their access to later stages of the test (which I think Blizzard tried doing, but the streamers and their fans cried so badly that Blizzard gave in), but it does have its merits:
1. Streamers/celebrities are only a small fraction of the total amount of invited testers.
2. They basically provide free advertisement by showcasing the new content to other players. So yeah, marketing.
3. While streamers are in fact generally crappy testers, by showing the content to a wider audience, they stir up discussions in the community, which still contains feedback.
So... Honestly, I don't mind streamers. I mean, sure, a lot of them outright suck at testing and providing feedback, but they're there for different reasons. However, a small percent of people like that don't change what the test is supposed to be. What I feel is the issue here is that we were spoiled by Blizzard as most of the time we were given very well polished betas and PTRs, which seemed like a pre-release "go and have fun" version. And now that Blizzard has released a beta that actually is unfinished and is all about testing, some people freak out. -

Quin69 already stopped playing necro and the verdict = it's crap. Very undeveloped. Army of the Dead is basically just a HUGE PINK CIRCLE
The first playable version of the character in a closed beta without its items implemented feels underdeveloped? No way! Any idiot can see that they're rushing it out as fast as they can and haven't had time to round things out properly.
That said, some of the skills are super alarming... why would you even try to implement stuff like %dmg (on a generator too!) or 5s immunity on a 10s cd (but only for one rune)? Skills that last for 5s on a 2min cd. These are things that have already been shown to be bad concepts in Diablo.
I want to say a lot of the runes look dead on arrival but we all know that once the sets arrive we will only ever get to use a handful of skills and maybe a tiny selection of runes, so it doesn't really matter how good the rest is, which is a shame.

I love the new addition where it says "Gold: 17(goldsymbol)" every single time you pick up gold. I don't know how I would have figured out that it was gold otherwise. Can we please get a fix so that when you hit an enemy it says "Damage: 10" every time you do damage to a monster?
I really like the new changes to bounties, but the new cache art is kind of awful. It's way too big and what's the point of a giant cache item when normal ones don't exist any more?
Generally the UI is very clean (bad tooltips aside) but these changes don't improve anything.

I enjoy the idea of doing the season journey, but I've done this season journey like 5 times now (with a few parts swapped about each time but basically all the same requirements each time.)
QoL changes are very nice but there's not much point when there's no reason to actually play to make use of them.
Being better rewarded for multiplayer is natural, yes, but the sheer scale of the reward in D3 is obnoxiously bad. Groups getting a say 20% advantage is fine. Groups getting a 500%+ advantage is stupid. Not to mention all the speed run nephelem rifts (which haven't had a qol update for about a year despite constant GR improvements) all require you to teleport into a loading screen at the end, which can be skipped via a party member leaving early but not solo.
There are a couple of set changes but the WD changes are so tone deaf it hurts. HT was already locked into only being able to play garg, now they buff Zuni to play a less fun version of the same thing instead. Even if you only have 2 devs and can only afford to tweak numbers, those are not the ones to change! Changing HT or Zuni set numbers don't mean anything until you change frost garg (or the ring but that won't add varied gameplay which is what they say they want.)

They should remove the mana spender requirement from Zuni. It's not really fun...
It would be much better if they made it "on hitting with poison dart or a spender, the damage of your FETISHES is increased by x."
The current change just makes it a higher damage and less fun way to watch the op humongoid garg rune whack away some more :/
(Also, buff HT 6pc, then nerf garg+dog by a portion of that buff, then garg humongoid by the same amount again. The goal being to keep garg at around the same power but open up more runes, while also opening up other skill options for HT for the sake of variety.)

It really doesn't matter if the game is making money or not - the point is that it could be making money and they have done nothing with it.
To be fair they are slowly starting to with the Necromancer but that's what 6 months away at the very least while they've spent over a year letting the game die out. There should have been cosmetics out in the store back when 2.4 hit at the latest to help fund more development, but they clearly felt that the game was fine and done with. Then they probably saw all the requests for more Diablo and panicked and got the necro thing started, but it's going to take so long that I'm not sure it'll even be relevant.

Paragon and loot are two different things. You can change one without changing the other.Quote from xulingaming»

I actually agree d3 needs to make loot more rarer like a lot more rare then it is now.
yeah, and people that have LIVES get fucked in the ass because some have wayyyy too much time.
And tell me how is current paragon system better if u wanna compete >D and dont have 6h-20h per day time to play.
Loot is fine - the problem is each class having a few sets that scale so far beyond anything else (which puts them at places with "too much loot." But not every player is at those far ends; it'd be more reasonable to reduce the top end so that ~T13 would be the top player challenge ground and lower difficulties for easy farming. Then drop rates would be fine as they are now.
Reducing them puts us back in a world where we struggle to get the sets that let us even start farming for more items. I'm not saying things aren't flawed right now, but going back to older D3 is not the answer.
Paragons really should stop after 800-1000 though. -

Manald Heal: Enemies stunned with Paralysis also take ~2700% weapon damage as Lightning.
Stunned or paralysed..? Also.. sigh who is this even for? Compare it to even a level 0 Pain Enhancer and that can scale. Shouldn't it do something.. healing.. related?
The Barber: Instead of dealing direct damage, your Spirit Barrage now accumulates on the target. When you stop channeling, it explodes dealing
~250% of the accumulated damage within 15 yards.Why. How are you even meant to use it when there's already a Spirit Barrage weapon that's also no good? (but has barrage dmg rolling on it so it's necessary.) They already added an offhand awhile ago and then changed that to not be worth using, and none of these items fix any of the core problems with the skill (need to channel, spell doesn't actually count as a channel, wd spells are an absolute joke compared to gargs.) This one makes it not do damage while channelling while consuming a cube slot so it probably actually weakens you overall?

All I would like to do is farm Mephisto/The Council/Shenk/Diablo/Baal etc. like back in the days. Item greed for the win, Gheed is my witness.
Of course I wouldn't spend as much time as when I was younger, work 4tw, but still I would like to farm again...
make characters permanent choices, not reskilling on the fly. Damn it - Diablo III gives you a new 70 character in a few hours, so why not having to relevel if you mess it up?
Get back to lvl 99 or something similar. It was better to not even once reach lvl 99 (or only hardly by farming a lot) and put that char in your trophy chest than to endlessly farm paragon levels, what a boring thing to do without any milestone left.
I don't really understand this. I see many, many comments about how D3 sucks because it's just rifts (I hate that too) but that D2 was great.
But D2 was just get powereleveled through to Hell A5, then sit while a sorc TPed to Baal, then kill Baal a hundred bajillion times, where whoever had the fastest internet connection to their clicking bot program got loot. Then go off alone and farm the same few bosses over and over and over and over and over and over to try and get to a level that was so ridiculous barely anyone even bothered with it.
I loved Diablo 2 but it had many many problems, and asking for D3 to go back to D2 wouldn't fix the many many problems D3 has.

To be honest I only looked at the leaderboards for the first few days because I just did the journey and quit because of the lack of balance changes - if it needs a ton of Paragon points then that'd explain it. So my bad there. Regardless the set could still use refining - like HT it buffs a bunch of skills esp spiders that aren't really useful for anything. Obviously this is less urgent than other sets need.
Zuni doesn't need a buff it just needs focusing to be different from being a worse HT. If HT is going to mainly be for garg and dog while wall of death is used to open doors, then those pets shouldn't be on the Zuni set. Change the pet dmg taken to fetish dmg done and adjust accordingly.

Did I miss something? When did Arachyr's become a good set?
I guess you could clear T13 with it, but not particularly efficiently since the set is at such odds and ends with its skills and required items. And casting Haunt w/ Locust on everything and then Firebatting it isn't exactly what I would call an efficient set design, esp when most of the skills on the set are completely worthless :/
The problem with Zuni as others have said is that it's a worse Helltooth. The problem with WDs is that aside from Jade, everything is worse than HT garg. All the other HT spells are so weak in comparison that there is no real point casting them (for damage.) Unlike Zuni, you don't need to hit anything with your WoD, just aim it wherever every so often. Its chicken spec is more efficient than the actual chicken set, Arachyr.
Suggestions:
-Murder the Garg Humongoid rune in some way and then it'll be okay to buff everything else across the board to match other class levels (probably avoiding Haunt in some way.)
-Take Pet damage off Zuni and make it when you hit an enemy with x (dart grasp or something idk) Grasp and Fetish damage is increased for x. (not that target takes more.)
-Do something to give Arachyr an identity. Make it able to use firebats without either foregoing the staff or an offhand. Make the spider useful. It is a controllable pet!! What WDs have screamed for. I want a spider locust build!
While not as broken as the other class' sets, I think the key problem is that Jade aside, HT basically steals what the other sets are meant to do. It's better at pets than Zuni. It's better at speed chicken than Arachyr. They really need to have less overlap on skills going on there.
I don't play other classes as much but the obvious ones would be Akkhan's, Roland's, IK (not as part of Raekor) WW, ahaha Vyr oh dear. Wiz seems like a huge mess these days.

Since they didn't do that last patch though and saying it wasn't the priority, yet for some reason going to a ton of effort to make a lot of new items and then making them completely useless, who knows what they're thinking.

"Most toxic and hostile in all of gaming" isn't even close to true.
As a random example, when people got banned for cheating in D3 they all posted saying they didn't do anything. When they got banned from Overwatch for cheating, they said it wasn't a big deal that they cheated and were going to sue Blizzard and petition the gov against them and hack them (and did DDoS them) and that it was illegal for Blizz to close their accounts and...
And then there's CS throughout the years, WoW when people played it, LoL, DoTA... those console shooty games, etc.
They also don't choose what to develop based on how nice their customers are.

Interesting they didn't use the D3 logo for that interview either but I think that's more because they're bringing 1 and 2 to show that it's about the whole franchise and not adding more content to the current game >.>

Thanks for the youtube link!
"You guys so much content for Diablo 3 - can we expect to see more?"
"We made transmogs and set dungeons awhile ago"
End of interview...

They need to nerf Garg cold rune so that they can actually buff everything else. It's so much better than everything else a wd can do that it's just silly.
Some random thoughts on changes I'd like to sets:
Arachyr:
- Give spider pet proper damage (Currently: HT = 1500%/s + slow + 20%dmgtaken, Arac = 4000% over 5s + slow)
- Give Hex its buffs back, make them affect wd/pets only. Make the healing rune not worthless.
- Do something with the 6pc.
Jade:
- "So long as you have no pets summoned, you gain 60% damage reduction." (only counts fetishes dogs gargs)
HT:
- garg cold rune nerfed
- overall bonus buffed
- Maybe take firebats off? Or take it off arach.
Zuni:
- change 6pc to "whenever you hit an enemy with Poison Dart, your fetishes gain 3000% (or whatever) damage for 8s"

While I was waiting for other gear to finally drop I did RoE angry chicken a bit. It's kinda clunky and the damage isn't amazing (no vile hive possible ) but it does work. Spam haunt when killing normal stuff (I was using it for bounties so kill x mobs etc.) and then let haunt and locusts jump onto elites before blowing them up if blowing them up with chicken by itself isn't good enough. Has the same problem every Arachyr build has though - all of them require at least one too many supplementary items to be really functional.
Just think, you could do F+R RoE and require locust from being nearby, casting a primary, then haunt, THEN you can attack~
pls I just want my giant controllable spider build already. But all the items that buff pets don't buff anything else for Aracyr, its damage is dot (not sure how fast it can stack though?) and while it gets simplicity's strength and spiders dmg it doesn't get depth diggers. Again, everything just doesn't quite come together :/
0
But the idea isn't to make an RoE Spender build - the idea is to get the strongest possible Locust Swarm to melt trash (chaining Haunts also works well with this so RoE is good) but then also having something to take out elites. You don't spam Haunt on elites (because there is no way to get Jade 2p sadly) so you are free to cast another spell at that point - and the good thing about spiders is that you get a bigass controllable spider pet that also benefits from all your spider buffing that is always doing damage.
Obviously it's still unlikely to be a great build because Arachyr sucks, but I like its base concepts of a strong Locust Swarm (Jade also uses swarm but its a weak swarm used in a different way) and a controllable pet. If nothing else at least it might give the set a bit of feeling of identity.
0
I know the set is broken as hell but I'm determined to make it work in some way out of sheer stubbornness.
0
Hmm swapping dogs for haunt and unity for roe might up the damage a whole lot?
