Well, I finally watched the movie (I am always late, I know).
Personally, I felt it was very good. It got away from the usual comics films problems (too much action, too little sense, happy ending, unreal events, weak/boring villains). Iron Man looks like total and utter crap after Dark Knight, lol
I wouldn't call it the best movie ever, though, but it is very good indeed. I felt that both the Joker and Harvey Dent were interesting characters. *SPOLIER* What I would do, though, is make the people on the boats kill each other. At the same time. But I guess that would give the Joker too much leverage and make it hard to correct the situation. *SPOILER*
*SPOILER* Seriously, though, wtf is up with the main female role? She's just horrible... couldn't even pity her much and the whole situation felt a bit unrealistic because she just doesn't know how to act... felt more sorry for Harvey Dent. *SPOILER*
I found the movie neither boring nor flashy. It was reasonably paced, although I felt the DoP of Mr. Brooks did a better job.

Yeah, I watched a special on... was it the Discovery channel? Anyway, it was about the psychology behind Batman and how each villain is a different kind of psychosis. And it mostly talked about Batman Begins... Wonder if it was the same thing. My little brother and I went in to a Batman-fanboy-mode briefly
Funny, we watched that in AP Psychology when the teacher was out. It was pretty interesting.
P.S.: I really enjoyed the Joker character. It's the kind of guy I would want to go to a table and have a talk about life. He really didn't creep me out at all. o.O
Yes, I think that's what also made him frightening, though. He took what is very logical and real, and, in a non-facetious manner, showed how evil people really are. His purpose in life was to show that anyone can be brought to the level of a monster. What counterbalanced this universal statement was the confrontation of the ferries at the end, where *SPOILER* it was shown that even the most hardened criminals aren't completely base, and even the most "perfect" people aren't completely ignorant of this fact, along with other truths *SPOILER*.
I loved Harvey, too. Really loved him. His story showed how when humanity is stripped away, you have nothing but a double-edged sword- chance. But at the same time, it was intuitively obvious to the casual observer that the *SPOILER confrontation at the end when he had the child in his arm and his handgun's trigger ruled by luck, the reason he become so was because of the loss of his love, which showed that although he was making everything "fair" with chance, the whole scenario was really a reflection of his anger against the world, or emotion, or humanity. So even then, he was not free of his humanity *SPOILER*.
I found it funny that a lot of hyped up stuff about the joker wasn't really in the movie. For instance, he never wrote on a wall "Why so serious?" He never put blood on the "I believe in Harvey Dent" logo...
The coolest Joker was the no-face-paint joker, though. Too bad they didn't show him for too long.

He's being serious. As rumor has it, the Riddler (Johnny Depp) will be the primary villain in the next film, with what I'd assume would be Cat Woman (actress TBA) because she would be a perfect fit, especially when taking into consideration the ending of Dark Knight.
I'd like to meet the director who could cast and direct Cat Woman and not make her look totally stupid. Or the Penguin. Seriously, some of Batman's villains are so conceptually silly, it's a wonder that Batman doesn't retire from fighting crime cause he's too embarrassed by these villains.
The Penguin isn't a villain. He's just a wierd looking thief. Nothing more, nothing left. If they do choose to use him, he won't be the main villain and he surely won't be called The Penguin.

Christopher Nolan usually changes villains around so I wouldn't be surprised if he made him completely different.
