Yeah so im currently playing my demon hunter on A3 inferno and no shit when a pack with reflect damage comes up to me i cant even touch them cause i die in a few seconds. Any tips on how to overcome such?
Well OP, I suffer the same problem, specially in places where kiting its a hard option (like right when I start a dungeon). I'm pretty sure the damn game knows how I suffer with Reflects Damage. It pops against me ALL THE TIME
Reflect damage are really easy given kiting room - Smokescreen/Prepartion removes any real challenge. invulnerable minions on the other hand - particularly fast ones - are a real bitch. I've taken to a tactic where I separate the adds and 'boss', die and then go kill 'boss' on his own
Also when kiting, find something to run in circles around - so much win. In addition, my build for inferno has hungering arrow + spike traps/scatter + caltrops/jagged spikes as my offensive abilities. Spike traps kiting is amazing \o/
In the Tower of the Damned I got an invulnerable minions group. They were close to the exit, so I had a lot of room for maveuvers. I managed to separate the boss from its minions and kill it (the mandatory Reflect Damage present of course). To my surprise, the minions were alive and they killed me of course. A nice bug I guess.
I had this happen too. It may have something to do with how far away the minions are from the leader when he dies.
The answer is obvious, stop doing such good damage and suck more!
But yeah I vote invulnerable minions unless they change it so at least Hungering Arrow can still pierce them. All mobs move so damn fast you can never get a clear shot
If you have a lot of resists / hp, reflect does almost nothing.
Lol i've only got 9k hp and I sit about 85k dps with sharpshooter. So yea i've died a million times from just firing off into the abyss at something that's blue, only to find out they are reflect dmg ><
Worst combo i ran into so far and it was first elite in A3, those stupid dogs...not really fast but annoying anyways....
Teleporter / Horde / Reflect / Invul
reflects damage + missile dampening = so much fun!
I found a mob like this the other day. It was the first missile dampening I'd found ever. I was really surprised that it just stopped all missiles in the little blue circle, instead of reducing damage or something. I died quickly upon finding it because it ran through all my Nether Tentacles at the same time and blew me up. I nearly killed it twice after it killed me since the missiles were still present and it stood in them. A mob like that can be killed with some tricky kiting , and it only took me a few deaths.
In conclusion, invulnerable minions is the worst and cheapest affix.
For Reflect Damage mobs what I do is carry a +300 life on hit amulet with me. When I see reflect damage I use this. It negates most of the damage. Also you can buy a +500 life on hit amulet on the AH for fairly cheap.
The only thing I can't get by now is immune minions. The best way I deal with those is to try to separate the minions from the unique or try to get the unique in front so I can dps him easier.
Lacuni or Soul Rippers with invulnerable minions and extra health. i don't see a worse mob possible in the game.
teleport vortex spearchuckers (obligatory extra health) have just been hilarious, disc runs out so fast trying to avoid their instant spears when they teleport or suck you in
soul rippers will always be the demon hunter bane though, find a worse mob in the game i dare you
Reflect is a pain for sure, usually happens I usually crit myself
But with a good team and being able to balance SS-Prep firing tentacles it can be doable.
For real fun find a Reflect Damage - Illusionist - Extra Health, those are a real hoot!
The 'Illusions' do not reflect damage this is a moot point. Invuln minions, considering the randomness of encounters (IE space available), Are a much bigger problem, but faster to kill.
To the OP. Learn to pot. I personaly use elemental arrow-nether tents (EA).
Learn to time. I feed out a string of them there tenticles, and they start to hurt me, I Smoke Screen (SS)(if you arent using this you are doing it all wrong) (if you dont have this glyphed for an extra .5 secs you are doing it all wrong) in the .5 secs it takes to get another SS. In that time, I am still spamming for another SS and never stopping the feed of my EA but now watching my health ready to pot at any hint of dropping below half. I normaly get another SS off (unless its a bunched group all being luckey crited at once) and then stop the line because i wont have a pot to save me. Get some distance, start a new feed of EA, and SS just as it hits them.
The main point is that like so many others, I go in with a plan. It may not be perfect but the timing and managment of resources is key with dealing with the DH's biggest pain IMO (biggest just because time is always a factor and they force you to kill them slower or die a couple times trying to zerg it). So work it out and it becomes the norm. Feed, feed, SS, pot, feed, feed, SS, gl.
Usually when I see a pack with reflects damage I have a couple of decisions to make:
1. Do I have more than 2 stacks of Nephalem Valor? If not then I will teleport to town and switch my build to Shadow Power with the rune Blood Moon.
2. If I have more than 2 stacks of NV I give it a shot.
3. Usually this results in them enraging or me committing suicide due to reflects damage, this is where I escape and bail on them.
And so sorry i didnt see this before...lawl...just lawl.
I really cant tell if you are for real.
L2P, saccing stacks for a worthless spell is not how its done. Smoke Screen > All

Soul rippers with Mortar is actually quite reasonable - they have to stop to cast the mortars, giving you plenty of time to kite them (and they won't catch you with their tounge-lash unless you stand still or run back and forth when they're not casting mortars).
Personally hate reflecters the most. Bam, 300K hungering arrow pierce in my face <.<.

Reflect dmg is not hard depending on other affixes.
If you can sit there and kite, it's easy, but mix it with fast and now you got a problem.
Demon Hunter - Fadeddeath
Monk - Lumos
Witch Doctor - Nox
Wizard - Nethershade
