So, one of the video posted in the 1080p videos is about the WD's Corpse Spider skill which was runed as Leaping Spider, which looks to be to OP especially when 4 WD uses the skill at the same time and the WD's mana is not even being depleted at all:
I'm pretty set on playing a Wizard first, but seeing all these spiders is making me want to play a WD now. Demon hunter is looking good with its pet spider, too.
The WD is currently OP in the beta but it's not because of leaping spiders, lol. Soul Harvest + Dire Bats on the other hand.... yes it's OP. My WD does over 200 damage when it crits. I can't get anywhere close to that with any other class.
A limitation of spiders is that they aren't as effective if they can't surround something. Also, the startup time from casting the first spider is a bit of time (it's not instant). It's a decent spell to fill the void when you're out of mana, but it's not a good main skill.

Soul harvest and leaping spiders are devastating at the skeleton king as well. The adds he summons are just harvested, GoD'd and spiders on the boss. I think spiders are meant for a summoner's build. If you are going without summons, spiders will probably be too slow as they don't do a great job at keeping adds off you. Though they do seem to stun some creatures on a hit which makes them a defacto tank against certain mobs.
You definitely have to prep the battlefield. 1 group of spiders isn't enough. You need to constantly spam it.
In the end, WD and Barb pull about the same damage; just the WD takes more clicks to get there.
It only looks OP because of the amount of spiders, but really, it's just 4x19% weapon damage, so 76%, you can do much more damage with Splinter Dart (3x 60%). Also the throw/spawn animation is slow as hell, and you can't exactly chose a target. Obviously, a team of 4 level 13ish WD is gonna steamroll the beta, especially the starter area, one can already do that with 1 character of any class.
It's 4x19%x3. They live about 3 seconds each. It's a devastating ability. And they move targets if the first one dies. And you don't have to aim at a target specifically to use it. And it still does damage if you are forced to move to a new location.

It's really a terrible skill for normal. Maybe not in higher difficulties - but - if you're going to be 1-2 shotting entire groups using Dire Bats...then...well...you shouldn't bother with spiders.
they only attack about twice (if i remember correctly), the AI is wonky and its unpredictable. There was a thread about this a while back, the general consensus is; use them if you think they're cool, if you want to min max, don't touch with 50 foot pole.
Dont't forget, the main point of playing games is to have fun!
There is nothing OP about this ability

THE GAME IS NOT OUT YET!!!
What an astounding use of perceptive skills!!!
Perceptive skills like that obviously just render anything anyone else says null and void.

If it was x3 the skill would be the best hands down, but they sadly only get two hits off each, so it will be x2. Lets compare to splinters. 180%wpndmg per cast versus 152%wpndmg (4x19x2). It does less damage than splinters, but on top of that it is also less predictable. Need to kill a specific target in a crowd? too bad, the spiders will jump all around. The only advantage is the mana cost.
spiders also act like homing missles jumping at targets from very far away where poison dart is in a direct strait line so if a mob moves slightly your entire skill will miss, where if you miss even by a whopping 25 yards with leapers they will still jump at that target. leapers far > psn dart in every situation unless you have a single target that isnt moving at all

nah, WDs even with soul harvest are pretty much standard
check out this video with 2 barbs and 2 monks, lvls 9-11, killing the SK in about the same time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMVdaaytBj0
Dunno what you're doing wrong, but I hardly ever miss with my darts. That being a non-issue then, the darts are superior. Your post only defends spiders as being better for bad players.
lulz? im saying mobs CAN move out of the path. obviously spamming them constantly you will hit stuff. and in later difficulties when mobs are much smarter and move much faster it wont be nearly as easy as super-easy mode beta. ive seen you've started to post in the WD forums more and you talk out of your ass a lot and dont really know what your talking about. when i talk about anything with skills im ALWAYS talking about end-game, because arguing about anything before that is pointless and retarded. most of what will work in normal easy mode wont be possible in hell/inferno, obviously. so do some thinking first bud

Will Blizzard fix the mana issue on this skill before retail?
