anyone with life responsibilities will not be hitting paragon level 100 anytime soon. alkaizer is a student and is on break so he can spend his whole days just playing diablo 3.
I was wondering what (if anything he did) with his life when he said he was playing up to 16 hours a day .. lol
Getting to lvl 99 in Diablo was much, much, MUCH harder. For several reasons:
1) you were basically forced to play in full games or you'd get much lower xp. In Diablo 3 you can just solo your way all the way through, no matter how boring it is...
2) dieing makes you lose xp. At lvl 97+ this loss is huge and can be equal to losing like 2 weeks of playing, with one death!!!!!!
3) you don't get experience from most mobs. the higher you go, the less stuff gives you any experience. For example, from 98-99 ONLY baal kills give you any experience. And anyone who played diablo 2 knows how long a baalrun takes even in uber gear, just due to its mechanics.
In Diablo 3 it's just a simple grind, and the biggest challenge involved is not to die of boredom while repeating the exactly same non-random maps for hundreds of hours.
getting to lvl 99 was pointless I always deleted my toons at level 97.
They're doing their best to add value and challenge but remain balanced at the same time. I can't afford to play Diablo for 10 hours a day, so for me Paragon 100 will take years. And that's ok - but make it much harder and I won't make it to Paragon 2, because I'll get bored.
I personally think it takes too long... I'm currently at lvl 21. I don't play too much, maybe about 2hrs of farming act 3 every day. Steamrolling it though...
I don't know about you guys, but it kinda makes me not want to create another toon, because I'll have to get that toon to 100 again. I rather stick to the one that's already at 100, becuase getting there takes a while...

This is absolutely how I feel.
The problem is that they tried to solve two problems at once with paragon levels. It works great as an extension to the leveling system, but as a system for getting people out of their MF gear and into their 'best' (i.e. monster-smashing fun) gear, I just think it's too damn slow.
I think they should make the MF-curve segmented, so that you gain something like 6 MF per level for the first 20 levels, 4 MF per level for the next 30 levels, 2 for the next 30, and the final 20 paragon levels just give stats (and e-peen)... and make paragon level shared across all level 60 characters. They found a way to make a 'bad run' feel less of a waste of time for mains, but the current system makes it feel like more of a waste of time for alts. I'm still loving getting my alts to 60, but as soon as they get there, there's a strong disincentive to play them over my main.
Hard enough if you aren't extremly hardcore. Also if you like playing different classes you're completly boned. Myself i can't stand playing 1 class over and over.
Getting 99 in D2 took EONS! You could be farming Hell Cow Level for a WHOLE day, and only go from level 77-78... And that was as an op Sorc.
Lol, did you even play D2? If it took you a day to go 77-78, you were really bad. Like EON bad. 80-90 could be done in a day, easily.
People have VERY selective memories about D2. These forums have proven that people remember things which simply aren't true. Any serious D2 player knew that 99 was a grind but it was hardly impossible.
I did a little extrapolation and at my current pace (which is significantly ahead of the median) it's going to still take me almost 280 more days to hit pLvl 100.
This is the kind of post I expect to see on the World of Warcraft forums. 1 guild clears all hardmodes, people cry the game is too easy. 1 person gets PL 100, someone cries that it's too easy. I'm still PL 10 or 11, but I'm not playing 14+ hours a day either clearing thousands and thousands of elites. I wish these forums could downvote posts to bury garbage like this.

Next to working 40 hours a week, training 5 times a week and having a social life i still play quite a lot diablo3 for my feeling. I started working on paragon levels since release date, and at the moment i am at lvl12.
Lvling isnt hard, but sure as hell takes a lot of time.
Saying this is easy... You will need quite some discipline and determination to make it to 100 i guess.
1-99 in D2 definately wasnt this intense. Adding the paragon system was a great idea. especially before implementing pvp. it pushes some of us to play alot and farm to gear up for pvp. before paragon my DH was garbage. Now i can farm a3 pretty easily. dont be mad. dont try and rush to lvl 100, go 1 level at a time.
Blizz said the time spent to reach Paragon level 100 should be roughly equivalant to reaching level 99 in Diablo 2. But seeing that people got to Paragon 100 as fast as they did, I think that's wrong.

Blizz needs to either make Paragon exp more, or give us another 100 Paragon levels!
Because it's not fun, unless there is an impossible goal to strive towards for years.
I love posts like this.. 99% of the community still hasn't even reached id say 60+ in terms of paragon levels, a very small percentage has hit 100, or has become close to that point. For the average person who plays maybe 2-3 hours a day it will take them quite some time.

Please don't say "toons".
