I don't know of Blizz games in which you can't map out your entire mouse to different things. What Blizz doesn't want is when entire groups of macros are initiated by a single press of a button. Which can happens with some Logitech and Razer keyboards. You'll be fine though.

I'm fairly certain you can't. Since that way the game will have different logins. All expansion of a game need to be on the original game's account. So don't try anything like that in the future. You can make separate accounts for SC2 + future expansion; WoW + all expansion; Diablo 2 + LoD; etc. But not separate ones.

Nah Molsterr, there's still a huge gap since us EU players live with the French servers. So we only know GMT +1.

Yeah, I was mostly talking about keeping stuff. All betas of Blizz have always wiped out all player progress upon release. But yes, often times preordering gives you beta access. It's cool. :]

Over time the terminology for both words has evolved in gaming. Guild is usually professional with lots of support for grouped play. While clan is usually a team of players that like playing with each other often. All FPS organizations are called clans, while in big MMOs the word is usually guild, even though some developers tend to rename them just to feel like a unique snowflake, or in the case of sci-fi games where it doesn't make sense.

Blizz have always been fair to everyone and has treated all equal when it comes to game releases. There's no "preorder plays earlier". After managing a community of 10s of millions they know that nothing good comes out of letting people that have more money/live in a better country be able to play before others.

There are hundreds of thousands of people that play in couples on a single PC. I used to do that with my wife 4 years ago before we bought a laptop. It's perfectly fine. But the more machines you have the greater the chance they pick you, so have that in mind.

Again, there is zero reason to be worried.

EDIT: And for the SC2 key, pff, are you kidding? You had to be extremely lucky to NOT get a beta key. Every guy and his dog and the dog's 3 puppies had at least 5 keys each. :]

I don't see a reason for this. Guilds exist in MMORPG's because the majority of content is based on group play. This helps plenty with organization. In Diablo though everything will be soloable, and while most players would have friends that they'd like sharing the experience with, you can _totally_ do it yourself. All of it. So no point in having Guilds in the way that they currently work in MMOs. Also, there might be some achievements for group play, but that's all.

With that being said Clan support (like the chat channels) is welcome. Maybe in the future some group achievements like "Have 10 players in your clan bypass Normal difficulty" with a small reward like... a unique dye color? Bought from a Clan Vendor with unique merchandise? Or perhaps that's a good way to implement pets (which would still be very lovely in a Diablo-like game).

Ah, well, playable, not sure about Cata. I think there was indeed a certain wait for the servers... but can't really remember. You should consider though, that Diablo 3 isn't played on realms, which means you can log in at 12:01 and someone else on _your_ realm from the other side of the continent will not be waiting 3-4 more hours.

What I mean is, like in SC2, everyone's playing field is separate and there won't be any "unfair" situations. It's just the time zones in the way.

Explain "our time" as I'm CET +2.

Do you mean if it's gonna be released locally at 12:01 at each separate time zone? If so, then yes.

Edit: I got both Cata and SC2 at 12:01 in my time zone.

posted a message on Is there going to be a server maintenance day?
You guys need to get a few things included in your calculations. Diablo 3 is way more like WoW than SC2.

In SC2 there's almost nothing to be tracked or stored on Blizz servers. Almost everything is stored client side. There are are few statistics here and there, mostly win/lose ratios, achievements and campaign tracking. Algorithms for points and ladder standings. But that is all. There's no need to check if the hardware is performing well since there's not a lot of stuff that is needed to load on the servers.

In Diablo 3 the entire characters are stored on the servers (WoW), their skill choices (WoW), their inventories (WoW), their stash (WoW) and ofc the progress of each character which is far more than making the servers remember "Mission 2 has been completed". Also each game is randomized and all the randomization is handled server side with only the models/textures being on the client. Each item dropped on the ground is handled by the servers (WoW). There are far too many similarities to WoW than to SC2.

With that being said... WoW is closing in on being 7 years old now and the server architecture may have been figured out by Blizz engineers already. Hopefully that's the case since, of course, no one would want a full night of not being able to play. Just like in WoW.

The hotfixes being mentioned will of course be handled instantaneously and content patches will require scheduled maintenance. But that has been the Blizzard way for years. No need to speculate on it.

Unless this image is outdated, zoom is still in. I for one hope it is still in; I loved the idea of being able to zoom in and see my items in all their glory :D

    Edited for clarity
That's still just an autozoom thing so that you can see how the gear changes on your char. Not sure if the normal scroll zoom will make it.

I imagine this is an appropriate topic to ask. Can you zoom at all in D3? Haven't read anything about it. And if not is there a blue post giving any reason? Cause apart from D2 ALL RPG's out there had a zoom feature. :]

    Why does D3 need it?
I often like looking at the detail of monsters/equipment/special effects/decoration/doodads. Adds flavour.

Or they could slice some of the screen off at the top (making 16:10 give you the most view).

    The 704 by 440 screenshots are 16:10

If 16:9 showed more of the game, maybe they would have chosen that aspect ratio for their screenshots???
Or maybe... just maybe... the guy that did that screenshots has a monitor that only supports 16:10.
In any way, 16:9 will always show more space and the reason was given by Winged a few posts above.
