Its not a WoW reference but the Treasure Goblin seen in the beta is a clear reference to similar creatures in the old Golden Axe game. http://youtu.be/wiEwrv6nbiQ I wonder if we'll see references from other games.

They had the same sort of thing in Dungeon Siege II as well.
And in Castlevania, though somewhat badly implemented. But I so did love it in Golden Axe! Hopefully the mechanic is equivalent.

Well I want a buttefrly companion with bright yellow/blue/purple/cyan colors. It's what I feel a Diablo game is all about. So there.

I believe in D3, for the first time, we might actually get a glimpse of Wirt's arm.

Until recently I was so happy with this D3 community and thought I could've found a place I belong, among intelligent people with good discussions and such. But this topic is really opening up my eyes.

Dayum. Didn't notice one of us said FSAA will help make textures look better. Wasn't my point anyway. The only thing I saw that was a bit disappointing were exactly the jagged edges of characters. Where FSAA will make a huge difference, as you pointed out. Also no one said anything about lightning in the topic.

Anyway, Blizz said DX11 support "mainly for FSAA", but they never said it's the only feature they'll be adding. FSAA may not be a DX11 feature but Bashiok pointed out that this is exactly what they'll implement with DX11 support. :]

Press beta is just a pre-reserved assured slot. That's really it.

They'll be in day one of closed beta.
I heard that press will get 1 day before everyone else in the closed beta to get a good review of the game ?
Review based on beta? Doesn't make much sense to me. Games without beta - sure. Press events aiming to set higher market value - ok. But that this doesn't make much sense.

Everything will be a LOT better when Blizz manage to implement FSAA. No worries. :]

Just notcied Ent1ty posted pretty much the exact same thing. Still - reiterating. ^^

Scroll of companions are sort of pets but they run around picking your gold up. Maybe i was not very clear when i said DLC what i actually meant was something you can buy at the Blizzard store
Indeed. DLC is content, e.g. stuff to go through and experiences to be had. The Blizz store offers only cosmetic upgrades that benefit no one but are sometimes nice to look at. And if you're asking if Blizz will release Diablo stuff on the Blizz store... of course they will. Actually Diablo is the perfect game out of the 3 existing franchises. There will seriously be a LOT of things in the Blizz store. Companions are one such that I'm very looking forward to.

@TagDerEnte3 Well obviously some people find it OFFENSIVE that Blizz would want to add new stuff to a new game that isn't anything like the old version of the game! Why, just the thought of it! Ludicrous! Takes you right out of the immersive gameplay experience!

Blizz will not be releasing any DLCs for any of their games ever. :]
For CE though it sounds interesting, but it would be too beneficial. CEs usually offer cosmetic incentives. Like portraits. What wouldn't surprise me is unique banner arts, probably a pet (that does nothing but follow you around) and most definitely rewards in WoW and SC2. Also metaachivements with the 2 other games over Bnet and a Feat (achievements that give no points but are for showing off).

Other then that your guess is as good as mine. But nothing that helps one person have an advantage over another.

Yeah, he says "greed". And this isn't the secret level. We already know what the secret level is.
That was the point I was trying to say. Who really believes there will be just "one" secret level? Wouldn't it be a lot better to have multiple?

Was Uber Diablo not something special next to the Cow Level?

I think you might be on to something there... Although I have a feeling this is will be one of MANY secrets players will have to find over the course of the first few months.

Very, very interesting though. Ludicrous even.

I just think that this game is supposed to be, you know, immersive. Every reference piece will remind people that they are, in fact, playing a video game, and are not immersed in the world of Sanctuary. In a game that gives you dance commands or gives you a quest where you sit there and be the guy who hands out quests, sure, some giggly moments and tributes are pretty much ensured. But this is Diablo. It's not that I don't want this game to "become WoW," since that will never happen; it's that I want this game to be Diablo, and I have always appreciated Diablo for being an unswayable fortress of a video game. The only thing that Diablo borrows from other games is purely mechanical, and the only jokes it allows into itself are jokes about itself (such as the cow level.)

Long story short: when I'm playing the game, I don't ever want there to be a moment when I'm reminded that I'm playing a game.
I am sorry to point these out to you but... you leave me no choice.
Blade of Ali Baba, Frozenstein, Messerschmidt's Reaver... etc. Just check the names in the D2 easter egg part of the wiki. I'm pretty certain there are as well many more that people just haven't caught up to. Everything Blizz adds to their games is a reference to something in the real world. Well, almost everything. The names are usually very well hidden though. The point is that with vague things like Tancred people thing it's something they made up and it gets immersive. While in actually a _lot_ of content and names are copied from favorite things that the Blizz developers share.

That is also the case with WoW, but there have been over 25 milion people that played it (estimated from a recent financial call with Morhaime) and so the references get quite easier to spot by the shear number of people with different backgrounds.

I am in no way saying they should slap pop culture in Diablo and see where you're coming from and what you want out of it. And I'm totally fine with it. Just know that this is the way Blizz operates and we will definitely see a lot of it. Especially from other Blizzard names.

Again as other people pointed out, if you've not played the other games you won't even be aware those are actual easter eggs. So by all means, you can totally ignore wowhead-like sites that will inevitably be made, in which people will point these things out. :]

Overzealous much guys? Wirt's legs say hello from most WoW and Warcraft 3. It's all fun and games, don't hate on WoW just because it's more colorful. There are plenty of iconic things that can be translated wonderfuly. I bet 10 euro there's a Leeroy reference in Diablo. :]
