There will alway be 1-3 builds that ppl will use.

It's like this. Say you have five builds. Build A is 100% effective. It is the best and it pounds things to sand in a heartbeat. Build B is 99% effective. It also pounds things into sand in a heartbeat. Builds C, D an F are 90% effective. All three still pound things into sand in a heartbeat.

Well, I might be mistaken here, but from what I saw so far there is no build say for the DH that comes 90% as efficient as Mara. Thats an example and maybe and exception to your rule. If its the case then too bad for DHs I guess, but its a good example as for what I can't understand that hasn't been "fixed".

Honestly I really doubt your "there are at least 3 builds 90% as efficient as the best build". But maybe you're right, I'm not playing the game enough to have any credibility as you might have to be honest. But the thing is, when you look at certain runes for skills, a lot of them are just plain useless or almost if compared to their most used runes, and that I can't understand 2 years + after launch.

I'm pretty sure Blizz can draw evidence of skills that are so unused at maxed level character, they don't need to try and buff 'em to reach the top 10% used builds, but ... at least give them a chance ffs :P

Maybe they just put to much skills available to chose from into the game...

So, I jumped back for Season 1 and had a lot of fun leveling fresh new characters.
But the same thing is still keeping me away from sinking hours into the game.

The lack of variety in viable builds (and the lack of complaint about it as well) and the game progress relying way to much on luck.

Am I missing something or the top GRifters are all using the same 1-2 builds with few variations of them?
And the fact that those builds are 80% (I just made that number.. I know, but ..whatever..) based on luck to get the gear to use those builds.

Where is the fun in hoping for luck to get to use the 1-2 only viable builds out of of so many possibilities that are just plain useless?
I don't get why Blizz don't just simply buff all of those unused skills?

I'm sure I'm missing something here, so could someone explain to me why the game is still suffering from the lack of builds variety?
And why everyone is alright with the game being almost purely based on luck as far as gear is concerned (Diablo must involve luck indeed, but based only on it.. that sounds bad for a 2014 game) ?

    Thanks guys.

Hmmm... I think the difference from cashes is only from T2 onwards.
There was a guy who tested like 50 caches and got more loot from normal that t1 ... rng is rng but still. Do not know exactly what is the brakingpoints of bounty caches, but this is what I seen/heard/read. Even if the difference is only from T2 (which starts to be harder to 1 hit) its still worth it to do T1, be it only for the torment-only possible drops of "kill x elite" bounties. I mean at some point its a question of seconds (less than a minute) for the whole 5 bounties.

And my highest geared character was only able to solo T4 (acceptable pace) and was 1hitting T1 or almost 1 hit...

Imagine all the possible torment only drops you misses from doing dozen of those run in normal, again, for a few seconds.

Having fun with seasons, so i'm still playing. The only thing i'm hating again is the useless normal bounties until i get a RoRG. Starting a new char from time to time is fun, gearing the char is fun, having to complete a1 bounties for just 1 drop is not fun for me.
I never got why ppl insist in doing those bounties on normal. I mean when you reach the point that you almost 1hit everything T1 do it T1, for the few seconds you win on full bounties clear its better worth it doing it T1...

What is really annoying is the fact that this item is definitely OP (opens a ton of build) and that you can only get it by playing A1... that is ridiculous.

I love it simply because of the fresh start, and when a season begins it doesn't feel "right" playing standard, so basically its mostly a psychological need that blizz managed to create. But If seasons do not last more than 3-4 months I doubt I'll play the next seasons. And even if they reach 6 months I'm not sure I'll dive into it.

They really need to add more seasonal legendaries, that would make me jump into every single season. They doesn't need to be uber powerful, just nice alts to already existing items, at least make them so they open 1 new build for each class.
They added some, but most of them are meh..

In fact they are pretty wise, because they know how shitty the campaign is and that nobody/few players would want to go over that again another time.

If adventure mode wouldn't be open I wouldn't even dare to play seasons.. and I'm sure most players would agree.

actually I do not intend to play seasons. The most exciting thing for me with 2.1 were "infinitely" upgradable gems which by now we know was just another empty promise. I try and find some other reasons to keep on playing but the thought of being able to max out my gems quicker than the whole PTR was tested is off putting because let's face it... most of us won't be even able to reach Grift level 50+ (lucky ones/perfect geared ones will most likely go as high as 50 at best). I was really hoping for that innovative end game content but I guess I had my hopes up a bit too high :)
Well if you're right that we'll barely see players go beyond 50+ grift its quite an hardcore endgame.
And if you look for innovative content, what they put on since RoS is thousands time more innovative than D3 vanilla (yeah I know, even 12 years old child with no gaming experience could've done better than what they did, but they did it anyway so..) and most arpg afaik.

    You're quite right in fact.

But I find brute farming to be so boring that I couldn't keep on playing knowing that greater rift will bring much more challenge and fun so... And seasons! But yeah they might not be online with 2.1 day one I know..

Anyway grats for your xbow and progress ;)

Consider this as a troll if you like but, once a huge patch goes PTR I can't find a good reason to keep me playing while knowing I'm "wasting" my time and not being "efficient" compared to what the upcoming patch will give..

So I'm happy to get back in game.

I just hope this will be the last time a patch gets tested in PTR this long.

Isn't it already the case lol?
No. Sets are so slick right now, when considering the rorg, that Leg armors are falling by the wayside. Specifically the armors (chest/pants/bracer/shoulder/belt/boots) just cannot compete with most classes set bonuses when considering the rorg. My 6 piece Akkhan/3 piece Captain Crimson bonuses make any consideration of replacing them with standard Legs impossible.
So you just said you agree with me with the fact that there are already "super powered legs".

Your dps seems a bit low for T1 Rifts.

For T1 to be more efficient than master, you gotta be able to clear elite fast enough which I doubt is the case right now. But give it a try.

I'd take D3 loot system over D2 "work you way torwards gear by trading" anytime.

I mean seriously, how many hours did you even spent in D2 starting with low end items to get high eng gear.. It's not even comparable. I played hours upon hours of D2, and I never had anything more than "fine" by the end of a ladder season.

But, I do get your point that its only based on luck so far. You can play 10 hours and find nothing except working you way towards better gems. And that sucks (but is still 1000000x better than D2 was in terms of giving back for your time).

I really think D3 would infinitely benefit from a system that either guarantee to rewards you appropriately over time (more than just x% chance of finding x items) or rewards you appropriately for playing at higher difficulty level (right now its only efficient if you do T1 until you can 1 shot or so T2, then T3...).
