A Blizzard rep has finally spoken on the rumor about "Guns" or "Muskets" in Diablo 3. Alot of people went up in arms in anger when the rumor started and now it has been put to rest!

Well, you have to realize that it's been 20 years, and in technological terms that can be a very long time. We're trying to create a world that's not static, its filled out, and with that it's an advancing world. With that amount of time, and also the loss of the Arreat Summit much of the remaining barbarian culture has focused on... nah I'm just kidding, there aren't any guns.
Lol its like OMFG THE BARBS CREATED....Oh THANK THE STARS OH MY GOD I need to see a doctor now my heart is now where my stomich should be

Great find. I think we all agree no guns in Diablo is the best policy, it has and always will feel more like a game centered around the raw energies of magic. Whether some of those energies be channeled from Heavenly or Demonic forces, it should and hopefully will remain as it is. A war of humans between Heaven and Hell.
WoW is kind of lame in the way they have like engineering with parts that would be very hard to create in medieval times. Although, WoW is it's own universe - it can go whereever it may.
Fable was. Fable 2 is much later in the time period it is based on. It is almost Renaissance in appearance. That is not too far from Musket becoming the ultimate weapon of war.
Diablo is still heavily influence by Medieval times. It's dates do not quite perfectly overlap with ours. But they aren't far off. 1265 AK (Anno Khejistani) in the Diablo world is not that far removed from 1265 AD (Anno Domini) in our world, in terms of technologies present in Western society. in 1265, most of Europe (of which Diablo is mostly based on, (BUT IS NOT EUROPE!)) Guns were not present. This is reflected in Diablo.
Guns would be present in Diablo when there is a game set in that world that bears a resemblence to ours at around the time Guns were in huge supply. Somewhere around the mid 16th or 17th Century.
Being that Diablo is in 1265 and DIablo 3 is 1285, that would put Diablo in the 13th Century. Still got a whiles in my view until Guns are present in the DIablo world.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Yours asked if you wanted to see guns in D3 or not.
This one has word from Blizzard that Guns in Diablo is an impossibility.

It's not impossible though, his words didn't imply an expansion, each and every time they've spoken about a yes or no on any possabilities they've separated the Expansion from the Original contextually.
He only said there arnt any, that's too cryptic of a response because you can't predict what they'll say next, the context could completely change. His old gopher humor didn't help either.
If there are going to be no guns in D3 I doubt there will be any in D3 Expansion since expansions usually are a direct continuation. Possibly in D4 though depending how much time has passed.

WoW is steampunk, meaning that it's set in an alternate timeline in the past. It's like retro-futurism where you could even find computers powered by steam and stuff like that. Anything goes.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Now lets hope they keep out T.N.T. and stuff. Exploding potions are similar, but they make the game feel more medieval.
I was forever going over the possibilities of guns in Diablo III now I don't have to worry about it at all.
