I think the new class will be some sort of ranger type class. One that can use both bows and melee weapons. I guess I'm baseing this assumption off of a wow style rogue, but to me, a d3 rogue seems like it would be too similar to the monk.

Destiny is no matter of chance, it is a matter of choice
so it IS confirmed that the last class is a returning class? or did I read it wrong?
when did this happen, the last I heard the barbarian was the ONLY returning class.
I think that the monster everyone thought was Diablo in the cinematic trailer could actually be Belial.
Think about it, Belial is known as the Lord of Lies. That monster looked like it had multiple mouths near its head. SO, it could be said that those mouths were symbolic of his nature.
i'm getting so sick of people assuming that blizzard HAS to bring the druid or the amazon back.
First of all, the druid was an expansion character... they weren't planning to be part of the game until the blizzard dev team was tasked with making 2 new classes. Druid is NOT necessary ... and never was.
Second, the amazon was a retarded class if you ask me. i never really understood why the heck they could attache elemental attributes to bows and javs...
I do agree that they will probably add some sort of class that has at least 1 bow build... but i hope to god that it is not the amazon, nor the hunter from WoW.
Hunters were always my least favorite WoW class, as they were totally overpowered. They were able to solo FAR to easy... and they were damn near impossible to PK, except in mass fights with a rogue ambushing them.

them.
It is part of the lore though, lived with the barbarians for some time. then were exiled to scosglen i think.
I was saying that the quoted post I was referencing was not considering that when it was asked if it will be based on "someone" from an older game, that someone could just as easily be an NPC or storyline character, it doesn't automatically mean it will be based on an old playable character. So, they wouldn't have lied when they said that they were not bringing back anymore characters from the old game since they would be bringing back a character based on the concept of an NPC- like a Horadrim Mage or a Vizjeri.
I know perfectly well when it is going to be announced, we were told during this BlizzCon.
Actually... what if we could make skills for the last class gender specific? A male "rogue" would deal with swords and a female "rogue" would use bows...
I'm fairly certain it was already said that gender is for aesthetic reasons, only.
I really don't agree with any of you guys' theories on blizzards class choices.
Think about Diablo 1, they made an awesome game with only 3 characters - Warrior, Mage and Rogue(Ranged).
Barbarian fills the Warrior role, he doesn't need masteries anymore because he is basically the beefy warrior role of all RPGs/ Hack and slashes.
He has shield mastery, dual wield, and i once saw a two handed mastery (not sure if its not going to be in the release).
Why do we need any other warrior class... the barbarian can probably pick any weapon he wants and make a build with it. Dual maces - Done. Dual axes - Done. Sword and shield - Done. Etc....
I am 95% sure that some form of bow build will be implemented into the game... However, I wouldn't be surprised if blizzard actually changed one of the barbarian builds and gave them some bow abilities. (Think Mongols)
We have the heavy melee , the light melee, the heavy dps magic, and the mixed magic... leaving only a ranged class.
Stop thinking in terms of D1 or D2 classes... think in line with RPG archetypes...
I'm guessing the last new character would be a bow-wielding character like the amazon or the archer. If it is not a archer type class than maybe something like the druid.
IMO the Witch Doctor seems like a hybrid of the druid / necromancer, so I doubt it's him.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
I really hope the last class is the Druid. I think there was a lot of missed potential with him in D2. He could be the most versatile class of the 5. With shapeshifting (my favorite), he's good at melee. With weather manipulation, he's great ranged. And with summons, he's great for support, crowd control, and so forth. And since he's a nature kind of guy, bows would be OK for him.
But really, if they're wanting another ranged character, the Amazon is the most obvious choice. I just really, really want a Druid, so I'm making up any reason to convince myself he has a good chance of being number 5.
Im almost 100% sure the last class will be a ranger or something. a mix between a druid and a rogue/amazon
Belial is the Lord of Lies. He's one of the lesser evils like Duriel and Andariel.
Actually, a amazon/druid mix would be interesting, although I'm not sure if there is any precedent for it in the lore.
I'm still pretty convinced that the 5th class will focus on ranged weapons, but it will likely be a different approach from what we saw with the Rogue and Amazon.
The new class is clearly going to be a hybrid of the Rogue, Zon and Druid classes... some kind of "Spirit Hunter" thing... hmm that name sounds WoW-ish. Let's just call it a hunter.
You'll have bow skills and some elemental stuff too. Probably some kind of sneaky tree involving stealth and deception as well. You know... think Aragon in Lord of the Rings, mix in a tree-hugging hippie with a penchant for carnage, and add a dash of Amazonian bow/jav/pike skills for good measure. Pheasants won't stand a chance.
Also, the predominant colour will be greenish since the other palette tones (Blues, Reds and Yellows) are taken already by the other 4 classes.
You can take that to the bank.
Edit: Heck he/she might even shapeshift every now and then. You can put that in that sneaky skill tree.
Does anyone else that went to Blizzcon 08' remember bows dropping for loot? I remember seeing a bow drop and having a conversation about it on the spot with my friend next to me.
This year I didn't see any bows, but I know for a fact that they dropped in '08. This could mean they had decided on a bow character and maybe changed their mind and took them out. Or they got smart this year and didn't allow bows to drop.
I can not imagine a Diablo game with no bow's in them. With all the skills the classes already have, there is no room for any of the classes to even use bows. And that quote from Jay Wilson about bringing back a second class from a previous game. Given that this quote was made a year after they said they would only bring one back. It is really hard to place a ranged character with a bow as anything but a Zon, Ranger, Rogue. (There is a snowballs chance in hell that they would call their character a hunter as everyone and their mothers would throw a shit fit because of WoW)
I can completely see them bringing back the Zon and justify male zon's as something like this:
"After the fall of the world stone, the Amazons realized they were prude and went and hooked up with the druids and had male and female combat babies that shoot arrows out of a bears ass"
Anyways, I would love it if they bring in a class and just called it something simple like Ranger.

It can't be an NPC. If Charsi for instance decided to join the "fight" what class would she be? Blacksmith? Nah... Rogue? OK. Boom, it's a returning class.
A "concept" class based on what we've seen?
Let's see what's left:
Witch
Healer
Innkeeper
Maid
Blacksmith
Rogue=Thief
Merchant
Sage
Caravaner
Drunk
Guard
Shaman
Prince
Alchemist
Shipmaster
Mercenary
Sorceror=Mage=your Vizjerei
Assassin
Angel
Amazon
Warrior
Archer=Bowyer (different from Rogue)
Priest
Archbishop
Necromancer
Druid
Townsperson
Master at Arms
Warlock
Paladin=Cleric
Bard
Cow
^Rough sketch. I'm not going to make flicks of their names since it will be the same thing. Also classes like "Iron Wolf", Bladesong or Angel don't mean anything. Classes revealed so far are very different and most importanty it is VERY obvious to someone who understands english what their "template" is just by hearing their names. Something too neutral like Soldier, Mercenary etc. or too specific like Archer will not be included either. Class names should be unisex as well considering both genders will be playable.
From all these let's see which ones make sense to conceptually use either a bow/crossbow or that aren't too alike the existing playable characters:
Rogue
Assassin
Bard
Hey, look ! They're all previous classes !
Maybe we should add shapeshifting archer. That might work, right?
And all these default char designs are very similar. Fusion is very likely. Well either that or we are not going to use ranged weapons.

Which come to think of, might actually work. Seriously. Any info on dropped bows on the demo anyone?

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD
Quote from "Archie" »
The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
Epic quotes... all of them

Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye
Something like THIS would be strange... Not your standard archetype. Combining Paladin and Archer
