Thank you, Postandflee, for taking so much time to write down all of it.
I have read many theories and predictions on how Diablo might evolve but this has been the one that makes the most sense so far as it seems like something that Blizzard would do, not necessarily something that the fans would immediately wish for when asked (this is not mutually exclusive but Blizzard has some more long term perspective and economic reasoning behind their design).
The time travel also seems reasonable. It might not be the most original way of to let the story develop but it basically solves two problems at once: the wish of the fans to make a more D2-like game and providing a way to be able to kill Diablo again (the "hey I killed him last game but he somehow found a way to live again and suddenly there is a new mighty boss that wasn't present before" is getting a little old).
The focus on gameplay rather than engine-creation also sounds like Blizzard. They have always made great games but outside of their cinematics never really had great graphics. D2 was already outdated when released, Starcraft 2 was ok, World of Warcraft got a few updates but would be laughed at if it was released for the first time today, Overwatch looks good but nothing like other action games / fps. Using a somewhat older engine also enables people with lower specs to enjoy the game thus opening up a bigger market.
I didn't mention the Druid's resource, forgot to O.O, at this point might as well. There was no mention of the Necro's resource. I'm not sure how to explain, I'll try my best.
The concept of the Druid is that he can be relax to play but is for advanced players at the end-game, because of the way skills are as I showed but also because of the resource. A lot was talked about how to make the class fun / functional for the beginners or casual players for the campaign even though this casual playstyle (no strategy like put any skills on the bar)won't function at all beyond the campaign or the easier difficulties. The "challenge" that can break the druid is in the theory-crafting the build, and choosing among many possibilities for the resource. The gameplay requires careful attention to the resource, much more than the other classes.
The resource is split in three "horizons" (yeah there were images but no like ss it was only a small part of the hud) I don't recall the resource name *facepalm*. The expression used by them I remember exact was nothing is created nothing is destroyed everything is recycled this is the "idea". So the Druid never runs out of resource but as one raises another diminishes. The 3 parts make like a "landscape" when balanced. The top part is yellow is called heat (they associated with solar power). Middle part is gray (it's a fog, clouds) called wind. Bottom part is light blue called water. So heat-wind-water. There were many many ways they worked on as to how it worked and it was complex and uncertain, some ideas contradictions of others, I
didn't fully understand myself actually. Anyway the core is some builds need to maintain some equal balance some need to maintain a dominance of one part, some 2 parts, some need to alter(sounded a bit like CoE?) progressively or in order etc. It was complex, but it was player's choice how complex they want it, what build they want to design.
Now how you customize the resource for the build is through the druid-bard passives. Almost all his passives are resource related. Almost all sounded complicated or build defining or crazy, one passive what it did was it adds a 4th layer, between wind and water, a color green-brownish called earth. But even with the 3 landscape if you put some random passives and some random skills without thinking it is possible the druid is non-functional like he lost his mind lol? So he can't kill with skills or even cast the skills. There was mention to make him at first like HC mode was at first in D3 "you need one lvl10 hero to select this class" so that newbies don't take him as a first playthrough but there was mention that this could be confusing or make players sad or call technical support "Hi I can't druid is server down", it was not clear how they intend to protect the newbies-casuals from "thinking" (this is my words my analysis just for lol I like all casual players and welcome them). One that was implemented however is that the Druid gains passives at later levels than other heroes and that the druid "disabling" (if not thought about) passives are gained at high levels. The passive that adds an Earth layer was unlocked at level 99 last one.
You neglected an option that has pretty high probablity of happening. Nothing of new significance gets announced, and they do some 20 year retrospective of the game.
That doesn't mean they aren't working on something for the future, it might just mean they have nothing ready to show, and they are still playing with concepts. That would be the best time to bring in a new game lead developer.
With all the gear in the store being Diablo III related and not the generic Diablo label it is safe to assume any announcement is Diablo III related. Why push all that DIII gear just to release something else?
I wish auction house would come back, because only a game that earns money gets attention from Blizzard. Yeah the old AH was cancer, but there has to be a better way of implementing it.
Part of me agrees. But, a big part of me disagrees because if you can just spend real money to get mats and gear, then it will create a lot of resentment with players who put in the time to grind. Maybe they could do something similar to Rift and make the very highest tier of gear tied to dungeon instances and raids that would be soul bound.

Real money should not and should NEVER have been a part of the AH. THat was the only mistake, and they were to ignorant to listen to the players.
We want REALLY LOW DROP RATES, but a GOLD CENTERED AH. We DID NOT WANT a P2W system like the RMAH was creating.
*You brought up something interesting to me mentioning "tiers of gear". What if the drops we got in GR's had higher stats than the gear that drops in rifts? Rifts are about collecting mats and keys. What if a GR 40 gave you gear that has 10% higher main stats, GR50 is 10% higher than that, GR60 is 10% higher than that, etc......
This would make GR's more about just a number on the leaderboard, or a way to grind Paragon, and actually about getting STRONGER GEAR. The complication would come with how the game interacts with Ancients, but it would really be cool to see a "tier gear system" in my opinion!

and then you start screwing people who do not like the concept of having nothing else to do then GR, sure the idea sound cool at first, by with it, you completely destroy bounty and rift utility
there is some type of blizzcon pet they sell or hand out every blizzcon and since 2008 it has been in style with the game they want to sell. this year its a wc pet, so some ppl speculate wc4.
by the looks of the blizzcon schedule. I think a lot of people will be dissapointed. Releasing something new and big would require more time than the 45 min they get.
Second day at Blizzcon there is a Diablo 3 Developer Talk and Q&A:
The Diablo III team digs deep into upcoming patches, showcasing new features and epic content making their way into the game in the future. They’ll also answer any burning questions you might have.
Yeaaaaa, while I don't think it'l be our worst fear (a fucking phone game), If we were to bet money, it'd be on a new patch. Maybe it'l have a new, bigger system, like runewords, or charms. But it most likely won't address the issues most of us have brought up, such as paragon, power creep, number crunching, difficulties, infinite greater rifts cutting out all the less than perfect builds, ect.
I hope I'm wrong, but for at LEAST the last two Blizzcons I've been really hoping for an overhaul / fix to those systems, and we haven't gotten squat. Maybe if I assume we're getting a patch announcement, with like new wings, then I'll surprised when it's new wings AND like, idk, charms.

Hard to say there will be nothing when the Blizzcon preview blog mentions in several instances discussion of new content.
