I would like to see more of a point to PvP, in regards to character progression. While ideas of rewards for PvP ranking and BG-like areas have their merit, I think it would be much more interesting to continue the tradition of Diablo characters as treasure hunters.
This could involve certain bosses that different teams can rush to kill. They could either choose to fight the other team and beat them before starting in on the boss, or both teams could cooperatively start on the boss (he could be that difficult), but then turn on each other during the fight to ensure the kill.
Another idea would be to have include PvE into battleground areas. There could be considerable strategy in dancing around field bosses while trying to breach the other team's lines. Monsters could be lead into areas where the other team has the advantage. And certain tasks could revive mobs who become friendly to your side, charm mobs, or summon new bosses to fight for you.
The third idea I had would be an item that would give your character considerable advantage, but only in PvP circumstances. Imagine an amulet that would double your find magic item rating, but it would only be active in an open Battlenet game that is marked as such. Anyone else could join your game, and if they manage to track you down and kill you, they can take the amulet from you. Of course, you can always try to take it back...
PvP - I always thought the ear idea for killing players in pvp was great. I believe that they should bring in a more in depth trophy system for pvp. Maybe keeping track of who you have killed up to a certain amount of people of your choice. Like keeping a top 5, 10, 20, or maybe not have a limit. Being a lover of pvp content, I myself would love to have a trophy tab somewhere to see the people I have killed, or memorable people I have killed, or even an amount of times I have killed or have been killed by people. They could really go in depth with this also as to classes, levels, and such that you have killed the most also. An idea to go along with that maybe would be able to gain a pvp bonus for having a trophy from a player up to a certain amount, like 1% more damage for having more kills on that player than they have on you. The possibilites of that would be vast also.
Trading - Trading was always a pain to me in D2, through all parts. The trade channel was a nice implent, before it died. I think an auction house type trade system would take some fun out of the game. I think that a bazaar type system would go better. A way that you could broadcast to players in your games what you have for sale, and maybe being able to add notes as to what you would like to trade them for, or a list of items you are wanting to buy.
*note* Sorry if any of these ideas have been taken already, replied first, reading posts after I hit Submit hehe
how about if they add a way to report someone for hacking or something like that. like if someones harrasing you just report them and they can possibly get banned or something.
for pvp: also in pvp i hated that most characters sucked to duel. like fire sorcs could get their damage absorbed easily. also if maybe u had to have some skill to actually kill someone instead of teleporting over someone elses characters and instantly killing them. by needing skill instead of needing great items people with really bad gear can actually have a chance.
suggestions for resistances: maybe characters should have a magic resistance attribute thing so they can try to defend themselves against pure magic attacks (like blessed hammer or magic arrow.)
well those are my ideas. hope you guys use them =]
I think that in Diablo 3, PvP should be a sort of bonus objective. Something that you can do, but you are not forced to do. I know that I never like being in any game and getting killed by some loser who has too much time on his hands and has WAY better gear or is an extremely higher level than you. Kind of like a toggle switch, or a certain area catered to PvP.
I also think that there should be an honor type system, similar to WoW but NOT compeletly the same. Instead of gaining honor points, you could gain skulls, or souls, for each player killed. On the other hand if you get killed by the last person who killed you, they can take that item back! Kind of a like a revenge kill
Regarding trading: I thought that the trading system in Diablo one and two was very well implemented. My thought is to keep it this way! Having loot that can in fact be traded to another character after you are done using it is an awesome concept. I for sure hate deleting all of the gear that i worked on getting for a measly side-grade in WoW.
Those are my thoughts, do what you will with them!
Pretty sure nobody is reading this anymore, but i had an original (i hope) idea that isn't jsut the same sentence spewed over and over again by other people.
Everyone seems to be suggesting "no more ganking" "make pvp fair" but they don't seem to understand that the team probably wants to know <how> to do this, not be told the obvious.
Context for my idea is this:
-I believe that pvp SHOULD be in the open world, though not in towns.
-You should not have to "flag" yourself or set your identity to hostile to pvp.
-Ranks (in the form of a title in your name) should be awarded for various pvp feats. E.g. "Woop the Hungerer" "Althius the Noble" "Serdan the Unquenchable" "Geirend the Brave"etc etc.
-Certain positive ranks lead to positive rewards, e.g. cheaper costs for gear (even a % off player to player transactions, with the difference made up by "the people" [e.g. buyer pays less, seller still gets the same gold])
-Lower ranks lead to punishments: excessive costs, only able to bhuy from certain NPC's, etc.
-Negative ranks (received for ganking, excessive pk'ing, etc to be discussed below) lead to very annoyiing aspects in the gameplay. E.g. guards attack in towns, a lowered sense of morale which may lead to increased chance to miss/lower crits.
-Even a possible bounty system being put in place whereby the player who is repeatedly ganked may place a bounty on his killers head. First player to "scalp" the ganker (to be discussed) and return it to the player (via mail or some other method) receives the bounty, and possibly a "bounty hunter rank." E.g. "Althius the Vengful" --> "Althius the Pious" --> "Althius the Protector" --> "Althius blah blah" etc
To prevent/govern the ganking, and to bring all of the above ideas into play i propose this: When a player is killed they are automatically "looted" and an ear/scalp is given to the pk'er. These trophies may be turned in to increase your PVP rank/possibly purchase certain PVP rewards (if these rewards are of an adequate value, and not overpowered). Killing a player who is a higher level than you may lead to you looting both their ears (double the reward), and killing a player quite a bit lower will lead to no looting, or possibly even a loss of all the ears in your possession/a PVP rank.
Leading on from this: When a player revives they become an "earless one" for a short period of time, enabling them to escape being repeatedly killed. If an earless one is killed they may place a bounty on their killers head/the killer will lose a PVP rank.
There could also be an option for players to go into town and have their ears removed (a player who is very against PVP may do this), every 3rd or so time they revive they would have to travel back to town to remove their ears once again, their title could reflect this as in "woop the coward." Either way, if a player who is against pvp has this done...and they are pk'ed...the killer would lose several ranks and have a powerful debuff placed on his character for a period of time, as well as have a bounty placed on his head.
Well...there's my idea. In my mind it would lead to a dangerous Open PVP World, where no place is safe, however at the same time stop constant ganking. I hope you all understood where i was coming from and any comments would be appreciated.
For PVP, I would love to see something innovative besides the normal point-and-click, something that would designate someone who is truly good at PVP and has all the reflexes and concentration to beat their opponents - something that I was thinking about just recently. My idea is that you could have a shape-making tablet similar to the mechanic of Black and White, but would pop up with a single button click, and from there you could quickly draw a spiral, a star, or even Diablo-themed runes, which would be really immersive for the player to the lore. These shapes could then quickly fire off much grander spells, or empowered versions of already learned spells, or do area of effect special attacks. I think that this could be very interesting.
I would like to see some sort of faction/teaming/guilding feature added along with guild battles. Perhaps something along the lines of having special dungeons that have to be fought for to get into that have better than average loot with harder than average mobs that only the winner can enter each day.
I'd also like to see some sort of auction house so that we don't have to sit in Bnet chat all day spamming our wares.
I would love to see arena type games to be made by selecting the mode. Being able to group up and kill other people in the game in an arena type environment would add a lot of return playability after you have maxed your character.
It'll be nice to see the improvement of the Charm system. We all remember the D2 character inventory - various charms, Horadric Cube and nothing else. In D3 i'd like to see a special character panel for charms which size will increase with character leveling. It also can be made to contain only the stated amount of each type of charms: for example only 3 grand charms, 5 large etc.
Id like to start off saying, I'm here to win! OK now that i got the obvious out id like to suggest couple of things witch i think would greatly improve the pvp / looting systems of Diablo.
The most thrilling thing in diablo for me and most people Ive talked to was the thrill of finding a really rare item and being able to ware, trade, sell, or store that item for later use. Now imagine if not only finding certain items but finding certain skills, quests, forms of transportation, stat increase potions, Spacial privileges ( like being able to go somewhere because you found a ticket or something) or finding a certain kind of character mod ( increased/decreased height, new hair styles, cloths, even voices or fraze's) Now i think that would be awesome and just add to the number of moments where people are running and jumping around there computer room because they found a super cool item, pot, ability etc. Id like to say that i would be disappointed if diablo turned into WoW when it comes to currency. I loved and still love the way that the players decide how much something is worth and can change / barter that price. Now i would also like to see an increase in the number of really good rare items/sets for all classes. This could be done by adding a new "Birth mark" system. This system would work by randomly giving a player a birthmark after a sertain amount of time playing in game. The perks of this mark would be the player having a better / only chance of finding a super rare item, skill or even do more dammage in a certain tree of skills. This mark could even be found or droped from a mob, traded, replaced with a better or more rare mark or even upgraded with a new kind of reward.
On the pvp side of things. Well there wasn't really any in diablo 2. Yes there was a little but no really good, hardcore pvp action. What i was thinking is: There be a separate level next to your Normal level ( the level you get from killing mobs ie. Exp) This level would be something of a pvp level and would gain exp from only killing and competing in pvp, against human players. This system would be something like WoW were you can create arena teams, join Battlegrounds, or just kill any enemy player were ever and when ever you feel like it. But I'm not suggesting a Faction or race type teaming system but a randomly picked red vs blue kinda team system when you join into these Battle grounds or arenas. Instead of getting honor i think a player should get spacial abilities, character mods, potions etc. These rewards would be different than the "Found" or "Dropped" items from PvE and would be better used for pvp. the rewards would be decided on the players kill/ death ratio, there amount of kills, there ability to help out there team, there actual "Pvp level", and there amount of time spent in arena's and battle grounds. So people cant buy everything once they hit that " Pvp Level " They would only be able to buy one thing per requirement. So if my crazy weapon takes 500 kills, 300 flag captures, and a pvp level of 87. Than once i get that weapon all the other items increase there price by a set amount (excluding the " PvP level" requirement). This would be a perfect reward system that would actually show your skill in pvp. And in my opinion, make the game more addicting and bring in some of the WoW players who don't like diablo because of its lack of pvp function.
I'm writing this at 2:00 am so I'm kind of in a lack of thought for more improvments.... But hey how can you improve on something so perfect?? Thanks for taking your time to do this for us. We love blizzard and will love Diablo 3.
PvP trading should be all encompassing. In Diablo 2 for instance, there was the problem with torches where you couldn't trade a torch for a torch, and so it lead to a new way for people to try and scam/cheat others. All items should either be tradable or not, without those limitations. In this particular case it could be made that putting something in the trade window makes it not in your inventory anymore, so it won't be like momentarily having two of something.
As for PvP fighting, I think a fighting Arena would be interesting. Perhaps there is an NPC in town you have to go to, click on them and they ask would you like to enter, the Arena, you say yes and they ask, who would you like to dual/battle?" You would then get a list of people in the game or town and they could go to the same NPC and accept it, or ignore it if they like. The arena could be large, but there wouldn't be any of that running back into town out of PK area, and people couldn't blindside other people who don't want to pk. Also, you could have a betting option, so you both put up an item, accept it, lock it in, and whoever wins, gets both items.
Something to add to fighting in general would be combo's. In diablo 2 everyone is the same skills doing the same things because 75% of the skills just aren't very good. If, let's say, you had a skill which had 4 synergies, you could use them in an order to build up that strongest attack. For example, using firebolt, then fireball, a certain amount would energize your meteor. The ability to have choices, and not be cookie cutter, is one of the most fun parts in a game.
One last thing which has nothing to do with fighting or trading is that what I've always wanted to see in Diablo 3 is female and male versions of all heroes. I don't see why a female couldn't be a female barbarian, or a male a worlock (or iron wolf). I believe (though I'm not sure, I can't remember) that this is possible in WoW, and if it could be brought to Diablo 3, I think it would be fantastic.
Hello Heres my suggestion for Diablo 3 player vs player.
Have you ever played Nox?
Instead of having players choose their single player or battle.net charecters for player vs player they would simply create a character for this game mode where you can pick up items, spells, skills and abilities on the battlefield.
Lets make the arenas or level maps interactive with switches to open areas, activate traps or activate power up areas.
There can be team game modes as well, like team death match, capture the flag type game modes.
The maps won't have to be relatively big like the single player game world to better suit the fast game play of this new player vs player system.
PvP - I think if you have an area where its like an arena but spectators can watch from outside the ring. also the spectators cannot enter the ring unless a challenge is made by another person. have some kind of rating + ranking to show how well you place among other players is a fun way to keep people active. I dont know about group pvp but that could be something new. for example like an onslaught and last man standing on either team wins.
I think if Blizzard kept adding or upgrading armor style and items the game would never reach an end. If people consistantly kept trying to find the same ultimate item eventually most people will have and just get bored. If sets of items were added monthly they would have a new goal other then just powerleveling another character. I love the armor styles back in the day but the only way to make it look different was to gem it up and change the color a bit.
Oh, and special events on holidays maybe out of the question but if we did some kind of quest and got an item you can wear to celebrate a holiday would be neat. I think this falls in with the mmo games.
I am a long time Diablo Fan , and I loved the concept of being able to Loot duel people for their items. The thing I did not like was, people would leave the game or try to uncheck the loot duel tab during the duel so they would not lose their items when they was about to die. I would really like blizzard to implement some sort of loot dueling system where the hardcore players such as my self could put everything on the line to duel the best players for items. I understand this would not be a feature for the faint of heart but I like the aspect of hardcore gaming and the rush of knowing the outcome of losing. I also did not like that blizzard later removed this feature from normal mode and only allows looting corpses on hardcore mode.
I also hope that blizzard keeps the HardCore mode, I like this very much, but I would also hope they make better control of the hostility/dueling feature as I don't like when people hostile me and try to kill me every 20 seconds so they can laugh at your character dying when you're fighting 50 monsters. Perhaps designated fighting areas could help this as people would not be able to hostile you when you're killing monsters.
Please tell blizzard to implement loot dueling for me!!!
P.S Tell me what the damn gem in the chat room does!! "The gem is working properly" SHOVE IT!!!
ive been a long time diablo fan, one thing i liked when diablo ii came out was the trading box. Improvements I would like to see with diablo 3 would be a improved method for transfering items between your own characters. Currently with diablo ii pretty much the only way to do it is trust someone and they steal your items or join a random game and hope they dont find your items, plus hope they stay in the game. Perhaps create a extra stash that is shared by all your charcters, but only you can access it, or extra slots in the one stash that my other characters could accesss.
One other thing id also like to change is i dont like how currently some people join games that say we are questing or doing cows or something and they go hostiile to us, like its obviously not a pvp game but they still go hostile, then try to come find us in the middle of a quest or something and try to duel. So one way we could stop that is maybe make some kinda system that when one player goes hostile against another the other person needs to confirm thats what they want too before it allows them to duel.
Simply be creative and post one or more detailed suggestions or your personal wishes for the Diablo 3 Team ... What do you want to see in Diablo 3 concerning Trading features and PvP features. Post them below. -------------------------------------------------- trading features: - ability to quickly trade items on your current logged in character on b.net through whatever channel you're in or through private messages without having to join into a game(real time trades able to go thru pm's, channel to person in game or anything of the combination.) - ability to make a list of items you no longer want for whoever wants them in your friends list. - ability to create a mule character that cannot gain level or leave act 1 but has a much larger inventory and bank. - ability to have an item trading system in b.net where you can browse through item's you're interested in buying and next to the item it will list the person's "trade name"(see below) and a short description of what they might want for the item. - "trade name" seperate from your account name this name is used to send pm's from one trader to another so that the players account name doesn't have to be given away. a person can set and change their trade name once logged into b.net and it would act exactly as friends list with the same commands /add /remove /ignore etc..
PVP Features: - Item duels, players can set-up 1v1 2v2 etc.. duels with items as waigers, whoever wins takes the pot.(can also be looked at as a "trading feature") - class specific duels, the game maker can set the game to only allow a certain class or certain classes into the game aswell as level range. - gamesetting/search, game maker can set wether its a pvp/pve game (if pve then ability to hostile is turned off.) players can quickly search for games with pvp/pve. -------------------------------------------------- thats it, i just want to say thank you blizzard for bringing us diablo 3. i was not one of those people complaining about the color or other shit i've been really excited since WWI in france and been really looking foward to diablo 3 and starcraft 2.. they are two of the original games that have got me interested in gaming. thanks again looking foward to D3 and SC2.
the whole aspect of Diablo 2 was great everything was done to its extent
D3 just needs to focus on the improvements of what made it fun and such a good experience for players
pvping was fun, a little disorganized
and not too fun when you like to duel a person same level as you, only to find out he has way better gear
the drops were just too random one moment you get a great item the next you get a cheap item
i don't know how the online will be setup, but it be interesting for a lobby system were lets say
it got split for, people that want to quest, duel, or trade there would be its own lobby
for the pvp itself organized pvp would be nice but i have no idea how it would look like maybe a updated interface
team dueling would be interesting to see in D3 as well if its possible to do
trading was good
but due to all the hacks the economy went crazy
you find yourself poor even when you think your not
i don't know if it was due to the money drops or just the magic farmers
its like you want to trade a item but you find out that the other person has way better things
it was just impossible to trade
but overall I'm pretty sure the guys at blizzard won't let us down
Big boss raids in Diablo 3 would be amazing. One of the things I love about the high end content of WoW is 10 and 25 man raids. I think it would be a really cool thing to do with the new Diablo game.
Also I agree with alot of others with the suggestions for a pvp ranking system, I liked to old battle ground ranking from WoW, so something along that line would cool to see. Also some organized pvp events would be nice to see as well.

I don't see why a female couldn't be a female barbarian, or a male a worlock (or iron wolf). I believe (though I'm not sure, I can't remember) that this is possible in WoW, and if it could be brought to Diablo 3, I think it would be fantastic.
Thanks for listening,
Trahi
no more SOJ's for those god items
Have you ever played Nox?
Instead of having players choose their single player or battle.net charecters for player vs player they would simply create a character for this game mode where you can pick up items, spells, skills and abilities on the battlefield.
Lets make the arenas or level maps interactive with switches to open areas, activate traps or activate power up areas.
There can be team game modes as well, like team death match, capture the flag type game modes.
The maps won't have to be relatively big like the single player game world to better suit the fast game play of this new player vs player system.
Thank you
-Jeremy
One other thing id also like to change is i dont like how currently some people join games that say we are questing or doing cows or something and they go hostiile to us, like its obviously not a pvp game but they still go hostile, then try to come find us in the middle of a quest or something and try to duel. So one way we could stop that is maybe make some kinda system that when one player goes hostile against another the other person needs to confirm thats what they want too before it allows them to duel.
--------------------------------------------------
trading features:
- ability to quickly trade items on your current logged in character on b.net through whatever channel you're in or through private messages without having to join into a game(real time trades able to go thru pm's, channel to person in game or anything of the combination.)
- ability to make a list of items you no longer want for whoever wants them in your friends list.
PVP Features:
- Item duels, players can set-up 1v1 2v2 etc.. duels with items as waigers, whoever wins takes the pot.(can also be looked at as a "trading feature")
- class specific duels, the game maker can set the game to only allow a certain class or certain classes into the game aswell as level range.
- gamesetting/search, game maker can set wether its a pvp/pve game (if pve then ability to hostile is turned off.) players can quickly search for games with pvp/pve.

thats it, i just want to say thank you blizzard for bringing us diablo 3. i was not one of those people complaining about the color or other shit i've been really excited since WWI in france and been really looking foward to diablo 3 and starcraft 2.. they are two of the original games that have got me interested in gaming.
thanks again looking foward to D3 and SC2.
As far as PvP goes, just make sure it's consensual. Ganking is crap.
D3 just needs to focus on the improvements of what made it fun and such a good experience for players
pvping was fun, a little disorganized
and not too fun when you like to duel a person same level as you, only to find out he has way better gear
the drops were just too random one moment you get a great item the next you get a cheap item
i don't know how the online will be setup, but it be interesting for a lobby system were lets say
it got split for, people that want to quest, duel, or trade there would be its own lobby
for the pvp itself organized pvp would be nice but i have no idea how it would look like maybe a updated interface
team dueling would be interesting to see in D3 as well if its possible to do
trading was good
but due to all the hacks the economy went crazy
you find yourself poor even when you think your not
i don't know if it was due to the money drops or just the magic farmers
its like you want to trade a item but you find out that the other person has way better things
it was just impossible to trade
but overall I'm pretty sure the guys at blizzard won't let us down
Also I agree with alot of others with the suggestions for a pvp ranking system, I liked to old battle ground ranking from WoW, so something along that line would cool to see. Also some organized pvp events would be nice to see as well.
