J.W: "Hey guys we're removing part of the game that a lot of people were looking forward to. We'll probably add it after release some time (could be many months but we can't tell you how long we think it will be).
But guess what... the game is going to come out SOON-ER!!!!"
Everyone - "OMG HE SAID SOONER LOL WHO CARES ABOUT PVP. BEST NEWS EVER."
uhm... captain obvious? hell yea best news ever

He didn't give us a release date. He didn't update us at all on the release window. Just more vague hand waving. There was nothing positive in that post at all. A major game system isn't going to be there at release (what happened to "when it's done" and "no one will remember if it's late, only if it's great?")
And yet people are treating this announcement like it's the best news we've had in months. I think people have finally gone stark raving mad from waiting so long for this game.
1) Release date is already known and deadline is soon (hence Bz cannot do what they want in time).
2) Therefore Bz moto "When it is done" works only when their Activision moneybag-masters are satisfied with income, and taking in account that WoW is finally one-leg-in-a-coffin ... No Profit.
D3 entertainment expectation just lowered by 15%.
It seems Bz/Av are going in BW/EA footsteps.
When WoW was released, PvP systems were postponed and the game launched without them.
It is kinda par for the course on a blizzard release for them to severely cut what they had planned and showed off at Blizzcon. This is what Blizzard does. They have all these ideas running around for a game and then start to build and implement and then iterate them to accommodate, not thousands or tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, but MILLIONS of players. This is compromise to a severe degree, they know we are at peak rabidity and want this game and that will drive word of mouth sales. They are not getting rid of PVP but only delaying that part.. so we have it to look forward to after we start to hit the inferno wall of impenetrable hardness. still excited but sad that we wont have a fully robust PvP system. Hopefully well be able to duel each other...

Right... but how many things do they cut/delay before people say "wow fuck this game, this has gotten ridiculous"

I'm not. It is unfortunate that the PvP is being pushed back, but I believe Blizzard made the right choice. As for others -- not gonna try to speak for them.
...I now have an urge to speak Darkspear troll. Weird. <_<
Sorry... I'm about to rant. PvP (although not majorly important to the core game) was 'flaunted' over 18 months ago.
WTF have they been doing all this time? Is there ONE person coding this game?
This very announcement pours doubt in my expectation of the level of excellence Blizzard has executed with Diablo 3.

I´m happy of this desicion. i would like to enjoy pve content before ill go dominate pvp battlefield. Im sure its gonna be awsome, even if we will have to wait a bit longer
If it's between:
A: Having PvP arenas on retail and pushing the release date even further back
or
B: Getting the game out asap and patching arenas in later
I'll choose B every single time. Let's get the game out and playable. PvP will come soon enough and this gives people plenty of time to level up their character(s) to 60 and gear up for the PvP that's soon to come.

Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness,
Bringing torment and pain to others.
Your damned soul wallowing in your sin.
Perhaps... it is time to die.
Can't say I'm surprised, but instead of being happier for an earlier release, I'm not. I'm not even interested in PvP but this is just another disappointment.
First they said PvP won't be a big focus, just like in Diablo 2. Then they say "PvP just isn't up to our standards." Finally they say "We're just going to cut it for now!"
This is really a crock of **** for a few reasons. First off, I severely doubt cutting the arena portion sped up the game's release one bit. I'm just not buying it. Even if they were planning to release very soon, they could have just kept arena as is and left it in for release and told us they were going to improve it later. It seems like they are holding back content for them to release later to try and keep us interested in the game for the long term. Also, how do you go from a PvE central focus to giving a damn about trying to perfect your PvP in your game? It's a waste of time or a lack of direction on their part. On top of all of this, if their focus is to suddenly make PvP meaningful, why didn't they just test out arena combat in beta? They could have had "fun" less meaningful low level arena or have just given us preset lv 60 characters for the sake of testing arena. It's just another wasted opportunity. This beta is more of a testing of their game's demo if you ask me.
The whole thing reeks of them trying to make it look like they are turning lemons into lemonade, when it's really just them rationing lemons. Blizzard, you freaking lemon hogs!
This goes without saying that the PvP lovers just lost their hard-on for this game within seconds of reading this post. Sorry Diablofan PvP forums! Sorry for your loss! :/

Some people tell me I'm going to hell. I just let them know that I've already packed my bags!
Doesn't matter for me.. not much of a fan of closed arena PvP (open world pvp is my thing). Anyways if this brings the release date closer its all good and people can enjoy the Arena later when they patch it in.
it will take a few weeks anyways to get max level and gear up.
Ha you people really think they are going to patch it in a month or 2? This reeks of half year - year patch at best. They couldn't even put chat channels....CHAT CHANNELS in SC2 for about half a year. How the hell are they going to put "pvp" content in any faster?
Oh well, there is 1 good thing coming about this. I save $100 and get the game when its discounted like hell and actually complete and all of the scrubs who play the game to trade their swordy for their belty will have all withered away and moved onto WoW 2.0 where they belong.
Funny, obviously noone in here actually did PvP in Diablo. You guys either PvP'd in WoW which is nothing alike or you went to pubs and got your face smashed which is pathetic. So if you sucked at PvP great...don't play it, if you are actually good at the game however you would know PvP isn't all about gear or level, or nerfs and buffs for that fact ha. Sad sad little WoW kids.
This has to be the game with the longest development time.. Wonder how much it costs to develop & create :)..
no where near the money they will actually make. over 1m people have signed up for the annual pass alone. and you better believe the week they announce the release date the annual pass + pre orders will sky rocket. im betting well over a few million people will have it between pre orders and the annual pass before its even out. then all the sales in the first few months. then after that all the money from the transactions on the RMAH. of course i dont see it topping WoW in any way, but still a shitton of money

"once the pretty hardcore gamers we had testing inferno found it fairly difficult, we then we doubled it" -trolololol jay wilson
Well at least this will give them a great excuse when people ask about a patch upgrading the chat channels. "Sorry, we're working on the PvP arenas, do you want chat channels or PvP?"
Delaying PVP in a diablo game is UNACCEPTABLE, Blizzard had 6+ years to develop the game and they can't even deliver the full product (i don't care what Noob Wilson says, pvp IS one of the core aspects of the Diablo franchise).
I won't even say it is ridiculous, this just shows Blizzard massive incompetence on the development of the game(they had PLENTY of time), but seeing what blizz is doing with their other games is not surprising at all(battle.net 2.0, SC2 marketplace, cataclysm, mists of pandaria).
Oh, and just an additional piece of information, Blizzard said it would add clan support for SC2 on a patch after release, 2 years later and we are still waiting for that patch.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

Blizzard was not owned by Activision in 2004.
Assumption proven false.
Upset because this is bullshit that they drop pvp for this push back. What the FUCK have they been doing!??!?!?!
Not upset because it means the game will be released and most of us won't be entering pvp until max level anyway.
Here's to hoping release date is announced monday...
