Diablo 3 is now a requiem for dream, one that has long since shown itself to be just that, a dream.
Instead of creating a Diablo that appeals to core-fans, for core-fans, they went the corporate route and tried to appeal to the widest possible demographic. The result; Many non-core Diablo fans didn't get it "What's the point of this game" is what they said.
The core-fans felt shunned, "Why is this not like Diablo 2" they often said.
So in trying to appeal to the widest possible audience, they shunned both and it seems only a fraction of some fringe demographic remain. I've been fighting it for many weeks now. The dread uninstall, as if that singular action would be a confirmation of something I never wanted to see happen, Diablo 3 being a mistake.
If...and that's a big IF....I hear the right things in November, I'll be back. But I just don't see it. I'm moving on this 6th day of September 2013. A year and a half I fought through it. I stuck with it.
All I got in return was canned corporate jargon. This console bullshit did it for me. Not that I'm opposed to a console version. I'm opposed to the timing. The fact that they had the nerve to do that in the midst of their PC failure. The fact that they are obviously being forced by higher-ups to withhold real change, if it even comes at all, until well after the console so as not to interfere with console sales.
If you people can't see this, you're blinded by some intangible hope, as I have been. Unlike some dickheads, I won't be sticking around here to poke at people whom do, for some reason, stick with this game. If this latest chapter hasn't made you quit, nothing will but time. So a shout to some of the cool cats that prowl this forum. Maka, Zero, Elendiro.
Shaggy, you're not a pleasant person. Thanks for removing me from your F/L weeks ago and not having the balls to explain it when asked.
Hope the devs fight off the corporate entities and do the right thing, but I'm not sure they care either. Maybe I'll see y'all again. If I do, it's a good sign because that means Blizzcon wasn't just another one of their pomp-laden "shows" where they take a steaming shit on core fans while making it sound AWESOME.

Oh look, another person who thinks the rest of the internet cares when they decide to quit playing a game for awhile.
I guarantee a ton of people that post here have quit - for periods ranging from days to more than a year - without posting about it. And the world continued to turn just fine even without their big announcements.
And for the record, Shaggy is a very pleasant person. I've had several enjoyable farming sessions with him. Are you sure the problem isn't with you?
You should have done this ages ago, really. You last post about the Mystic proved that you are just in a state of permanent disappointment.
But i think you should have just quit without such a melodramatic post, it's just... bad. It's a shame, when you were in the right mood, you are enjoyable to read, but lately it was just doom and negativity which is unbearable.
Just move on and forget about this game, it's better for you, it will never meet your standards.
D2 had plenty wrong with it from my point of view. Things that were never fixed because of poor design. Stat points were stupid they way they were because there was a right way and a wrong way. Economy was a train wreck, gold not worth anything, dupes everywhere and bots jumping in and out of games promoting their websites every god damn second.
D3 has already improved on 2 of those points due to the auction house ... Love it or hate it, it solved those issues but created some others in the process- but those will be solved by making item sinks for top tier gear (enchanting/BOA). I hope that the d3 stat point system with the paragon 2.0 that gets added will be far far superior than d2s customisation.. D2 was not some holy grail of a game like some fans think it was. It was an awesome game but I think you ignore it's issues a lot. Thank god the d3 devs did not make me do 1000 butcher runs!
There are some good things that will hopefully come from them doing the console version
1) They have more money coming in, had good reviews and so there is even more incentive to create more D3 expansions in future. Maybe we will get 3 Expansions instead of 2 (if they had initially planned it that way..) . Maybe that = more staff can be hired etc
2) Now that the Console version is released maybe they can use the extra staff they hired for the Console to help with the PC loot 2.0/RoS development.
3) Hopefully they have acquired some lessons learned while working on the console version so that loot 2.0 would be even better than if they had never had a console version.
You take the opinion that PC has had to take a back seat while console has been developed and I do agree, however in some ways it can be a good a thing and I do not mind waiting. I waited a hell of a long time for D3 Vanilla, I think I can sit tight with what I have until they are ready to make polished changes to the game to make it as good as it can be.
I love d3 for what it is now. I play it each day I come home after work for about an hour and I have fun. I am excited about the future because it looks even better.
I am sorry to see you go coz you have given me a good few laughs on this forum.
I think you are wrong and hopefully that will be proven 'soon'...
Later Ruksak, I'll miss your posts. I expect to see you again at some point though.
FYI I'm not blinded of all how D3 unfolded. I just don't care. I'll stop playing then come back when more content or patches occurred just like I did with any other Diablo game. Can't say I played D2 for 8 years straight

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
Mmmm, yes, yes, Blizzard and it's god damned staggered releases, trying to make money and all.
I get it man, you want changes, and you want them now. I just honestly think you're kind of being a baby about it.
Also wtf you and me fight all the time, I'm sad you didn't include me in your list of people you hate D=
I just wanted to follow up on a few things before my much needed break.
I don't hate you, or shaggy, or anyone else here. I "hate" when people (principally you and Shag) decree others as "Children, babies, crying, moaning" etc for voicing displeasure.
Later Ruksak, I'll miss your posts. I expect to see you again at some point though.

I also wanted to be clear that I'm not calling people that do enjoy the game "blind". That would make me a pig. "Blind" was in reference to people who don't recognize that profits came before quality, that D3 PC has taken an obvious backseat to the console launch. Something I would've never pictured might happen.
I did play D2 for 8 years straight, exactly. First four offline, the next four online. I recognize that it wasn't perfect, but I didn't leave it angry. I left it fondly.
D2 had plenty wrong with it from my point of view.
Agreed. But there was much about it that was tremendous, terrific. Looking back at D3 now, very little of those "terrific" things were ported into the sequel. So much was trashed, and I cannot conceive as to why. D3 had many great successes, but MOST of it's failures were caused from their 'ground-up' approach.
You should have done this ages ago, really. You last post about the Mystic proved that you are just in a state of permanent disappointment.

It is out of respect that I won't be posting here until either my attitude improves, or, until Blizzard gives me a real reason to get excited. My excitement over the Gamescom announcement lasted exactly 2 days. That was until I started realizing the vacuum in improvement, in respect toward D3 PC, from 1.08 through the announcement of the console, the release of the console to now and for apparently many months to come.
I'll be back and when I am, I'll bring with me a better attitude and hopefully a renewed energy for my Diablo passion. If I do not return, well....it will mean I thought Blizzcon to be a ......con.
The core-fans felt shunned, "Why is this not like Diablo 2" they often said.
I'm a core fan, and I'll answer that.
Because it is better than Diablo 2. There, I said it. It has an actual economy, it has a "respec system", a better skill system, better Legendary-Rare balance, and just flat out more variety in gameplay/grinding.
And because Diablo 2 is a game from 2000, while we're in 2013. The standard game quality demdands changes to core systems that are archaic, jurassic.
If...and that's a big IF....I hear the right things in November, I'll be back. But I just don't see it. I'm moving on this 6th day of September 2013. A year and a half I fought through it. I stuck with it.

If you people can't see this, you're blinded by some intangible hope, as I have been.
Some of us are blinded by sheer fun. D3 (both on its release state, and on its many patches) was by far some of the most fun I've had in gaming in the past few years.
Find something you actually enjoy, that will certainly help.
Splinter Cell Blacklist is the best stealth game I've played in a long time (beating even games like Chaos Theory and recent contenders like DIshonored). Rayman Legends is probably some of the best level designI've seen in a platformer in a loooong time, reminded me of Donkey Kong and good ol' Mario games.

You sir are everything that's wrong with the gamers nowadays, and the reason why we get such crap products like D3 served to us in the first place.
Wow, I thought the D2 purists died out a long time ago. Tell me, does the jerkass attitude come packaged with the rose-tinted glasses, or is that a separate purchase?
I actually agree with zero, I do think D3 is better or at least as good as D2. People often look at D2 with nostalgia and it clouds their overall view point.
I'm not a D2 purist; in fact I have nearly 1k Hours spent in D3, but I can be *OBJECTIVE*, and his points are just so..... retarded, sorry I just can't find a more fitting/ decent word... that I had to comment. He mentions basically everything that's wrong with D3 as an ADVANTAGE and as a good thing. Wow. Just wow.
The only thing he does not mention is the combat/ fluidity/ graphics, which is kind of the only thing where D3 beats D2. Go figure.
ob·jec·tive [uhb-jek-tiv] 1. not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased. 2. intent upon or dealing with things external to the mind rather than with thoughts or feelings, as a person or a book

It was nice to have you around Ruksak, I enjoyed reading all your posts. Although my opinion on the game is different to yours, I don't respect you any less for acting upon your opinion.
Although there's many out there and on the forums here that have opinions and cry about the current state that D3 is in at the moment, a lot of them don't actually provide detailed explanations such as you had in nearly all of your posts.

Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."
"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"
I don't usually waste my time. But let's take the bait this time.
It has an actual economy.
Please tell me what do you think of a 280 Dex 85 Vit Mempo. Can you tell how much that's worth? Can you quantify its value based on supply/demand? Can you buy it using an actual currency that works like one? Let's try it with other gear pieces. How about an Inna's Vast Expanse with 160 Vit and 65 All Res? Is it better than a 50 Vit 80 All res one? Does it change from one region to the other (US, EU)?
Enlighten me with your infinite knowledge of Diablo 2 about how that game's economy was better than D3's. Even better, explain in how that game even had an economy (and please leave the idiots who lost actual money being scammed and buying duped gear from third-party websites out of the explanation).
It has a better respec system.
You're not stuck with that INT you chose because you thought your Wiz/Sorceress, being an intel based class, would use her intelligence to be a viable end-game character. You're not stuck with that STR for your Barb which can probably only kill stuff on Hell through Berskerk. You wanna make your class use the stat that makes sense with its lore, and use it to increase its offensive power? Too bad.
Do you even know what I'm talking about? Or did you only play D2 up to Normal Act IV, and is jumping on the fan bandwagon? The rose-tinted-glass symptom usually indicates that.
In D3, you can change gear pieces around and rebalance the power of your character. Too squishy? Get more EHP pieces. Taking too long to kill? Change that +AllRes +Vit ring into a Trifecta one. Dying to Reflect Damage and from standing in Plague? Get more sustain. I'm deeply sorry if I prefer a system that actually requires you to use your intelligence instead of 50 hours of grinding the same shit for levels/stat-pointsbecause the game design surrounding stats is crap.
It has a better skill system.
Almost every skill in Diablo 3 is more interesting looking and more fun to use than the majority of D2 active skills.
Maybe please tell me how managing Paladin auras made the gameplay so much more fun in D2? Or how Leap(Attack) could actually be used for something. Or how much fun was it to farm with a Hammerdin pressing the exact same BUTTON (singular, not plural) for hours. Oh wait, nevermind, you had to press 3 buttons - 1 for potion spam, 1 for Enigma's Teleport and 1 for Hammer. Such tactical decisions.
You sir, are everything that's wrong with "old school nostalgic" gamers. Stuck in the same mindset forever. Incapable of accepting any change. Can't even simply deal with a different opinion than yours. Can't handle the fact that someone is enjoying a game, and you aren't.
But hey, keep... that... up... In 30 years you're gonna be blabbering about how your grandsons' music is shit, how "there weren't so many problems back then", how that new Virtual Reality is crap and videogames of 2005 were better than it, how their hobbies are less fun than playing paper-and-pen RPGs, and how their new brain-implanted cellphones are a dumb novelty. I'm sure everyone will love that attitude.
I would not compared D3 to D2. Those games are miles away even if they seem so close to each other from a sequel stand point. But the truth is that D3 did not delivered what people hoped for. No skill balance at all and seeing that no work as been put into it. No PVP which is the 1st reason I stopped playing. and then, itemization, challenge, villain personalities, storyline... and i coudl go like this for hours. The system, graphics, control is good but it is missing a lot of things.
Will there be a better future for d3, i think so. But for now, it feels like buying a pizza and having it delivered with half of the slices missing.
On a side note, i don't really give a shit about you Ruksak fanboy. Never enjoyed your posts. Maybe you can step down from your cloud and come live with us mortals.
Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye. :] Nah but seriously goodluck with whatever you do with yourself. Enjoyed some threads with you. Maybe you'll be back, and if ya do come back we shall welcome you with arms wide open.
To everyone in this thread just hating on him... Let him say his goodbyes in peace. It's not like he's done anything wrong, He has an opinion he's voiced his opinion and is having the decency not to troll this site like some others do constantly making baseless arguments for this games suckery. He also has some points too so don't just dismiss him as a "hater" at least he's voicing his opinion instead of being Blizzards dick sucker.
