Getting a little annoyed with Blizzard... They are debuffing all their characters while the WD gets HUUUUGE buffs. He can have over 100% reduced dmg (ALL DMG)
You do realize that you have played (or even not) less than 1/20 of the game, and you don't have a single clue how the classes perform at the later stages of the game. Besides, everything is subject to change before the game ships, that's why it's called beta.
Um you do realize we have all of the characters skills, and their runewords, and their passives right? Do realize we also have a good chunk of item database? He definitely has a clue about how the classes perform at later stages in the game, anyone with 2 seconds of google does.

NO ONE, not even you, has a clue how they perform at end game. We don't have 10% of the items that will be in diablo, and those that we do have are going to be changed / have more affixes put on them. Also, it's not runewords, it's 'runes', and while their effects are almost totally set in stone, there % and +'s will be changed before ship.
I think what he's talking about is the fact that with this build http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#b!.ah!Y, you would be invulnerable under 25% health and would just have to recast zombie dogs periodically. It has to be an oversight by Blizzard, and I'm sure it will be changed.

Well seeing how as in every other blizzard game, those % don't just auto stack. Just like if you have -50% dmg, so a 100 would hit you for 50, adding another -25% wouldn't make it hit you for 25, it would be -25% of the 50, so it would hit you for ~ 37. Diminishing returns ya'll. I'm also going to guess that theirs a cap in this game, just like every other game.
Theorycrafting is weak. In fact, THEORY is too strong of a word for theorycrafting. It should be called "basically guessing" crafting. Or something.
Even if you can perfectly calculate all the damage outputs and mana inputs and stat modification (hint: you can't, especially because you don't know all the hidden stats for spells), it's still worthless without a complete table of monster stats, a thorough knowledge of their AI, and a lot of approximations about your own performance.
There's a great deal of obsession with theorycrafters with raw damage output, but I guarantee you almost none of their so called "overpowered" builds will actually be good when they play the game. Why?
1.) Because resource management is at least as important as damage output. Health and Mana are often neglected in these builds, largely because you can't account for items very well. Even if you try to account for them, you will be wrong.
2.) Overkill. Raw damage is great, except when you're busting out 500 damage shots on 100 damage enemies. It's a massive waste, and the person who's build is very good at dealing 100 damage in large AOE will dominate yours. And because different types of enemies have different health, resistances, and AI, you can't account for everything. This is why enemy stats (which we have almost none of) are so important.
3.) Theorycrafting relies on perfect skills/gear/etc. During the game, this will not happen until 60. You won't even have all your skills and passives 'til 30, and your gear will never be exactly what you want it to be until you grind the endgame.
All this and more is why theorycrafting should not be taken seriously in balance considerations. It's basically guessing, and I guarantee you all the playtesters and QA guys at blizzard are much better at manually testing balance changes than you are at guessing at them.
That's a terrible answer though, because in all likelihood it's actually reasonably balanced. The problem is with people's terrible assumptions based on their theorycrafting.
Saying "it's the beta" is saying "yeah, it might be wrong, but they'll fix it." When actually, there's about a 99.99999% chance it's totally fine as it is at this very moment. And if it's not, well, they'll fix it.
WD was serverally under-par conpared to the other classes, Barb is OP atm, no other class can 1 shot Skeleton King, granted I know it took ALOT of work to get that 1 shot, but as it stands they just want the WD to seem appitizing, it will not remain that way, and will instead scale like the rest of the classes on launch when better gear will be available.
The beta just has shitty gear for the WD plain and simple.

Yea, I know, just trying to help people understand that they don't need to freak out. I swear every day I log in here there is at least one freak out post saying the game is now broken and not worth buying (or omg my class is now nerfed) and at least one "omg wal-mart has release date guyz!!" post. I think the latter people make accounts just to piss me off >.<
The former I understand are worried, because this is their baby just the same as it is for all of us. But anyone who knows Blizzard knows that they put out quality, and if there is an issue, they listen and address it (to an extent, obviously). So, RELAXXXXXXXXXX people.

True story, I know that's what you were driving at, and it's totally true
if the monks dodge% stacks exactly how the dmg reduction did, the monk could have a permanent 80% chance to dodge all the time and 100% chance for first 3 seconds of his mantra activation. stats have never stacked like this and they never will. very poor assumptions indeed. poor noob ive-never-played-an-rpg-or-mmo before assumptions.

This build is also a few weeks old already. They may have added that, then realized 'oh crap that adds up to ridiculous' and then the next day modified it, but the build was already sent off to be released for the beta so it just went live because it has no impact ON the beta since it involves high level stuff.

Are you serious?
we've only seen the first few monsters. We have not even seen the monsters from act 2 onwards. We don't know what abilities they have, or how much health they have, or how much damage they do. We know nothing about Nightmare onwards. We haven't even got a clue how the bosses work!
So it's great that we know how our abilities work, and the list of items on the Diablo 3 site database aren't even the completed items, just placeholders, so it's pointless to refer to that. So we know a bit about our skill functionality, and we have a vague idea of our items, but we have almost no idea of what we will need to fight.
So nice try, but no, he definitely has no idea of how the classes will perform at the later stages of the game.

has anyone noticed...
that this is a beta?
I deleted your extra line skips!
