What do you think is the real problem on D3 and why people just get bored in about 2-3 months after expansions or patchs?
The answer for me is the low amount of items to farm. It is just like 1-2 good items per slot at each class... This should be increased to 5-10 items, and also adding the rune system of D2 adding new secundaries to your items and trying new things.
Why this is a problem? Cause everyone is looking for the same items and it is annoying... Just see clones and clones everywhere... The mechanic gameplay of Diablo is totally messed up.
I think the same as you, just you specified some problems... But generally it just the items... The best classes are those who has better items bonifications.
I agree that 2hd weapons should roll with 2 sockets. Also, no item should roll with 1-x sockets but with a fixed amount of them (current max values). No roll is worse than non-max sockets.
Also, solo-play is in a bad spot. The "Unity-Set" somehow fixes the issue of having to soak all the damage that gets split in a multiplayer game, but the rarity makes it too hard to get for the average player.
And then there you get more riftstone key-fragments in multiplayer and use less. Combined that means 5 bounties per rift solo and 5 bounties per multiple rifts in a group.
I edited some numbers out because I was told that was not correct.
Playing 18hrs a day and still going i can see the thing that gets me being lack of viable build diversity and lack of end game content t6? feels like normal mode now when you get geared
Variety of items - Moonlightward was one of the best items to have on PTR and it dropped for everyone. Now only Wizard. Poison is very boring enchant atm, be cool to have a poison moonlightward and more poison items. (Don't copy legendarys though exact proc different damage)
More class specific items. - The return of Barb Helmets for ex.
Relics for templar/enchant/scon for Classes that roll random stats. (New gear slot works like charms)
Random Rift Encounters (Cow Level more often, random events in rifts)
Paragon rewards every 200 levels having a extra rune for 1 skill, another tree that allows you to put points into 1 stat in the whole game anything. Just more rewarding paragon.
MORE UBER REWARDS - Having amulets and rings maybe even weapons that can do special things. ex: Chance on hit - shoot a conduit beam from your weapon. Chance on upon death - gain the shield pylon for 3 seconds. Chance on cast - Power pylon for 1 second. Just something new and rewarding..dont make them BIS but make them worth getting if they are going to keep current key drop rate!
Being able to fully gear your follower.
Making 5 player co-op.
Gems being competitive and more of them.
Theres so much they can do, a lot I suggest is patch/expansion stuff.
Instead of fixing issues that involve everyone... stuff like "stat-stick" legendaries (which Wyatt so conveniently pussied out on), PvP, ubers, monks (and bad skills in general), gems/sockets, etc... they have chosen to further divide the playerbase with ladders and ladder-only items.
They have the opportunity to make the game better for everyone, and they've dumped a ton of time into making it better for... some. I don't appreciate that decision at all.
I agree here, I mean It's one thing to devote some time to Seasons. But devote a lot of the time to Seasons, and then complete that before doing any of the more meaningful stuff is kind of retarded in my opinion. PvP has been promised since LAUNCH. THEY STILL HAVEN't IMPLEMENTED EVEN A SIMPLE 4V4 GAME MODE! What's up with lack of 2Handers, It honestly doesn't take much to fix. Double roll stats on everything and bring their damage in line with a 1 hander, or keep the higher damage per tick but lower the As and balance out the stats, they've had roughly a year to do this and nothing has been done about it. Not to mention Gems which fucking blow currently. Give us some fun things, and don't make it X deals more Damage by X% I can't stand damage mods. Everything is just a fucking Damage mod in this game, give me something that changes how I play! Change my skill through special gems, make it so I want to use different builds. Right now It's just so cookie cutter for some classes, namely DH and WD. At least with Wizard you can go in different elemental directions, but still there's such a lack of mechanic changing legendaries that it bothers me a lot. This game could be so much better if they just focused on making legendaries feel legendary, and change the way they work our skills.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
The biggest problem I have right now is ladder. Rather, the announcement of ladder without the actual ladder. It kills my motivation for playing until ladder actually starts.
I feel that the real problem with D3 is the reduction of key components of the game instead of the addition or expansion.
I feel that Diablo 3 veered off course a bit to hard in an attempt to "break the mold".
diablo 1 and 2 had these upward trends in regards to varied monsters, varied activities , varied gear , varied stats , varied character improvement options. As time went on each of these were growing in size and in number among probably many more subjects I havent listed..
in any case, Diablo 3 vanilla came along after what can be summarized as world consuming anticipation only to reveal that they:
reduced the activities.
reduced the variety of gear.
reduced the stats.
reduced the character improvment options.
It felt like a big hacked open wound, and now they are trying to stitch it back together with the expansion.
In both WoW and D3, blizzard has engaged in a "less is more" philosophy. Their rational makes sense to me, particularly in their removal of skill tress. Dozens of options doesn't equate to dozens of viable builds. It usually equates to 1~3 good builds and 50+ awful builds. I don't miss the old skill trees one bit. I can customize plenty with the current skill selection system. And I have fun tweaking and adjusting on the fly.
The problem with a less-is-more system is that balance issues can become glaringly obvious even to casual players. As someone mentioned earlier, crit chance/damage are significantly better than other stats. Sockets on weapons, pants, and chest are mandatory. Etc. Certain stats and legendaries aren't just BiS, they're lightyears ahead of the 2nd best option. Upgrades don't always feel incremental, particularly when I acquire the one or two desired legs for that slot. My upgrade path is usually: wear any crap while leveling, at 70 see what junk I have in my stash or what yellows drop, replace yellows/dregs with BiS item, only replace BiS item with better rolled BiS item (which almost never happens).
The biggest problem i have with D3 is the socket system we have.
It always hurts my heart to see countless of weapons being tossed away because they don't have room for an emerald, which also makes dual wield the better option if avaiable. Of course on chest and pants you NEED gems too, but the bonus provided by them is so uninspired, just flat stat increase and there is no reason to use diamonds or the gem that increases your main stat, depending on your toughness.
The whole socket system should be reworked, without a doubt.
I agree with everything most people have posted in this thread, but i also agree, that there are so many posts about this...and nothing ever comes of it, its nice to talk about what we hate/love/dislike in d3 but other than having a nice dream of a world where our d3 is awesome or better...keep dreaming?
Anyways i think the whole game is a wash from the start of vanilla, the entire item system has been broken/junk since the beginning, and although its gotten better, it still is so very lacking, in every way, from bad legs, to stats that dont scale, 2hand weapons, gems, no charms, no jewels, no depth at all, and class skills even now require little thought or skill to make, stack element, pick skills that do that element, profit?
They are still holding onto thorns damage, and have a few classes have thorns passives, and a thorns set even? I mean yes i guess its effective only if you make an entire build around it, but does it really add to the complexity or fun factor of a build? Its powerful, but it just seems silly to me somehow they could come up with way better stat/build possibilities than thorns
there are those oddball builds, but in all seriousness if you want to progress to t6 and be farming efficiently, none of those can get you there, if you just wasnt to mess around and enjoy the game, sure those builds can do that.
But when it comes to end game builds, that let you steamroll t6 once geared, there are only like maybe 1-2 per toon, most only have 1 really viable one, and a 2nd that is so-so, and while some classes it requires a ton of gear and tons of farming, others like the WD can go from fresh 70 to t6 in record time, and survive better than others, hiding behind pets and cruising along
+Add Charms, Runewords, Jewels, More Sockets (and a way to ADD a socket to an item via blacksmith?)
+Buff all legs that are just stat sticks, and fix stats like Wrath of the Black King, having 2% crit max roll? worthless?
+More ways to upgrade/enchant your gear, beyond just trading 1 stat for another
+More variety of items, Barb helms (was mentioned before) Make existing class items better, (Mighty Belts? worthless atm)
+give us the feeling that when a legendary drops you are excited to see it drop or what it is, rather than "oh look another 2hander free soul" x10
+more items and stuff that interacts with skills, maybe that's what jewels/runes/charms could do?
+Better Paragon system, more rewards at x level, bring back getting main stat/vit at each level up or maybe every 5 levels, maybe give us a baseline all resist that goes up as you level up? Increase the Crit to 10% instead of just 5%, same for AS and Crit damage, make CD +100%, make AS +10% make the lower paragons not feel like a black hole you are just feeding into to reach max, to get rewarded, and get nothing till then, what do you get at 200? 1 50/50 stat, and then 200 more levels just to get a 2nd? that's a lot of levels with nothing in between but nickel and dime progression
+tie in all resist to mainstat, esp for DH, would love to have 1k all resist just for having 10k dex, like wizard does for having 10k int? would make DH a bit more tougher, which they still need, the band-aid passive they gave us in 2.05 is meh
+fix dodge, block and armor to be aucutally useful and worth stacking and using other than crusader make paragon give more +armor per point so its useful, currently 50/50 in it still is so weak really, Dodge should be viable if u stack enough (monk/DH) make dex give you crit? tie more into the base stats
i could go on, long post is long...but yeah...so many people have suggested all of this so many times...someday maybe blizzard will aucutally listen like they say they do....

2 handed weapons should be able to roll with 2 sockets.
cool down reduction should be additive and cap at 75% (would lead to new builds perma zerker, frostnova wizards, holy monks spaming SSS and being fun)
and to take something form another blizzard game take wow's seneraios to live out some of the coolest moments in diablos history

I just want to spam rifts.
People get bored because they exploit the game to death, or have the wrong (mmo) expectations of an ARPG like Diablo 3.
The biggest problem is all the players who look for things to dislike rather than enjoying a game for just what it is.
(There was never this kind of whine in the Diablo 2 communities.)
