100,000 Diablo III Beta Invites
Blizzard just announced that 100,000 Diablo III Beta Invites have been sent this week, and there's a lot more to come!
Official Blizzard Quote:
We recently invited 100,000 more North American players to the Diablo III beta, so we recommend that those who have opted-in check their Battle.net accounts to see if they were chosen.
Please be aware that with this large wave of invites we expect there could be an increase in the number of phishing attempts. Some unscrupulous individuals send out falsified emails purporting to be from Blizzard, but are in fact meant to steal your login credentials. For more information on how to identify these emails please refer to our Battle.net Security site. One easy way to ensure your invite is legit is to avoid clicking on links in any invite emails you receive, and instead log in to your Battle.net account and see if you have a Diablo III beta license attached. If there’s no license you can be sure the email you received was not from Blizzard.
If you didn’t receive an invite, never fear! We’re going to continue to give away beta invites, so be on the lookout for promotions, contests, and giveaways on our properties as well as at your favorite fansites. We’ll have more information about these global giveaways as well as regional betas in the coming weeks.
Congratulations to those of you who recently got into the beta! Please don’t forget to use the Beta Feedback and Beta Bug Report forums (and the Technical Support forum if you run into trouble running the game), and for those who haven’t gotten in yet, we wish you the best of luck!
Bashiok also pointed out that they will have information on regional beta invitations soon!
I like how they did not mention a single word about EU. Heh. Gratz US! I'd be surprised to find a lot of people that did _not_ get an invite over there.

I thought that it may have been implied here?

Implied yes, mentioned no. I would've been glad even for a cold straight "we don't want to invite EU players right now. Instead we'll invite every single person in the US and then think about it afterwards".
I am in the US and have not received a key yet. No disrespect to you EU, but if you are trying to stress a server and test it's limits, by inviting tons of players that are far away from the server would bring high latency problems, that wouldn't be there during release.
It was dis-heartening to read, "We’ll have more information about these global giveaways as well as regional betas in the coming weeks"
I got it so happy...but sad for those that are not in. I figured it had to be a bunch of invites. How many people were in prior to this huge wave...anybody know?
. Fixed a bug that allowed 100.000 players into the beta, it has now been corrected and the servers will once again show now more then 112 players online.
Bashiok said that D3 is only running on NA servers right now, so that's why EU/etal didn't get invites yet. They are still constructing those, apparently.
They are planning more sweepstakes? Damn, I thought the beta process was going to finish SoonTM.
i think it is, and right now they'Re doing so huge of a beta invite, i think it's to further stress-test their servers, kinda of like simulating a launch.
Amazing nearly 10% of the opt-ins got in so far and Im left without one. Some dude got in 3 times!!...I gota stop talking crap about blizzard..they are watching me
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...
