1) Release date is already known and deadline is soon (hence Bz cannot do what they want in time).
2) Therefore Bz moto "When it is done" works only when their Activision moneybag-masters are satisfied with income, and taking in account that WoW is finally one-leg-in-a-coffin ... No Profit.
D3 entertainment expectation just lowered by 15%.
It seems Bz/Av are going in BW/EA footsteps.
This is a fucking joke. Lets not ship a full game?
They spend way too long on a whole bunch of changes, then say they cant add PvP for launch? What the actual fuck?
The little fucking indie dev that could GGG is rolling out PvP for its Beta in the next couple of weeks, they dont even have 1/10th of the funds that blizzard has, but yet apparently 10x the production team. This is a fucking disgrace. Every piece of information on this game I've read in the last 3 months has been a disappointment.
ill be 60 in less than a week, so unless they plan to have a major content patch roll out in week one, this will hands down for me honestly call blizzard a FAIL piece of shit. This one, takes the cake.
Scrap more systems, scrap more itemization, scrap the fucking enchanter, hell, why dont you just scrap the game? You're clearly not ready to release it, and cutting major systems is NOT the way to go about it. That whole "we take our time to do shit right" philosophy has just been completely contradicted time, and time again.
Release it tomorrow, idgaf, because if you release this without PvP and the first batch of people hit inferno and they cant PvP, you've fucking failed.
Thank god I found Path of Exiles, thank god indeed.

"...We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he to-day that sheds his blood with me
shall be my brother..."
Mad or happy? Most people will play the pve part first anyways. What are you gonna go in with a level 1? come on, think about it.
So true, by the time we get to our higher level's pvp should (hopefully) be ready!
... Simply put, this will NOT be the case. I would bet Lance Armstrong's remaining nut that someone will hit level 60 in the first 3 days of this game hitting shelve (if not much sooner). Are you telling me that they are going to implement the entire pvp system in a matter of a few days? No. It will be, at least, a month or two after release, before we get to experience the PvP system--if it were any sooner, the devs would simply just push the game back a few weeks and call it good. It's clear that they are very unpleased with the current state of their PvP system, and I, for one, am bothered by this. They have been developing this game for AGES.
I'm not going to be a big PvPer [never have been], but I find it laughable that many of you guys are 'excited' about this news. Will the game be out sooner because this delay? Sure. Will the product be nearly as good without PvP? No. I understand it sucks waiting, but releasing a game without all it's major system intact seems like patchwork.
But hey, whatever pleases the masses!
Well this is strictly your opinion that the game wont be better without pvp in it. People like me who have 0 interest in playing the pvp system feel that not having pvp in at launch doesnt effect the game one bit.
Let me get this straight. Since you don't PvP you don't mind this delay one bit? If it doesn't effect or matter to you, then why bother caring? That's fine as a player, but as a developer, you realize how terrible of an approach this is? What a naive myopic point of view that is. "If it doesn't effect me, then why should I care?". The
Remember, I don't care to really play PvP until I have played PvE until my eyes fall out, but the point is, a lot of people do. And to simply say, oh well it won't matter to me, doesn't cut it. Blizzard just told those people who were really looking forward to PvP(no matter how few people it is), "Sorry, we couldn't get out Sh!t together in time, so we are just going to release the game without the system to say we released it" ... sorry guys, this is lame.
It sucks for the people who do want to pvp. But you cant expect people who dont want to pvp to give a crap that it wont be in release is what im saying. And the fact that you are shocked that a major system wont be in the release of a Blizzard game makes me wonder if you have ever played any of their other games...
I find this really disappointing... but on the other hand, somehow, I think they made the right decision.
I'm not saying this because I want to play the game ASAP (though I do); I think that, since PvP really seemed lacking, and that since it's probably the biggest part of D3 that is holding up things, it isn't right to push back the release date since a lot of people won't even play PvP.
I can't speak for everyone, but for me, PvP becomes interesting at the very end of the game when you want to take a break from gear hunting. That happened in both D2 and WoW, and if it's going to take a while to play through all the acts and difficulties, and experience each character, PvP Arenas will be out in a patch by that time.
It's really disappointing that they cut yet another feature, especially a feature that draws a large portion of players (as a lot of people suspected they would, whether jokingly or seriously), but I think I'm okay with their decision. If the PvP system is pretty done, just not as done as they feel appropriate for release, giving them extra time on that while we dive into PvE and everything sounds like a good idea to me. Let's hope they really make it up to us with some crazy PvP implementations later.
I'm going to echo your thoughts here..
This hurts to read.. but my reaction is split between being utterly depressed that I can't get into the PvP game right away and knowing they made a tough call to get the game out sooner.. which makes me happy.
Some one above posted "maximum of two months to get the PvP patch out".. I really hope it happens that fast.. if it does.. I can almost happily deal with it.. if it takes longer than that.. like in the 6mo - year range.. it will really really be a bad thing.
Not to mention, this is going to make the wait till D3x that much longer..
Well.. ultimately.. this means we can all but expect a release date on monday. We got a "couting the days" out of the lead game designer.. days means.. just that.. days.. and its 3 days till Monday.. they always announce release dates on mondays.
Here is hoping for a sooner than accpected date.. such as April 17th or 24th.
I'm glad they are working on getting the game out ASAP, but I find it funny how many systems they have been cutting to help speed it up. Seems to contradict their previous statements that the game will be released when its done, and they want to make sure its completely developed before they release it. There must be a lot of pressure from activision / mike / shareholders to get it out...
If their work with patching channels and shit into SC2 then expect PvP patch in about half a year. I can't believe how bad they are doing at developing this game it's comical. 10+ years to develop it and they still have no idea what they are doing. Do us a favor Blizzard, release the game...and just let it die. Diablo would of been better off dying with 2 and at least go out on a win. Get Jay out of office cause that fool is confused as hell.
While I don't like PVP and won't do it; it does make me wonder what they've been doing for the past 3-4 years or so. The number of things getting cut recently is astounding.
Not that I'm intrested in PvP... but this is just sad. Oh and I wouldnt expect the patch too soon... its probably gonna be a Blizzard "soon".
this is an acceptable cut to get the game to us ASAP. this just makes me believe itll be a very short time frame between release announcement and release, because if they had 8-12 weeks they would be able to finish this

"once the pretty hardcore gamers we had testing inferno found it fairly difficult, we then we doubled it" -trolololol jay wilson
It would be one thing if we hadn't been waiting what seems like forever for this game, but since we have - this is crap. It's like Blizzard thinks that since everyone wants release so bad that if they preface everything they take out of the game with "we didn't want to hold up release for this" that it makes everything OK. It's not OK. It's crap. It is yet another failure of this development team to deliver on an aspect of the game that could have made the game better upon release. I sincerely hope that all of these feature removals don't go unpunished within the company.
And I'll tell you what else it is - last I checked, PVP doesn't drop items that can be sold on the RMAH. Therefore, one could make the case that leaving out PVP for a while could very well end up putting more items on the RMAH if players choose to farm items until PVP arrives. Everyone will want the best gear when that day comes. Blizzard hopes you go to the RMAH for your upgrades. End result = No PVP means more profit for Blizzard.
Depending on how long this takes to be released, this may be good and it may be awful. I for one am playing PvE souly to find items for my PvP builds. I find MF items to build up my MF so I can find the proper items for my PvP characters, not so I can kill monster slightly faster... c'mon. If they don't have PvP released by the time I'm 60, which I imagine won't take more than two months based on current leveling pace (I could be wrong) then this will be a major fail. They should at the very least have an open dueling area (ie: outside rogue encampment) where people can challenge each other in 1v1 duels to pass the time while we wait for proper arenas. This is something I think the game needs anyways, as you always want to test yourself against your friends to see who is better, and in a team only environment that just isn't possible. So Blizzard, PLEASE do not delay this too long after release... PLEASE!!!
As happy as I am that the game will be coming out sooner, this aggravates me. PVP is a hefty chunk of Diablo for me and I feel that I won't consider the game "complete" until they patch it in.
While I'm hopeful that it will be ready for us by the time I've got a level 60, I can't say I'm too confident in Blizzard's ability to release content within a reasonable time span... I guess I'll be stalking some sort of release date even after I've got my hands on the game.

Blizzard does take their time, until its clear they are out of time.
They need to get D3 out in front of MoP, their real cash cow. This is the reason for the "rush".

Blah blah blah... oh wait, what is this? Let's take a closer look.
I'm just taken aback by it is all. Neither good nor bad, just very unexpected.

PvP patch later is still good news. I don't want to PvP without playing the characters and knowing their strengths and weaknesses first.
