May 4, 2012Well, it seems like the Heat are doing pretty well, Bulls are totally bust and the Spurs came from behind to grap the nr1 seed in the west. I still have Heat in the Finals, but I'm not so sure who will make it out of the west. Lakers, Thunder and Spurs are seem likely contenders.Posted in: Off-Topic

Can't be done in the window of time we're talking about here unless you increase the drop-rates of uniques etc. in the game files.Quote from Dawn
I'm only level 25 and in normal at the moment though, so I'm just using whatever items I find along the way (doesn't really matter). But I want to find some really good gear when I beat hell. Any tips/locations on how/where you guys would find all of the gear listed in hammerdin guide above? Thanks!
I can't recall whether a Hammerdin is gear dependent or not, but beating Hell in SP is hard since you will basically only get shit gear. I'd recommend either going with a dual-spec sorceress (cold/fire or cold/lightning) or a summoning necromancer. Those classes require the least gear and can take Hell with with basically only their skills. It will still be tough though.

All right. And Baal's soulstone was destroyed when it merged with the Worldstone.Quote from Firewolx
The souls of the prime evils were put into soulstones. Through corruption or self-sacrifice (D1 main character and Tal Rasha), the soulstones were inserted into the hosts, making them prone to corruption. After some time the prime got full control over their hosts. Later on in Diablo II, the hosts were killed and the soulstones of the prime evils were destroyed (exception might be the soul stone of baal?). Because the soulstones were destroyed, the souls of the prime evils were banished to the Black Abyss.
Well we still don't know what that place is or how it works, but this does seem to be the case, at least for demons, that their souls cannot be destroyed. But we don't really know for sure.Quote from Firewolx
Supposedly souls cannot corrupt or take over anyone from the Black Abyss.
Is the above statement true? It might be possible to summon souls from the Black Abyss. I'm wondering if there's any way to 'kill' the souls of demons. If the souls cannot be killed, there's never going to be an end to the demons.

All perfectly explained I'd say. Always remember that there's a necessary disjunction between what happens in the story and what must by necessity happen in the gameplay for the game to be enjoyable at all.Quote from Doomscream
Gameplay-wise it wouldn't make much sense upon leaving town to not encounter any mosnter in less than 2 screens away
Sactuary is a dangerous place on it's own, it has a lot of unique nasty monsters to it. Most of the monsters outside Act 2 for example are the wild beasts of the desert that just have gone extremely feral, because of Diablo's presence, but as I said the commoner would have never made that connection. The lacuni (cat people) are also a nice example, they were peaceful before, but when the troubles began they started killing travelers, no one will rush and say that this is because of a demonic taint, but simply acredit it to their more bestial and primitive heritage.
It's sometimes tough and can seem rather arbitrary when something is part of the story and when it isn't, but such is the reality of a game story.
Apr 18, 2012It would have been fun if there had been actual hidden areas though wouldn't it? Though by now we would undoubtedly all know of them anyway.Posted in: Diablo II
That was an old version of Azurewrath (with different stats). I believe it was upgraded to an elite unique in LoD.Quote from gran0ls
Off-topic: With same necro i found unique crystal sword, which i think was removed in later patches, because i can't find it in databases like arreat summit nowadays. And that was drop from normal Duriel! Yeah,weirdness...

A really simple thing we should start with is simply to place the dialog at the bottom of the page and move the skills up. That'll still make it long, but all relevant game information will be available up top.
Still, I'm pretty confident adding all follower dialog to one article will make it well over 100k big. It will be a lot of loading, perhaps having dedicated "dialog" page for followers and classes might be a good idea eventually? We could see how dialog develops once the game is released first though.
Basic ones can be made from Template:Navbox. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out I don't thinkQuote from Sojourna
Not sure how to create a navigation box(?) if that's what you're referring to, but there's ways to find out...
Apr 10, 2012I am not sure what you are asking. Are you wondering what templates and pages would have to be set up in order to condense all relevant information about an item into a list? So that one line could display not only the recipe cost but also item data about the final item?Posted in: DiabloWiki
It should be possible to do, but to combine the data of both the target item and the recipe page would require a new template.
Also note that the Recipe pages you are talking about are actually data pages that have ended up in the wrong namespace. Eventually we'll move them, but for now they work as they are.
So what would have to be done is create a list template for this, possibly modify one of the current ones instead. That's actually it, that should be ebough in order to create lists similar to what appear on item lists such as Belt List.
Apr 4, 2012Posted in: DiabloWiki
No doubt. But there's still not much to do about it right now
Indeed my suggestions seem a bit far fetched, but I think it's no harm to have a "vision" of things beforehand so when things go live it's easier to add things up in an orderly fashion.
We'll definitely have something like that, but I'm not sure dividing dungeons and outdoors makes that much sense. One naturally progresses into the other. Perhaps one article with all would make more sense.
@4 I think a general article called "Outdoor" sharing a similar layout to "Dungeons" listing all outdoor zones divided in 4 acts and perhaps adnotation about the mlvl in the zone on all 4 difficulty modes. So when somebody is for example lvl 50 and things start get hard for him, because maybe he rushed a bit in the content, he can jump in to the outdoor section and see, that the zone he should be for lvl 50 so the content is not outleveled (too easy) but not too hard aswell, should be.. X.
Apr 4, 2012If you're like me then you get constantly frustrated by the problem of getting powerful enough gear for melee characters in SP, which is a problem. To really excel with such item-dependent characters in Hell you really need top-tier gear, which just isn't available in SP regardless of how much you farm.Posted in: Diablo II
Pretty much all melee classes run into this problem unfortunately. So on the bright side I guess you could really pick anything, as it won't matter much come Hell
That being said, you could take a look here for some tips: Class Builds (Diablo II)

1) Adding the link to the "Pages of Training" Article to the main page under Crafting category.
Once the game launches this sounds like a good idea, but right now there's very little info regarding what these towns are. Sure, we know Caldeum is a hub, but we have no idea what NPC's, quests etc. appear there. That's why the front page has the current beta content.
2) In the World column add a new Category "Towns" or "Hubs" - which will be probably act I-IV starting zones with the Artisans caravans - New Tristram, Caldeum etc. - Add the 4 (?) Towns below.
Once again related to the beta stage, but also a space issue. We won't list all zones on the main page once the game is released, but only those of the highest importance. Perhaps it will be towns and acts, perhaps some dungeons, I don't know. Right now in the beta however there isn't that much, so individual areas are also listed just to fill up the column.
3) Since there is a "Dungeons" category, why not add an "Outdoor" as well, where we could find a list of all outdoor zones divided by Acts and with information about the possible random dungeons spawning in them .
Something similar to what was used http://classic.battl...maps/act1.shtml is very friendly to read.
Perhaps. Do you think we should add an outdoor category for it?
4) Dungeons Category -> I'm not sure Cemetery of the Forsaken should be a "Dungeon", rather an "Outdoor" I think.

At the start of the season, I would say Derek Rose for MVP, but how can you be MVP when your team wins without you? I think well see the MVP race clear up when we get to some the end of season and the playoff race begins.

If this were true, you could still trade with other regions through the GAH. Since your characters outside of your home region can use the GAH, the Shared Stash must be region specific or trading can indeed take place between regions.Quote from WishedHeHadBeta
are you serious? the shared stash is shared between all characters on one account regardless of what server your playing on or what your home region is. the home region lock means that you can only sell items on the RMAH in THAT region regardless of where your characters get these items (us east, EU, us west). so you can get items from all three of these servers but only be able to put them on the home region where its locked... its VERY simple...
Dec 23, 2011Posted in: News
Perhaps that's because they don't yet know how effectively they will be able to prevent it. A lot of this is going to boil down to how expensive it will be to circumvent these checks, and how effectively Blizzard can police them. Which will be hard to know prior to release.Quote from Greenjoke
I wish they would just answer the question half the players actually want to know the answer to: If you live in EU/Americas, can farming teams in Asia sell things on the auction houses you use?
It seems like they are trying to prevent that from happening, but they aren't sharing all of the information with us.
Dec 23, 2011There's no blue saying that outright as far as I know, but since Bashiok said you cannot trade between regions, this must obviously be the case.Posted in: News
Dec 23, 2011Posted in: News
The problem lies in the WD(EU) --> Wizard (EU but playable on USEast) part. Those two characters cannot trade with each other and do not share stash. Since we haven't really gotten any details on how home regions are locked either I suppose it migth furthermore be hard for you to register that second copy in the US.Quote from pikke
RMAH(EU)--> WD(EU) --> Wizard (EU but playable on USEast) --> USEast GAH --> DH (USEast) --> RMAH (USEast)
What Vagelis and Diablofan said is what'll happen: you simply won't be able to accessa a RMAH with characters created out of your home region.Quote from maka
The real question then becomes: what RMAH do I use with my USEast characters? The US RMAH? But Bashiok said "You can only use the currency-based auction house of your home region" - my home region is EU. So I'd be using the EU RMAH with my USEast characters? What's to stop me from giving/selling these items in the US realm? ...I don't get it.
Dec 11, 2011Amazing intro, amazing style and amazing music. The handdrawn stye really worked.Posted in: News
The only thing I felt was lacking was a finishing punch, similar to the part in D2 where the music rises and Marius says:
"Why did I follow him? I don't know. Why do things happen as they do in dreams? All I know is that, when he beckoned, I had to follow him. From that moment, we traveled together east. Always, into the east."
And then the logo flies in. It doesn't end in immediate crisis like the D3 one, but it doesn't have to. It still conveys the story so well.

It takes a while to do one book. I think I got down to around 20-25 minutes per chapter for The Veiled Prophet, but that's still just under 10 hours. Given that the lore provided in them is of much less importance, I opted not to do it. But if I find myself dreadfully bored one of these days then perhapsQuote from Thunderclaww
The reference post is awesome. Any chance you can do these type of posts for the rest of the Diablo books, after the Sin War Trilogy? I'm a bit hazy on those.

Well it was mostly the "I defy you" part, and the fact that he even speaks to Leah in the first place. The theory is dissected rather well in the lore forum, so do check it out if you're intested in it.Quote from fluffylittlebunny
I don't see how substituting Leah for Diablo makes any sense in the Soulstone cinematic....but that's just me. Maybe I am missing something?

By inference it's a reasonable conclusion. The idea that the skeletons are Lesser Evils makes no sense whatsoever though. There are not seven or six lesser evils to sit on those thrones, and the lesser evils we do know of do not look like that and have no reason to look like that. Everything indicates that Leonard (I think it was him?) misspoke during the panel.Quote from Calavera666
They've never said such a thing.
In fact, they say that those are the Lesser Evils, sitting up their thrones.
Oct 22, 2011Posted in: News
It comes from the panel. From the mouthes of Blizzard themselves. Meanwhile, the death refenrence has been made up by fans because it seems to fit the very passage you mention in the Sin War. That does not make it correct however when confronted with with conflicting canonical information.Quote from maela
Where is the info coming from that he is the angel of wisdom? The sin war trilogy doesn't describe him but rather mentions that...
Does this mean that all is well? Probably not, Malthael does seem very weird for being an angel of wisdom. And as you can also see in Scyber's post, this is acknowledged.
Oct 22, 2011Posted in: News
He is the angel of Wisdom. All sources that mention him a the Archangel of Death are both outdated and based on speculation to begin. The wiki shall be updated.Quote from maela
In some places he is described as the angel of wisdom, in others the angel of death.
Which is it? Even the wiki seems to alternate between the two.
Oct 10, 2011You caught on quick, nice workPosted in: News
You can still categorize images without creating their category page and it will work. So you can add pages to [[Category:Diablo III Amulet Images]] just fine.Quote from Sinate
EDIT: Can someone under the Jewelry image subsection, create 2 new image subsections for me please, Amulet and the other Ring. Also an image subsection for Demon Hunter Cloaks under Armor would be great too
Oct 10, 2011Oh right... there's a four day delay before pages can be created on a new account. It's there to stop bot-spamming and it really has helped, but perhaps it could be shortened.Posted in: News
I went ahead and simplycreated the crossbow page so it can be edited for now, but other stuff that can be done is to add categories to uncategorized pages and images.
Another thing is to place all images in Category:Diablo III Images in their appropriate sub-categories. For instance, Dread Shield.png should be moved from "Category:Diablo III Images" to "Category:Diablo III Shield Images". The latter category doesn't yet exist, but using the structure in Category:Diablo II Images should give anyone a good idea of what it should eventually look like.
Oct 10, 2011Posted in: News
If you want to do some copy&pasting, I'd suggest doing some item pages. For instance, copy Bow List to Crossbow List and replace all the bow text and named with crossbow text and names. Similarly, copy Template:Bows and place it at Template:Crossbows, once again replacing all data. You can get the names easily from battle.net.Quote from enkeria
im about to move, and thus have some time over when Im looking for job.
Copy/phase, sure! Head me to right direction, Ill start this week!
You may want to take a look at the bottom of the Gems page, which is where categories always appear in wikis using the Mediawiki software
Absolutely. There still a lot to do and plenty of opportunity for anyone who wants to contribute, whehter it's in a big way or just a small edit here and there.Quote from CherubDown
The wiki should be designed such that users can find whatever is most meaningful to them in the fastest way possible, and the only way to do that is step forward and help out! It's a daunting task, but it's also very rewarding when you complete a big ol' section.
