Most betas have disclosure agreements. Not sure if they are allowed to say one way or another.
Um...they have an official beta forum that can be read by all public and only posted on by beta users...I doubt talking about their in game systems would be a bad thing. I am also shocked that I cannot find 1 interview out of the million SC2 has about Backstabbing as I feel it was a pretty large part of non ladder games along with 7v1 Comp stomps.
I don't know, but if they give me the option to disable such a thing I would, otherwise I could care less if people like you use an option like that to be a traitor and attack the people who have been helping you.
All the more reason to /block or /ignore you.
They could do that and make it an option. They could also bring a fame / defame system in telling players how many times someone has turned on their allies. The system both benefits the community and harms it but it brings in that realism that without it I am not sure it will feel the same.
No offense vladdracul but if you feel its just fun to torment people who want to have fun and complete the story line then that makes you a douchebag and an asshole. I mean really Taking out auto-swap was because it was useless what did i need it for unless i was mfing the shit outta diablo there was no reason to use it. They are going to work on pvp in Diablo and i feel they should have seperate areas not where you can just walk out of the gate and have some douchebag waiting there using hurricane to kill you everytime and then to loot my hard earned gold which will be important in D3. It is called being an asshole and they took it out of diablo for a reason they don't want assholes liek you ruining my fun of playing the game.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
I used the Weapon Swap to be used when the weapon either broke or was near being broke. I did not like using TP to get back to town. I preferred to continue to kill monsters. Sometimes the secondary was used for different elemental source or setup to deal with Immunes. I did not like to park them when encountered.
I do not mind that Weapon Swap is being removed.

First off buddy you got an issue you are free to PM me.
Secondly what does weapon swap have to do with completing the story? If you are to ignorant and slow to comprehend how to hit W and use it for good then I have a question for you...how did you install the game let alone turn your computer on?
Blizzard has already carebeared Diablo series for people who are bad at PvP and for people who want to all be friends and no violence and I have faith that they will continue this trend with Diablo 3 and try and save you all from us big meanies. Never the less tho, just know when you are in that game with me wether I can hostile you and hunt you down or not...there will ALWAYS be a way to grieve you...so my advice is if you want to be saved from being grieved..stay in line and don't get out of place.
Now..if you would be so kind to get the hell out of my thread unless you have some information on Backstabbing in Starcraft 2 thanks.
And again people since noone seems to comprehend how to read, I have no issues with weapon swap being taken out...it really doesn't bother me. The fact their reason for removing it is so damn dumb and the fact they put in way more complicated untested systems into Diablo and expect the same rejects who couldn't understand how to hit W to understand them is just maddening. When the current Diablo devs say something intelligent about the Diablo series then maybe I will take what they say as the best option, they have done nothing but lead me to believe they suck ass at Diablo 1 and 2 and are building this game for people of their stature.
I don't think they'll take Backstabbing away. Actually i know they wont.
That's good but I must be slow or something, I cannot find 1 thing regarding Backstabbing in Starcraft 2 and it is in beta currently. You would think this would of been brought up atleast once.
Maybe the beta people so far dont like to backstab so they wouldent figure it out lol. Perhaps in the next wave there will be more of it.

They don't necessarily have to like backstabbing to notice it haha. In a more friendly term I would be asking if you are allowed to switch alliances mid game. I am sure someone has left a game in session making it 1v2 or 1v3 or 2v3, ect so the issue has to of come up by now.

Man... you are quite the whiner. Everytime i see your name in these forums you are complaining about some "LEET FEATURE" that blizzard removed from Diablo 3.
-= Autostats =-
1.) Stat points was never really that much freaking custom. As MANY people have said, it was always mimimum stats for gear, then all VIT. I will admit that some people would make custom builds, but stats such as energy were absolutely useless.
2.) If you love PK as much as you do, you should realize this actually helps to balance it. Stats have alot more effect that they did in D2, with much more passive bonuses coming from them, as well as Passive skills based on stats.
-= No weapon Swap =-
1.) FFS man, weapon swap actually forced blizzard to make the monsters significantly harder because EVERYONE would carry a set just for buffing. These buffs were never intended to be used in conjunction with your GOOD weapons. It overpowered certain builds.
-= Diablo Graphics =-
1.) Which are you... an emo or a goth? Why does Diablo's graphics have to like a POE novel? If you are such an expert on graphics than why haven't you realized that D2 was based on 2D sprites.... all they are, are layers of images. There is no 3D engine, or physics system in D2.... Realistically the graphics in D2 are quite horrid......
-= PK =-
1.) PK again was never a huge goal of blizzard in creating D2... they allowed you the ability to PK as a feature, but never intended for it to become big. Had they Intended for it to be big, they would have integrated much better controls and systems for PK.
2.) Your complaint that everyone plays for PvP instead of PvE is retarded. I for one think PvP in both D2 and WoW are for morons. In diablo 2 its too chaotic (could be a good system had they intended on making one), and WoW is just spamming skills and hoping your healer heals you.

Ever make a BvB? Ever make an ES sorc? Apparently not since you believe only character build is all vita and min str and dex. What have they replaced stats with? Obviously you are butt hurt because someone who plays PvP 1v7'd your whole flist and smashed you guys instantly. Believe me a good PvP > a good PvE anyday.
You can go ahead and PvE all you want, I could care less just know that the PvE setup which had the "most" developed time has been outdated and the PvP section which still thrives to this day is still evolving. That's why they allow you to make private games boy so you can run and hide from big meanies like me.

I would be ok with that IF I am still allowed to force attack anything. If my teammate is a total douchebag I want the option to kill him.
And wootstick that was a custom game created and I am sure with the better map design going on now that they will return.
They could have a type of vote kick to get rid of a teamate. Or they could just simplify it and have you kill him. Although it depends on the person I mean if he is just an ass well he deserves it but if hes a newb then thats overdoing it. So maybe they can allow backstabbing on certin ranks in the league system. Like the advanced players will allow backstabbing but the lower skilled ones cannot.

Heres what I want:
Backstabbing or ally switching mid game as an option for non ranked games
On ranked games you can enable it or it is auto turned off.
They need some way to balance it so people arn't just being dicks and fucking their team over by leaving and messing with ranks.
Either way it needs to be there and if I have to play a custom game instead of ranked to get the option then so be it.
I'm not sure I understand, vladdracul: you want to intentionally ruin the PvE experiences of others without their consent?
Healthy competition is fun and all, but to just jump into someone's game, flag them for hostility, and find and kill them seems way out of place with the whole idea.
Diablo should always have PvP, but not Diablo 1 styled. If people are constantly having to avoid PKers, it ruins the entire cooperative theme that makes the games so strong.

No, altho I love Diablo 1's PvP I understand those days will never be again.
What I do want is a way to kill shit talkers who like to not back anything up and hide in town per say. Even in D2 it is almost impossible to actually hunt someone down and kill them unless they are totally retarded or try and fight back.
If I am not allowed to kill anyone anywhere I please and ruin their co-op experience then why are they allowed to act extremely gay and talk massive amounts of shit and be allowed to hide when challenged?
I personally have no issues with co-op and I don't join games and look for people to kill, but if you are gonna talk smack, I am coming for you and anyone else that happens to side with you, if in turn my turning hostile promotes others to talk smack about that then they too deserve to die for letting a kid talk shit and get away with it.
Now I also understand that I will not be able to go hostile in games in Diablo 3 and more then likely will be restricted to an arena, it just fits with their view. Just another shot in my coffin as the odds of getting one of the shit talkers in that arena are 1/1000000. There will always be shit talkers just as there will always be a way to grieve, if I can't kill you cause you are hiding in a game then I can simply just kill every monster in the game. Regardless the bottom line is don't talk shit you can't back up.
I suggest finding other ways to deal with hostile players. I imagine a mute button will be available. Failing that, ignoring them or finding another game are good alternatives.
I suggest finding other ways to deal with hostile players. I imagine a mute button will be available. Failing that, ignoring them or finding another game are good alternatives.
Why should I have to find another game? Why should I have to bow down to them? Sure as hell didn't have to in Diablo 1 or 2..why start now?
As of the first week of Beta in SC2, there is no way to switch teams via a built in diplomacy option. Your units can execute an "Attack Ground/Here/Building" command which does not prevent you from destroying your own or your allies units. So theoretically, you could join a 2v2 or 3v3 and then turn on your allies. Although it would only serve to weaken your team and you would most likely eventually lose the game.
There is FFA (Free for All) where 4 players fight each other until one eventually triumphs. So again, theoretically you could make secret alliances in a FFA to squash out the other 2 or 3 players. But in the end, only one person can win so you either eliminate your "allies" or you lose.
Im not sure why you would want to be able to legitimately "switch" teams in the middle of a 2v2 or 3v3. This should especially not be allowed in Ranked ladder matches. As im sure there are very few ppl out there who would enjoy losing by being turned on by their Allies.
If all you are interested in is grieving others like an insecure, immature brat....then you can effectively accomplish that by scouting in a FFA (which is not ranked), and when you see another player attacking one person, you could gang up on the defender and eliminate them.
As for D3, in my opinion you should chill out and at least wait for the beta of the game to be released (if there is one), or mostly completed game/mechanics information to be released before you sacrifice years off your life by damaging your heart with such intense hatred for the D3 design team.
I follow Blizz development very carefully, and have read all I can and learned all I can about their upcoming games. And i still no very little or nothing about many of the D3 mechanics. There are two major discrepancies in your attempt to compare SC2 design team to D3 design team.
1) SC2 is in beta now about to be released, we know almost everything there is to know about the majority of the game at this point. The same is not true for D3 so you cannot point to SC2 as an example of good design and D3 as an example of failure
2) SC2 is predominantly focused on Online Multiplayer. Yes there is a Single player Campaign. But the meat of the Starcraft series is in Competitive Online Multiplayer. Diablo 3 is predominantly a Co-op/Single player game. PvP was included as a minor feature. But as others have said it was never the focus of the previous diablo's. Considering that "Grieving" is the opposite of "Co-Operation" and that Blizzard has strongly stated they intend D3 to be heavily focused on "Co-op". It is also not accurate to point to SC2 as an example of "grieving/competitive/pvp" success while trashing D3.
There is another issue that is somewhat related to this discussion. In competitive Starcraft, good players often operate at an average of 200-300+ Actions per minute (APM). If you dont fully appreciate just how fast this is, suffice it to say That your untrained mind would not be able to even comprehend what is happening from their perspective.
Diablo 3 on the other hand, well, there just isnt any comparison. So when you complain about blizzard removing weapon swap and taking away a tool that "skilled players" use to seperate themselves from baddies, you should know that it really just doesn't matter in terms of gameplay potential. The threshold for D3 skilled play will be far far lower than anything capable by top tier Starcrafters in terms of hotkey pressing, clicking, or APM. This isn't to say that Starcraft is better than D3 or any E-peen kind of thing, but just to illustrate that D3 does not set the bar for keyboard operation ability. Good players will still be good players and likewise bad players will still be bad players with or without a weapon switching hotkey. I am satisfied that the D3 design team has good enough reasons to get rid of such a (in reality immaterial) mechanic.
Although I doubt you will take any of the advice in this thread. Because from your own admissions the only reason you play games is to grieve and make others angry, so it logically follows that you would freak out, overreact, exaggerate, and troll the game based on the like 10 mins of demo footage we have so far.
Aktzini
Edit: Judging from your attitude in this thread. I wouldn't hold out much hope that Blizzard will spend much effort designing Diablo 3 to fit your view. Things can be competitive, difficult, and even "hardcore" WITHOUT inciting rabid hatred of your fellow players and a burning desire to destroy everyone else's fun. Just say'in

Thanks alot, finally someone who can answer the question.

Because let's say you are in that 3v3 and they have a spy on your team or someone leaves mid game and now it is 3v2 or 4v2, if you cannot ally your enemies then you are auto fucked cause someone left mid game or turned on you. I don't think switch should be allowed in a ranked game but they need some mechanism to rank it fairly then cause if your partner leaves you cause he is a dick then why should you be punished?
If all you are interested in is grieving others like an insecure, immature brat....then you can effectively accomplish that by scouting in a FFA (which is not ranked), and when you see another player attacking one person, you could gang up on the defender and eliminate them.
Very very insecure.

A) Shouldn't have to wait for a beta to determine how the design is going.
When the devs can actually put out a good reason and answer for switching something that works with a system that has been untested then I will give them some credit.
I follow Blizz development very carefully, and have read all I can and learned all I can about their upcoming games. And i still no very little or nothing about many of the D3 mechanics. There are two major discrepancies in your attempt to compare SC2 design team to D3 design team.

Sure I can and quite easily. When SC2 was in the phases that D3 is in now were they replacing systems in SC1 and giving no good reasons why other then the fact they feel their fans are rejects or that they themselves are retarded? Were they adding unicorns onto marines or turning Hydras into pink dinosaurs?
Also since Diablo is such a single player game you know why was it first to use Bnet? Why do they revolve and design so heavily onto this trading thing I hear about. What do most players who get Diablo do? Do they play single player or do they go online? Also co-op in Diablo is meaningless and dumb, look at the design here...your character is practically a god and you kill multiple enemies at once in seconds...now let's put 2-3 more of you in there...
Beloved trading and co-op in Diablo has had about as much design as PvP has yet PvP has strived and evolved constantly and still grows to this day, PvM died off and stopped evolving years ago.
Diablo 3 on the other hand, well, there just isnt any comparison. So when you complain about blizzard removing weapon swap and taking away a tool that "skilled players" use to seperate themselves from baddies, you should know that it really just doesn't matter in terms of gameplay potential. Depends on what you are doing in Diablo, killing monsters takes little to no skill or effort, Top tier PvP takes more skill then anything WoW could ever come up with and is only rivaled by Starcraft.
Although I doubt you will take any of the advice in this thread. Considering I have played the game already no.
Now I don't play to grieve or make people angry, I play to have fun and it just happens to be that alot of dumb people play online games...damn who would of thought. When a dumb person talks smack, they deserve to be put in place and thus thats where I do my thing which I guess you would call grieve them or whatever but the bottom line is, don't be a bitch and you don't get hurt.
But I also have to say again thanks for actually replying to the Backstabbing issue.

Why should I have to find another game? Why should I have to bow down to them? Sure as hell didn't have to in Diablo 1 or 2..why start now?

Just say'in
Because let's say you are in that 3v3 and they have a spy on your team or someone leaves mid game and now it is 3v2 or 4v2, if you cannot ally your enemies then you are auto fucked cause someone left mid game or turned on you. I don't think switch should be allowed in a ranked game but they need some mechanism to rank it fairly then cause if your partner leaves you cause he is a dick then why should you be punished?
Very very insecure.
A) Shouldn't have to wait for a beta to determine how the design is going.
When the devs can actually put out a good reason and answer for switching something that works with a system that has been untested then I will give them some credit.
Depends on what you are doing in Diablo, killing monsters takes little to no skill or effort, Top tier PvP takes more skill then anything WoW could ever come up with and is only rivaled by Starcraft.
