The underlying idea as to why I believe that is that Sanctuary is the tool needed to win, and the Three realize this. Now, they faked the exile, as is evident by Andariel and Duriel rejoining them, but I think it might have backfired with Azmodan and Belial starting their own little homegrown war. It is possibly that it was planned for those two to stay behind and guard Hell, but things got out of hand when they got the power they now wield as lords of Hell.
EDIT: And Veltras, that topic took a lot of muster out of me last time I discussed it, I think we ought to leave it for now. At least until we get some more canon from Blizzard
So are Azmodan and Belial still duking it out down there?

As far as my thinking goes, yes.
Although theoretically, the whole war could also be a ruse to fool the High Heavens. However from a storytelling point that would in my mind not be a path Blizzard would consider walking down. It also seems to serve little purpose, as the war is really not very well known.
As for the Worldstone, we're told it was to open Sanctuary for Hell to enter freely, working sort of like a part of Hell. Of course, we do not know if this is true. Tyrael is the one who tells us if I remember correctly.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Sorry if this is kind of random, but did any of you ever think how odd it is that Baal's and Mephisto's soulstones were stored in elaborate, grand places, while Diablo's was just underneath a backwater town in the middle of nowhere?
Im surprised no one looked into this one much. It says that after Diablo was captured there was a (at the time) magnificent monastary built above his chamber to keep watch of him. Its not that he started in a crappily protected place, its just that it fell into neglect and people forgot about the soulstone after all of its guardians died
That book took place during Diablo 2. Darrick was cursed by Kabraxis, but he also gained tremendous power. He had demonic healing and the sword, Stormfury. I have a feeling he make a cameo.
cameo=appearance. He decided to use his powers for good at the end of the book but that might mean that Kabraxis will consume him much like the lord of terror consumed the D1 hero.
Another question...Ok, i always heard that the countess quest was based on a true story. Well, nobody ever said what that story was about. I've searched the web several times but to no avail. So could someone tell me about the real story or give me a link to it?

But I can tell you that her voice-actor seems to be the same actor who does the voice for the Sorceress in Diablo II (Liana Young). But I could be wrong, I'm just going by sound (I listen to the Diablo NPC sound clips often, and when the girl in the cinematic spoke, I felt like I recognised her voice).
But that does not mean she is a Sorceress. Blizzard often use the same voice-actors for multiple characters.
who is the girl in the diablo 3 cinematic opening?
I think she is voiced by the woman who did the voice for the sorceress, or maybe the Rogue from D1.
It's a teaser. I cannot be counted as lore yet, anyone remember that old teaser thing with the warrior throwing the soulstone away? That was just a teaser, he clearly has the soulstone in the game. You smashed it! (in a cinematic)

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I got a question, who is the girl in the diablo 3 cinematic opening?
Maybe the playful rumors of Cain and Malah getting freaky over the years have led somewhere?
Anyway, I have a question of my own.
It's been a while so someone correct me if my understanding is wrong.
The Warrior, Rogue, and Sorcerer from D1 were corupted and became The Wanderer, Blood Raven, and The Summoner in D2, correct?
If that's the case, I'm wondering if there's any type of corrupting of the hero classes of D2? Or did they all just die of old age since D3 takes place 20 years afterward?
Oh yeah, do we know how old Cain really is?

I think she might be a relative or pupil of some sort
