Why Baal do not destroy the worldstone if doing it was better for Hell? He wants to corrupt it and if I remember he is blocking Tyrael from getting near the worldstone so we, the mortal heroes, must defeat him.
Maybe Tyrael is not directly corrupted, but he can have his own agenda maybe rushing a total hell vs heavens conflict over Sanctuary.
Tyrael is missing his wing...things? Artist was just being quick, or making a point?
You'd think even if the artist was just being quick that he'd at least add a few wavy lines.
Those wings are ornamental and have always been there (watch the cinematics for the end of Act II or the end of Act V.) As for his real wings, I have no idea why they aren't there.
On a personal note, I really hope they don't go that direction with Tyrael. I love his character and I hope he remains to be the helpful yet rebellious Arch-Angel that he was in Diablo II. Also, I would never want to fight him, he's one true badass. I think it's pretty safe to say he had the Wanderer (Diablo) defeated until Marius stupidly released Tal Rasha to help.

I think that Tyrael = Diablo
1. do you remember who was the guy with the robe in D2 cinematics.. and what it become?

Blizzard is constantly promoting Tyrael - look the D3 site, WoW etc. You now... the best place to hide something is ... in front of us. /I think that after the release of the game, pushing the gem "button" on diablo3.com will trigger the change of the picture above: from Tyrael to guess who? The lord of terror/
3. It will be silly to constantly revive and resurect diablo with each new release of Diablo franchise. So the story team just picked up different characters... like Baal in LOD. I think it is Tyrael on the line.
However it will probably be like in the "american" movies - the good will have to prevail... so at the end Tyrael will find the force /with the help of the GAMER/ to push it away and by killing himself to finnaly destroy Diablo... till Diablo 4 when it will be resurected by a group of shamans :)))))))))))))

Heres something for you. Sorry if this is already posted. In the cinematic trailer at the start of 1:35 which is after the part where it shows Tyrael chucking his sword at the World Stone. In the transaction between showing the picture of the Army of Hell and the Meteor there is a small blimp of a picture. I captured a screen shot and this is what I got.

I think the are both evil just choose you color do you want a dark evil color or a light evil color black or white. But I think If you have read all the books that sanctuary can become more powerful than both. And Both heaven and hell want to stop it. Both sides want to destroy sancturay.

I have a fundamental problem with much of the claims here. First of all, a matter of terminology: a theory is a supposition based on proveable evidence. Literally, the difference between a random guess and a theorum, is that the theory requires some aspect which can be proved absolutely. The standards for that evidence varies from subject to subject and it would be unreasonable to expect scientific quality proofs here. However, the second problem that has occured to me is the tools being used for proof.
Most of the content here is pictographic, stills and artwork by the Diablo staff. While undoubtedly Blizzard knows what its doing and what its content means, we fans whom are not insiders have no bar of quality for our knowledge or way to prove our guesses when derived from images; some of which are little more than flickering pieces of fire whose shapes or lack thereof are entirely up to the viewer. If we are to actually deduce the significance of Tyreal in Diablo III, we either will have to improve the quality of our arguments, or wait for the game to come out.
For instance, the claim that Diablo III contains some kind of hydra-like construct has not been proved to me. The Hydra was a many headed reptile whom was killed by Heracles, but distinctly of a serpentine format. The one multi-headed image of what appears to be Diablo is not so, and I will not comment on the apparent serpent like appearance of any fireballs from the sky. If anything I would make the claim that since Cerberus, the first hundered-headed and later three-headed hound of hell also slain by Heracles in myth, was one of the prototypes for the later descriptons of Satan as "The Beast" and the image from the preview film was a three headed entity perhaps Diablo has become a beastial amalgamation of Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal in a single all powerful entity, but I have no proof one way or the other.

If that is true, then I could make the argument that the true villain of Diablo III is the Keebler Elves, and to find them you must unlock and defeat Eramac from Mortal Kombat in a button mashing kill fest via the secret cow level to enter the knothole and play a Gradius style level dodging cookie doom, and have it be viable rhetoric. Even if the content of an argument cannot be proven the quality of the argument should be considered.
Life isn't worth being that attentive to detail. How about this is a religious debate based on text/images relative to the discussion. Somehow I doubt proving Ermac a major player in Diablo III is on par with providing evidence, speculative or not, of Tyrael's corruption. I also doubt chocolate filled, elf-shaped cookies would pose a significant threat to anything blunt and nearby.

Those in the High Heavens would never taint themselves by drawing on demonic energies, but they know The denizens of the Burning Hells have no such inhibitions about using angelic powers for malignance. This imbalance of power would all but assure the High Heavens' loss in the war against the Burning Hells. Let demons, Lesser Evils, or Prime Evils possess a Nephalem for a long enough period of time and, with no World Stone supressing their hybrid nature, Hell's minions will learn to use both ends of the specturm and dominate the soldiers of Heaven.
