Well I greatly enjoyed the D2 classes but I'm sure the new ones will fill their places well. I suppose I'll somewhat miss the 4 non-returning classes but I can always just run through D2 should I start feeling nostalgic for them. I suppose a necro or paladin coming back in an expansion would be neat, but I wouldn't want them to just be touched up versions, I'd want a considerable amount of their skills to be remade to function differently or completely replaced.
I'm actually quite glad the LoD characters wont return. They were both massive disappointments for me and would want them back unless they were the same in name only.
I will definitely not miss the old classes. I have played them for over 10 years and I want something new. I am already mad that they brought the Barb back.
If it makes you feel any better, they have said we will see a return of some of the previous characters. Although it is unknown it what form. Probably just NPC's but I am hoping at least one went crazy and we get to fight them.

I just hope we see them in one way or another, I think that's really cool how they show the progression of the characters we've come to know [and love] for so many years.
For example, how all oft he classes from D1 have returned, except for the Bard so far.
The amazon was absolutely my favorite character of all time. Mainly because Im a big fan of ranged physical damage. Here's hoping there will be a char like that in Diablo 3 for the 5th class.
I'm just happy the paladin won't be back. Most overpowered piece of crap in pretty much every stage of the game. Zeal builds to charge builds to hammerdin builds it's all complete crap and overpowered.
When I start missing the d2 classes I will go back and play D2. untill then

I personally liked the druid before synergies came into existence..... a summoner druid although lame was actually feasible.
I like how they made the summoner build in torchlight. Gear actually helped to increase the damage of summons, making the summoner actually as strong end game as the rest without overpowering them.
However, my 2 longest running chars were both a Maul Barb, and a Sorc(i've built one of each element).
At first i was thinking of playing the storm wizard, but now i think i'm going for a conjuration wiz, and going for a mirror image/ melee build.
The barbarian can never be dismissed - it is a key class and i wouldn't call it Diablo if the Barbarian didn't exist. Or at least a very similar class.
I always found it hard to choose a favourite among the necromancer, sorcerer and barbarian and even though i enjoyed them more than the mmazon, assassin and druid, i enjoyed all the characters in Diablo and had fun playing with them.
It proves what a good job they did balancing out and diversifying the skills and characteristics of the classes.
It's one of the many things that make Diablo such a good RPG.

Norrec found the plate of Bartuc. Bartuc's plate found a nice host...
My fav in D2 was the barbarian and the assassin. D1 was the warrior, never played as a monk in D1. D3 characters looks awsome, I think I will play them all!
Expansions, sure, I wanna see necromancer and paladdin once more, even if Im not keen on play them in D2.

If we fought one of the previous classes of D2 that went crazy and became a nasty demon, that would be too awesome. I would personally like to annihilate the necromancer and his army of undeads.
I´m sad I cant play my Rogue on D2, so I just carry her as mercenary around all time, it happens.
Who knows you can maybe get aid of a "bonemancer" or "cursemancer" mercenary in D3... He could even call out some golems, but if the mercenary calls 25 summons damn I wont pay his ressurect cos he gotta be too dumb to die !
I'm not that sad at all. I mostly like the D3 classes so far.
And for the guys who dislike the barbarian return. Try to think this way:
The very reason they broght back the barb is because he was not very polished in D2. For those who didn't like him because of that (including me) will have a chance to like him now. The new barbarian is completly different from D2. In D2 he have 2/3 of his skills dedicated to passive/buff effects and part of the other 1/3 are just a variation of a ordinary normal attack. But now everything about him is movement and impact. He can jump and charge across the screen dealing damage at the same time. He have more then one skill to hit multiple enemies at distance. He will no longer be just a meatball killing stuff one by one with ridicolous melee attacks.

"In time the hissing of her sanity
Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days
Why would we really need to live?
Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth

Same. I've tried playing them but... I just can't. Level 10 or so before I delete.

But now he's over it and has decided to play the next most handsome character: the Monk.
He says he will not lower his standards any lower than that and will never consider playing an ugly Witch Doctor or a primitive Barbarian.
I'm not as picky though I'll play anything even a Witch Doctor wearing nothing but a loincloth.
I do miss the Necromancer and hope that the Witch Doctor will be just as fun.

Agreed on that point.

I'm happy Necro is gone. I don't want 25 summons cluttering my screen anymore.
