And what is the point of your answer.
OP: For a long time the only game I played was Diablo 2. Metropolis_Man knows me since we hosted a lot of Single Player Tournaments for a D2 mod called Eastern Sun. Those were good times and it would be nice if we could have some of those tournaments in D3.
I have been playing quite a bit of other games like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3/New Vegas/Fallout 4, Sub Nautica, Stonehearth, Timber and Stone, Elite, Torchlight 1 and 2, Rebel Galaxy.
The important part is having fun playing a game that you are enjoying. If at anytime you are feeling burnt out take a break and do something else. It can be taking up a different hobby.

Jun 3, 2016Hans posted a message on Please devs end your solo play hatreds been pushed toPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
That is why I love solo, wish it could even be slower since it is way to fast to level. I wish for the old days when it took a few hundred hours of game time to max a character level now it almost pointless to even have the max character level since it takes almost no time to get there.
Part of the reason the End Game is boring is it is too easy and too fast to get there.
Story mode is pointless now since for the most part it is quick bounties to get some mats, gear, and nightmare keys. Then the rest is Rifts and Grifts.
Things are handed out too fast.

There was still a lot of issues with that mod since the game is not designed for anything higher than 640/480. Yes even 800/600 is bugged since the AI for the monsters are designed for the classic Diablo II. The Zombies in the first area are the easiest monsters to see the difference.
It won't change because it's a lot of work to increase the resolution. Modders who did this also had to completely rework the interface because it breaks when increasing the resolution. Blizzard isn't putting that much work into D2 anymore. They only make sure it works on modern computers (and hopefully do something against spambots)
One of the hardest things to program is the AI and I doubt that Blizzard will be looking to improve on it since it is not worth the investment in it since the game is over 15 years. It is one thing to patch it to make it easier to have it running on newer OS. I have no problem with running patch 1.09 or 1.10 on Windows 10 since I prefer to play Diablo II with mods like Zy-El or Eastern Sun
Feb 2, 2016Posted in: Diablo II
The last version of the mod does not run well on the Mac. It is best to use boot camp and use the Windows version.
Also the game is designed for 1.10 and it needs the cd to be checked to function. There was a method to get it working with 1.12 but it was glitchy

I have never played a public game and only have played with people I knew.
I did report account spammers looking for friendships when the auction houses were active to sell gold. At one point I think I was doing that about 10 times a day.
Also I do not play this game that much since for the most part my 10+ years of playing Diablo 2 has left me for the most part Diablod out.

... And there are no hacks, bots, thud, exploits, etc on the PC version.
Granted that gem of ease modded (exploited) gem did hurt other players by giving them a lot of paragon levels.
I have never played it online on my Xbox and have no desire to do so since to me the game is a lot more fun to play alone and in offline mode. I just hope Blizzard adds a feature that allows new characters not to share anything with the other characters (paragons, shared stash, artisans, gold, etc. Then I would be real happy.
Jan 5, 2016Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
There are no seasons on Consoles and likely ever. I would like to see an option to make a character that is like a season character that is not linked to a shared stash and no paragons.
Even if you don't have seasons, your patch notes are essentially the same, right? 2.4 makes pretty much everything viable, so more than ever you can explore pushing whatever style of build you like, or playing a class that used to suck or you didn't bother with, etc. I've only played DH Crusader WD on the PTR, but they're all way more fun and have a much larger variety of ways to play them that actually work than ever before. Season or not won't change that aspect.
Obviously I can't speak for others, but for me, a new season is more about coming back for a fresh start on the new patch with its changes than it is about the season. If Season 5 was starting on 2.3 again I wouldn't really care about it much. So you still get that aspect on console.
I have both a PC and Xbox 1 and to me Diablo type games are for the most part more fun playing alone, unless you have a few good friends. I do not build fast clear builds and I like to take my time and kill and loot everything in the map. I even wish they bring back the walk feature since I find default speed to be to fast.
My favorite build is the melee WD yes a melee Witch Doctor and I think I will do one on Season 5 on PC.
OP I would suggest to level up some legendary gems since one of the best features to be coming is a new recipe in Kanai Cube to add either a main stat or Vitality to an Ancient item the amount will based on the level of the Legendary gem used. Other than that I would wait until patch 2.4 becomes live. You do have more options for builds especially now with the 2 piece LoN (Legacy of Nightmares) Set which is completely changed from 2.3 and now has a bonus for not using any other set bonus on gear. You get better damage and damage reduction based on the number of ancient items you are equipping. Also a lot of legendaries got revamped so it is easier to build a build to your liking.
Now back to my melee WD.
Jan 4, 2015Play both characters and maybe even all 6 classes.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Also play some oddball builds that might only be able to do Hard difficulty but those builds were the most fun especially with only using magic or white gear. Not fun in Multiplayer though. The thing is you can play with any skill, Downside is farming for gold and items but playing the oddball characters were fun.
I prefer more playing DIII on the 360 offline since I hate game latency and lag.
Nov 22, 2014Graphics does not make a game good. The gameplay does. I still think Diablo 3 looks much better than that. Diablo II looks better than both in my eyes even today.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I am not stating graphics but looks and style.
Nov 17, 2014How many copies did D3 sell. Any company would be happy with a quarter of the sales the game got heck they would be happy with 1/10th the sales Diablo 3 has.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Also the other games from Blizzard makes money, make that buckets and buckets of money.
Diablo 3 is one of the largest selling PC games of all times. Let me restate that it is one of the largest selling PC games of all time.
You guys make it sound like it was one of the worst selling games of all time and the devs have to go begging on the street for change so they can eat.
Sorry I sound upset. but this is just getting to me.
Nov 11, 2014Hans posted a message on Ancient items and retroactive changes to current legendariesI am hit or miss on this new item tier. I am all for options but my gut feeling is that they will find a way to screw it up and it will still be the same couple of items or a new couple of items that will become the new skorn/furnace or whatever.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
What I like to see are real options on making gear better. Especially on Rare and Magic items but it should cost a lot of crafting mats to do and a lot of farming for mats that can only be dropped or by completing a difficult task maybe a real tough bounties maybe even having bounties in Rifts and Greater Rifts.
To me everything has just become Legendaries and Sets with maybe a couple of nice rares, but most of those rares are just stop gaps.

Not a joke.
Diablo 3 is my least favorite diablo game. The issue was not with Jay it was more with Blizzard. At the moment the game feels less like a diablo game with each patch. Some parts have improved but a lot more has become like an MMO Light.
Jay had one of the toughest jobs as a developer and he was damned if he did and damned if he did not and I think he handle it well. He has my respect as a person. It would have likely worked out much better if the game was not known to the public for about 4 years before the release. That just fueled up the nuclear firestorm that followed. The one that replaced him did not do as good as a job.

What facebook is still around I thought it died a few years ago.
Sorry to hear about Jay Wilson. I miss his version of Diablo 3 especially Infernal Difficulty. At least I still have it on my vanilla xbox 360 which I do not update it.

Diablo 1 the vendors did have some useful things since some blues could roll high stats that uniques or rares could never roll.

I have tonnes of issues with the D3 Launcher especially when it has done an update, Quite often I have to uninstall the game and reinstall it (Good thing I have the disk since I do have a limited bandwidth for downloads).
Jun 11, 2013Hans posted a message on All Items Will Have a Use, Latency Issues with Whirlwind, Blue Posts, Blizzcon Art and Movie ContestsI really do not see them fixing itemization until the expansion comes out since likely the whole system needs to be worked and re-worked again.Posted in: News
In regards to having the follower pick up things is not needed. What would be better is they bring back the option to either sell gear or to salvage the gear outside of town(that option was in the ealry stages of the Beta). Since now with so many things dropping your inventory gets full in no time with blues and rares.
Crafting is for the most part a joke unless you have the best high end plans and get really lucky on the rolls. But the cost involved with getting a good or better item from crafting will likely cost much more than just going to the AH and scrounge for deals. I prefer to find the gear myself since I find the Auction House really boring, If I found that exciting then I would be doing that in real life and get more money doing that.
First of all Crafting would need more plans and I am thinking that there should be rare one use recipes with some rare affixes on them. I started a few low level characters since these types of games I prefer to create new characters after betting normal since I usually get bored with characters. The crafting recipes are really useless for low level or starting characters for the most part. There are a few nice low level 3 affix magic items and they help out alot if you get lucky but still cost quite a bit of matterials to make but you are not concerned about rolling a kickass item at that point.
Affixes need to be worked on and re-worked again until it really offers more than just a few that are must haves. Right now since all damage based skills are based on DPS, That means all gear are looking to improve that factor with hopefully some defensive affixes to round out the character but some of the devensive affixes also has a defensive effect depending on the class. I think it might be time to nerf or get rid of stats(Strength, Vitality, etc) on gear or only have them available on a limited number of slots. I would even go to the point to having more stats based on leveling up or with the paragon levels. Another option would to have special runes drop that can be added to the skill you are using (they would only roll with stats and or bonuses to skills), Blizzard was working on a system like this but decided it was too complex, But my suggestion is not that complex and it would open up more options for gear and also more things to find in the game.
We need to have junky or crappy items every game in this genre have it and it is there since this game genre is based on finding the best gear with the best affixes on them or for affixes for a build you are making. The problem is that there are not that many good affixes out there and the few that are nice get overshadowed by the mega must have affixes.
The last thing is to bring back the Mystic Artisan and have the option to add sockets to gear and to boost gear with some expensive recipes or finding one time recipes to boost an item.
Apr 20, 2012I doubt I get this work.Posted in: News
5 times trying to download the launcher and it says it is for beta but the launcher is for the full game.
I tried directly from battle.net.
I have had issues with the setup part hanging. I have had issues with a file missing, When that is solved the launcher than states it is for the full version.
I think this is what they mean for Open Beta for me is.

That's along the lines I was going to write yesterday. But. A quote from ScyberDragon's original post above: "If you were able to salvage set items for materials to make items of a different set, this could help players control the ability to obtain a full set." So, if you happen to find one piece from Set X and another from Set Y and decide to salvage them for materials to create pieces for Set Z, one named after your character (or anything you wish), would the newly made set pieces carry the same stats the original ones did? If one of the original pieces was from a five-piece and the other from a three-piece set, for example, then how many pieces the new "Hero set" would require? And what about the bonuses granted by wearing the full set? How would they be generated?Quote from Hans
Not is if the set is named after the Hero and is created for the Hero and only that Hero can use the set.
I hope you get what I mean.
You can get scrolls or have the Artisan have options for the number of pieces of the set and what pieces to be used. The more pieces and the type of pieces used will determine the cost. Some of the mods can be picked and again the cost can vary based on the mods picked. Most of the mods would be randomly generated. You may get lucky and get a great set or you might get unlucky and need to try again. The sets should be able to compete with great gear but it should not be guaranteed to be the best.
Mar 27, 2011I think all the options could be used. I do like the idea about set jackpots (Monster drops a complete set) (ES mod for D2 has it and other mods as well)Posted in: News
I am thinking that it would be cool if you can create your own set with Artisans. The Set would have the Characters name. They would be basically following the crafting rule where you might be allowed to choose some mods but most mods would be random. The more complex the set the more expensive and difficult to create. Only that character can wear it. You may have to try multiple times to get what you want.

Hans: for your second point, the answer is easy; look, for example, at Battlefield 2: when you're using a mod, the "Search Game" screen only displays games that are using the same mod as you, so you only play with/against people in the exact same conditions as you. Why can't a system like that be used in D3?
They likely will not do that since that might be considered as supporting mods.
That system sounds nice if it works as intended.
Mar 21, 2011One issue would be the amount of mods. If the game came with an editor that is easy to use than a lot of players would start making mods. The problem is that many of these mods are likely going to be the same modifications to get items faster and more skills and such. The problem is then sifting through all the mods to find a good one.Posted in: News
Also if Blizzard allows mods on Battle-net then it would take quite a bit of resources to manage the games since it would be unfair if a PvP with heavily modified gear plays against a player that is using the normal D3 battle-net gear.
Mar 12, 2011I hope you can choose the location of the map. I do not like it in a corner. I also do not want that much information on the map. I just want to know the layout and that is it. To me the maps from D1 were the best ones.Posted in: News
I will likely not use the map much anyway. I just used it once in a awhile in D2. From what I have seen I do not think you really need a map anyway since the areas look like it is going to be the size of D2.
