"I'm going to make this pencil dissapear...*BAM* Now it's, it's gone..."
I laughed SO hard that I nearly busted a gut
I watched it in IMAX, and damn, it was wonderful! I had no issues following the story, Heath Ledger, rest his soul, was wonderful- too wonderful, actually, for his own good- but it made an awesome villain.
It wasn't just action for the sake of action- it made sense and it had provocative thoughts within it, some more subtle than others. The conflict with the two ferries at the end was a great example of how condescending some people can be (in the case of the normal civilians) and how amazingly strange people can act (as in the case of the jailers.) I can't really describe it well, but something there just stuck with me, and I guess I just need to think about it some more before I can find the right words for it.
I love Alfred's accent, as always. Sounds Scottish or something. The Joker was so wonderful, though- he brought out the part so that you could really understand his position by the end. You could also still see his humanity, as portrayed in his humor (however "evil" it may look.) That's how a good villain is done, period.
I pratically love all of the Joker's dialouge in the movie:
"I know why you people have your ahem, 'group therapy' sessions during the day." -Joker
"Do I really look like a guy with a plan?" -Joker
And two of my favorites:
"I'm going to make this pencil disappear *BAM* it's, it's gone..." -Joker
"This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You, out of self-righteousness can't kill me, and I can't kill you because, you are just too much fun! I think we are destined to do this, forever" -Joker
And Harvey Dent's quotes:
"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" -Harvey Dent
"The world is cruel, and the only morality in a cruel world is chance, unbiased, unprejudiced, fair..." -Harvey Dent
i heared that jack nicolsan ( w.e his last name is ) told heath ledger that the joker character can really get to you. Heath was really good as the joker, and i think he got so into it, that it took control and he started to do retarted shit..hence the overdose on w/e drugs.

Actually no, that wasn't it at all. You must read the tabloids, which as we all know is factual information. I think the more you post, the more I want to strangle myself.

He had completely finished DK, moved on past that character, and was halfway through filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. A character that has multiple personalities. And since Heath is the kind of actor to get completely into a role, I think he got too much into one of the darker personalities of Dr. Parnassus.
i think it all somewhat contibuted to it, the joker, his other roles, but like archie said we might never know, it could have just been a complete accident.
yea, im just finaly seeing batman begins, though the dark knight just plain kicked ass, and begins was preety damn good too, i mean how the hell are they ever going to live up to this!? i feel sorry for who ever is going try and make that sequal.
It's because he was a method actor- he literally for those 6 months of production lived his part in many ways, even in real life. Many of the greatest actors do that- staying in character for that long makes your performance amazing- and his was, albeit his last, unfortunately. With a part as dark and twisted as his, well, let's just say he danced with too many mental devils and was lacking his paladic mental armor.

But nobody will ever know for sure.
Making Controversial points one post at a time!
But I have one thing thing to say. The Dark Knight was an amazing movie.. Heath Ledger did an amazing job as the Joker and the storyline was awesome.

You have to admit that he's good.

Heath ledger is brilliant and im proud of him. He was aussie. He was my brother from another mother.
I hope he gets recognition for it.
