It's very clear that Tyrael is holding Solarion. I'm sure that, even though he tossed his sword into the Wordlstone he would have other swords that he could pick up. Why would he start using a spear?
I think that the question is now, "which one of the two angels is evil?" assuming that one is, and they are not just battling over a disagreement.
Remember that in one of the cinematic scenes already shown, the meteor crashes through the stained glass window depicting Imperius. My personal thought is that Imperius is defending the gates from Tyrael, while Tyrael wants to open them for some reason. That is what leads to the battle between them.

Playing a Wizard. Looking for Demon Hunters to play with.
imperius banishes tyreal from the heavens for destroying the world stone, tyreal is cast into tristram cathedral and is somehow held captive underground.
We free tyreal from under the cathedral and fight our way to the gates of heaven where imperius tries to stop tyreal from re-entering the heavens where the showdown begins.
Nice comparison! And not to be the devil's advocate, but I really do see a slit in the spear Tyrael is holding. The spears look a little different, but Blizzard changed many things in Diablo to look a little different. Tristam being one. So mabye they are the same, maybe not. By the time DIII comes out, we'll know the answer, and forget all about this thread
It is from the same cinematic. I doubt they changed the look of Solarion in a single cinematic.
don't even look for a slit... look at the object at the base where the handle meets up with the blade. It's some star shaped object, while the base of the blade that tyrael is holding is completely different. They are holding two different weapons.

Yep, I noticed that and I, like you, think that they are holding two different weapons.
But in the end, one can argue that Tyrael's weapon is seen from a different angle in the video and "the sun" (the star shaped object) is on the other side of the spear.
why would blizz make two seperate weapons that look practically identical... the solarian is supposed to be unique they wouldnt make two of them

You're asking why blizzard would do some crazy stuff?!?

Actually if you look closer you can see a couple of points of the star/sun part near Tyrael's shoulder as he lifts it up. And the base of the blade tip where it flares out is exactly the same. Looking back at Brenugae's picture the hilt is the same as well. Honestly I don't see why they would make 2 spears look nearly identical that people would get confused between the weapons.
Example: HUH? I thought Imperius's spear was a legendary weapon theres another one that look just like it! Legendary my ass!

"The righteous shall fall before the wicked, and all of Creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell."
Using the recent DIII TV spot, i just made a quick gif of Tyrael owning Imperius. Even though it doesn't make sense since Solarion is in both parts, it still looks awesome! Let me know what you think
guys.
Well here is what u all are missing.... atleast in my opinion...
Imperius is basicly turning BAD! hence the red wings instead of blue.....
The footage of him standing up from being blue to RED is prolly the start of the fight...
were as the footage were he slides across the floor is in the middel of the fight...
Imperius has always been depicted as Red robed and Orange fiery wings, even in the Sin War trilogy.
However, he always had a racist tone to anything that wasn't an Angel. He hates demons and nephelum(because they were orignally half demon). He wishes to prove his Valor agains't anything that wasn't on the Heaven's side. Which as said in the Book of Cain Valor can so easily turn into Pride.(one of the Seven Sins of Azmodan)

Imperius isnt "turning BAD" for trying to destroy mankind, since the nephalem are the result of demons+angels, he is repulsed by the idea and thinks its an atrocity. He just was never "good"to beggin with.
Its High heavens vs Sanctuary vs Burning Hells, not Sanctuary + Heaven vs Hell.

The same reason Leah's necklace disappears when the fallen star hits the cathedral, and then reappears as she yells "UNNNNCCCLLLEEEEE!!!" Different groups working on one cinematic, stuff gets left out or changed, it happens all the time.
I'm going to put this in spoiler tag just incase..
I personally think Imperius is fighting Diablo in that video, and Diablo kills Imperius which is why Tyrael is wielding Solarion, especialy since it shows Diablo pull a Zealot with a blade coming out of his arm and thrusts it towards someone.
People saying these are spoilers are dumb; everything is speculated and these clips are on television.
You must be new here, and oblivious to the datamined collection of info this site possesses. People without knowledge are dumb. Obviously Imperius is not fighting Tyrael. He's just pushing him against the wall to give him a bro hug and a kiss.
Well... In the book of cain it is stated that valor will turn to wrath, which I believe means Imperius turns evil or maybe partners up with Diablo to destroy what he believes is "the greater of two evils" (the sinful offspring of angel and demon) and is then obviously betrayed by Diablo. Also, with the angel of valor gone, I suppose it could be possible that Tyrael would take his place? And since solarion is forged from light basically, it could take on a slightly different shape in different hands...
