Guys, the barb is one of 5 characters. Okay, so 1/5th of the gameplay is god of war. The witch doctor didn't play like Kratos, plenty of others won't either.
Lol just for the hack of it, flame away.
I thought just now of something.

That picture of CoH looks bad too, as I've seen the game on heavy machines and it looks AWESOME. They even used bumpmapping, something Blizzard has never done in any of their games.
Just because they used a higher texture resolution in D3 doesn't mean they made a graphical landmark in the world of gaming. It's still going to have similar requirements to WoW and WC3. More-so WoW which is still 6-7 years behind in graphics development.
And yes, when D2 came out we were in fact seeing good games done in 3d, by some of the posts I get the feeling they thought anything pre-D2 had to be in 2d.
diablo is 6-7 years behind in graphics development? do you seriously mean that they could release a game with graphics and physics like diablo 3 at the same time LoD came out?
Graphics yes, physics no.
But I've already stated previously that the physics is the only thing new they have brought to the table.
Veritech017, you're forgetting that you're comparing Diablo 3 (a game that has to render and implement a separate AI thread for hundreds of monsters and has an extensive loot system) with first person shooters where you fight against only tens of people. Saying it is 6-7 years behind in graphics development is quite an exaggeration. And frankly, bump mapping is overrated and only necessary in first person shooters because you meet up an enemy up close whereas here you have a fixed zoomed out isometric view. I'd rather this game to run at a smooth 30+ frames per second and still be able to bash zombie heads all over the place instead of alloting some of my graphical resources to useless bump mapping.
Holy shit, that looks like an amazing game. Anyone recommend I should try GoW?
If you haven't played God of War, you haven't lived
What are you waiting for?

What about the orbs, the look, the huge monsters and the gruesome combat? Barbarian or no Barbarian it's still pretty GoW to me. But that's no bad thing.

You can only compare D3 to other Top-Down games, and it's the best looking Top-Down game I've seen yet. 6-7 years is a gross exageration and since when are the system requirements of WoW have any ressemblence to those of WC3?!
I'm not sure why we bother arguing with you to tell the truth - evidence would suggest that we're stupid because you seem impervious to common sense. But, stupid person that I am, here's some more common sense:
Warcraft 3 system requirements:
400 MHz Pentium II or equivalent
128 MB of RAM
8 MB 3D video card (TNT, i810, Voodoo 3, Rage 128 equivalent or better) with DirectX® 8.1 support
700 MB HD space
4X CD-ROM drive
World of Warcraft system requirements:
Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz
512 MB or more of RAM
32 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ 2 class card or above
DirectX® 9.0c (included) and latest video drivers
6.0 GB available HD space
4x CD-ROM drive
A 56k or better Internet connection
In other words:
2x CPU clock speed
4x Memory
4x Graphics Memory equivalent card with DirectX 8.2 -> 9.0c
more than 6x Disk Space
Gee, they're exactly the same

Just because it doesn't have the best graphics out there doesn't mean it doesn't have good graphics. It's no Crysis but it still looks awesome, especially for a Top-DownWIP. This is not a game that will sell on eye-candy (leave that to the FPSs) but it looks good anyway, and I'm sure it will be great fun to play.
I play CoH full settings and yes, it does generally look better than that screen, but Diablo 3 is better looking in my opinion. I went back and looked at the D3 trailer AND played a bit of CoH just to be sure.
WoW, some of you are dumb@sses. The whiners aren't complaining about the use of color and light, they're complaining about tone, feel, style, look, design, D3 does NOT have D1 or D2 aesthetics. How come some of you complainers of complainers can't get it in your thick skulls?
The recommended specs for WC3 are much higher than that. And even though WoW has a recommended spec for a 64MB graphics card, you can actually turn on all the options to max with a 32mb graphics card so long as you have 2 gigs of ram.
I know this because I played with both a 32mb card and a 64mb card (two separate machines) and the graphics are not even different.
Except for the memory req's, which I admitted were higher in WoW due to it being and MMO (expect lower memory reqs in D3), there is no difference in the graphic requirements between each game.

"The art of blood-shed must be perfected to an uber-perfect extent, every detail in the blood drops must be done perfectly and masterfully, actually better than perfect, it has to bleed, but not spray, but then it has to spray by detecting how hard you hit the enemy, and then it still has to bleed, perfectly, because after all it's the primary focus of all three Diablo Games."
GTFO
it's obvious you don't like Diablo, God of War, or any good games for that matter and as long as it's a fad to bash this game, you'll stay a troll who is going to stay nit-picking and bashing, so just LEAVE if you hate everything that much.
Do you know that it was a deliberate strategy, for example, in Kill Bill to have torrents and torrents of blood so that it gave the film a comic book style?
I'm sorry, but real artists consider these tiny details very important.

Yeah.....you must have missed my post explaining how my previous blood comment was largely a joke.
The instant I saw the gameplay trailer, I thought "Great, Blizzard copied God of War..."
In all honesty, if I wanna play God of War, I'll go play God of War. I don't want to pick up Diablo 3 and say "Wow! This is awesome! Playing a Barb is just like playing as Kratos!" I should be able to pick up Diablo 3 and say "Now THIS is Diablo!" not " Hmmm...Diablo and a Kratos look-a-like 3 huh?"
I know it isn't easy to re-invent the wheel, which is basically what Blizzard is trying to do with Diablo 3. However, the more I look at Diablo 3, the more I am sickened by the fact that Blizzard is basically ignoring what made Diablo 1 a great game (Diablo 2 was NOT a great game, it was mearly a good game). I'm all for color, flair, and rainbows are a natural occurance in the world and as strange as it sounds, belongs in Diablo. Only deal is Blizzard should make a Barb play like a Barb. Look at Kratos and see what makes a successful muscle-bound behemoth and then use that as a standard and exceed it.
In my opinion, the Barb is just a poor copy of Kratos with whirlwind at this point in the game. Will I enjoy playing as a Barb? Probably. Will I give them style points? Aboslutely not.
Blizzard Irvine completely ripped WoW from EQ and I won't be suprised at all if they rip many other games besides God of War in order to make Diablo 3. Condor (Blizzard North) was innovative and original, Blizzard Irvine is testing my patience with their lack of creativity and originality.

Tell that to heavenly sword (GoW style, huge success)

The asthetics of D1 and D2 are almost completely different, as is the feel. I've talked about this before - they wanted a larger market so they made the game less oppressive and terrifying - Diablo 3 is just a continuation of this trend.

Blizzard was never a totally creative company. They always stole ideas, which is what made their games good. That includes Diablo I was well.
Yep, neither Warcraft, nor Diablo, nor Starcraft have at all original settings: Warcraft takes from Tolkein and Warhammer, Diablo from Semite mythologies and Legend (by the looks of it) and Starcraft from Alien and Warhammer 40K. This is because all of these series started at a time when games didn't need an original setting, production values were not as high as they are now. If Blizzard created a new IP perhaps they'd create their own universe but so long as they stick to the ones they have they'll never be original when it comes to setting.
Of course, setting is worthless in a game if the gameplay is bad, and gameplay is something that Blizzard does exceedingly well.

Lol - let's think about the 7 Characters in Lord of Destruction, are any of them at all original?
Why are we complaining about style points all of a sudden? Blizzard makes fun games, not original universes. Besides, it's not stealing - I think Blizzard have looked at what made God of War cinematic and exciting and added it to a game which, to be honest, could be a dull clickfest at times. It was good for exploring, for collecting loot and it had good NPCs and a story that kept you playing but the combat was really quite uninteresting, and if by "play like a Barb" you mean "sit in front of Diablo and repeatedly hit him with an axe" then count me out!

Yes, and Diablo was a Gauntlet clone themed after Ridley Scott's 1985 movie, LEGEND.
