I'm also against elixir like we had in D1. It would be a great hole if people start dumping those items. We would have characters with 99999 points in all its attributes. I don't be so naive thinking people won't hack this new version of Diablo. Because they will.

    ...???

The Hydra rumor is pretty strong in my opnion.

Stupid idea. Your Str should both boost your damage and allow you to wear heavier gear. Why would I ever want to put more points in stamina and not life, given that vitality gets split into two. Just as energy effects both your mana and your mana regeneration rate. Also, each class benefits differently in different fields, so a Sorceress will gain more mana from energy and less health from vitaliity, whereas Barbarian recieves five health for each point invested in vitality. I don't see how tearing this system would make things better, for everyone would just try to maximize things they have to have.

Yes i also don't like that system. But the guys asked and I answered.

And about the status system, excentially it should be the same.
I just think that some types of items (like staffs or some special helms) should've Energy requirements.(Willpower, Spirirt, wheterver). I think its unfair a caster need to put points in STR for use armor but barbarian need no ENE cause nothing requires energy.
Also the increase in STR should be really significative to the damage.
And energy should be something excential to the caster (maybe now it is once we will have no more mana pot spam for infinity mana pool).

Having only direct status, like Attack Rating, Defense, HP, MP and Damage. When you level up you invest direct in one those and not in anything that will increase then.
    Ex:
You lvl up and put 5 points in HP, not 5 Points in Vitality.

It's weird that people think that asian themes don't fit into Diablo, the assassin was a ninja for christ sake. She used claw weapons similar to the ones used in ninjutsu. Martial arts kicks. I think all this negativity towards the samurai is simply because of the name. If Blizz is intending on making a samurai class they will change the name. Just like they changed Christianity into Zakarum.

I can't imagine anyone using magic, cause there is no such thing. If you can imagine all the classes in d2 using spells they why can't you imagine a samurai using them? Ridiculous, opinionated, argument.

Right, like you have any proof of that. The two so far are Barbarian (overused) and witchdoctor (semi-overused), so where are you pulling these conclusions from? Your ass?

Haven't you read my post ? I dind't said Asian themes don't fit into diablo'1s universe. I say i would like a asian class (and a asian act) u.u
I just said that i would not like to see a samurai in game's like diablo, and i give my reasons, if you disagree, to bad.

And why can't you imagine something that don't exist ? I (and everyone except you) easily can. And the classes who have magic powers in diablo are the classes that in our mythology content's had magic powers.
Sorceress, the resnascence satanist/artists who steal corpse from graveyards (necromancers), druids, the elite templars (paladin), legendary godlike female warriosr (from both greek and south america's native legends) and japonese ninjas are all characters from our world's legends who ''theorically'' had MAGICAL powers.
Also German tehres legends that german barbarian had unhuman powers (berserker) but nothing linked to magic.
All the myths about samurai are just about godlike swordplay, endurance, precision, honor and courage. Nothing pulling elecrity out of nowhere. Thats why Samurai casting spells sounds really weird - no just for me, but for everyone who study universal mythology.

posted a message on Samurai yes or no?
    3 reasons for NO:

    1) Samurai really don't fit well in diablo's universe. It's a personal opnion. For me samurai is just so cultural specific that i don't like it outside anything it isn't feudal japan (yes, i hated samurai class concept in FFXI and in any other game). For me if they only fit in a story that are 100% about samurais (like Blade of the Immortal and Kenshin).

    2) I can't imagine a samurai using elemental attacks and spells. It's too weird for me. However, we allredy have a 100% physical weponmaster, no more need for ''magicless'' warriors.

    3) Samurai is a over used class. It's almost like wizards and priests. In a game were you have many classes (8+ classes), its aceptable to get those generical archetypes, but in a game like diablo were we going to have only 5 classes, i think they will bring us 3 99% new concept, something never saw before. I really can't say how stupid it would be if the 3 remaining classes were Wizard, Cleric and Ranger.

I'm really not close-minded and i have nothing against oriental culture. I would really like a oriental class (and a oriental act) but - PLEASE - don't come with Samurai and Ninja stuff. It's overused.

I also liked the general concept of the class... Mix diferent elements to make new spells could be a good specific class tread.
    However i'm tired of elemental based-mages =(

    Imo Diablo = PvP.

In the old system was impossible to collect diferent gears to use in diferent PvP situation. We could keep a few rings and amulet, but we could's put like 4 or 5 diferent sets in the inventory.
Now we can =) Itemisation in pvp is a GREAT aspect.

I just wonder if you're going to put points in status (like D1 and D2) or the points are spent automatically (like in wow). Personally i prefer D1/D2 system by far. A little more constumisation and makes all the level uping thing more fun.

if thats the case they might as well change the game name to something else because diablo is all about bashing monsters and move forward.

It's not you who decides what diablo is about. It is blizz. If they want to make a cockroach porn movie and call it diablo, they will.

That's the most closed-minded thing I've read in months.

That's actually from a book I've been reading, but I think it applies. There are different kinds of "darkness".

There's the emo darkness of the Cathedral dungeons, shadow covering the corners and hiding misshapen objects in the gloom, screams echoing from the distance and reverberating off the rock and flagstone. Nothing wrong with this, it has its time and place. But you can't apply it to a whole game. Diablo isn't about a dungeon, anymore- it's about a living, breathing world on the brink of chaos.

There's the darkness of the deep jungles. Vines and trees as far as the eye can see, your path lost in an instant. Animal and human carrion strewn on the river bed, eyes watching you silently from the depths of the eaves, waiting for your most vulnerable moment. Insects buzzing maddeningly as you struggle to find your way through the foot-deep mud and thick underbrush. And, in Diablo II's case, cannibal tribal men warped by evil, their cauldrons filled to the brim with blood and gore, their dungeons dark and rank, filled with bones and bodies- all tortured to the brink of madness.

The silence of the northern caverns. Darkness everywhere. What little light there is reflecting and refracting through the crystals, showing mirages of walls and ways of escape where there are none. Your body ligaments completely numb from frostbite, probably never to be used again. Lost in a maze of ice, the remains of Barbarian would-be heroes nailed to wooden stakes and crosses, male and female, bodies laying across the icy floor, stiff and frozen in pools of their own blood. Beasts roaring and ramming through the tunnels, your hero running for his or her life. (That is how it was supposed to be, but because of character imbalance, the game was too easy.)

Don't you ever say it wasn't dark enough. It was a different kind of darkness- darkness reflected in horror, despair, hopelessness...

Bottom line, you can't apply the same thing you do to a defiled dungeon some hundred feet in to the earth that you can to a world that has lived in peace for twenty years and is just on the brink of being invaded by the forces of Hell. The colors you saw in the living world were allegorical to the relative prosperity of the world in the wake of the death of the Three and their conjured evils- if you know anything about artwork, you should know about symbolism. The only way this argument of yours holds any value is in the green dungeon in the beginning of the demonstration, which I barely agree with.

Yes i agree with your post. Theres many, many ways to make a game scary. But i never felt anything you said in those places in D2...

The ACT 3 jungles were not scary at all. Those frogmans and mosquitos were more like a cartoon monster then anything. Also the necromancer's curses makes enemy shine unnatural colors - red, green, orange, blue, yellow, etc.. - witch make the whole place a true disco.

In Act5 caverns the monster also don't scaryl. C'mon, purple minotaurs ? Ice Giants ?
And theres was no ''desolation mod'' in ice caverns. They were too filled with monster, too noise, to explosive, to fast. It was not about caution, pacience, like in any scary and dark game. It was about reflex like in a action game.

You've told about some gore elements who shocked as and i agree. Other places that gives us that mod is the durance of hate, anderial's room, Act4 chainned guys, the slaughtered harem.. Those are places who touched me. But what i wanted to say is that D2 is not ALL about those things. Many, many places in D2 are far from any 'dark' element. Like the fight against the barbarians in Arreat Summit, the siegie, the desert, the icy caverns, the funny act3 monsters. Thats was very, very nice, but no scary at all. Also, those gore elements could be find in some part of the WWI video. The virgins been exploded by inside and they bones creating a huge demon was very wicked, like any D2 ''darkness''.

What i'm trying yo say is that the darkness of D1 were allready lost in D2.
It's more a question of gameplay then artwork. They just fixed the dungeon darkness because it was not good for a fast hack slashing game like D3, once it was TERRIBLE in D2.
I also didn't ilke the Blue/Green senseless lights and i've sign the petition.
But that block n'white video was just stupid. No way they would make a game like that.

Dont compare D3's wowish direction to gear of war. I like gears of war, thank you.

The temples in D2's desert were dark, thank you.

If blizzard wants to make a new style of game, fine. But id rather them not defecate on the diablo universe I had so enjoyed.

I didn't say Gears of War.. i said God of War.

I didn't talk about the temples, i talk about the desert outdoor.
If you want dungeon exemple - well you can have Arcane Sancturay or World Stone Keep both sparyk and no-dark places. The only thing D2 have and D3 don't is the light radius system witch was pretty shity in D2 (not in D1).

Synergies are better then Diablo 2's original system. Much, much better.
However in the D2 skill system itself suck, once most of the skill are worthless without 10+ points. That forces player to use only 1 or 2 skill witch make the gameplay stupid...
In this point D1>D2 by far.

It obvious that they don't want to make a ''horror'' game, where you feel fear for beign in a creepy enviorament and are sundelly attacked all the time (like in Resident Evil 4 and Diablo 1).
-Limited Vision, slow movement speed, low health - those are things that makes the game scary.

They want a action game, more like God of War, where you face hordes of monster or just one huge monster(or even both!) and cut off those things head like a bloody and overpowered super hero.
High movementation skills like leaps and charges, perfect vision of all the enviorament, explosive sparky skills - all those things make you feel a ''one-man army'', like in a action game.

Forget about the shiver's you got in D1. I think D3 is not about it.
About D2, ppl keep being very seletive. Theres no dark mod in the deserts, cannibal child with giant heads or icy caverns.

Creat a huge base of random quests. The outside world will change a little based at those random events.
    Ex:
You get a quest that you need kill a boss inside a graveyard cathacombs. If you haven't the quest, you will not be able to enter the restricted cathacomb, but if you got the quest you got a key that let you get inside the extra dungeon.
The dungeon itself would be random, but with some critical parts pre inscripted. I walso would like puzzles. It would fix very nicely in the game.

I enver liked pure socket items, once its auseless constumisation. You may get a elite wepon full o sockets and put perfect gems, still it's not a good item. To fix this they created the runeword.
I think sockets could be like in wow. Some magic, rare and unic equips have small amount of sockets dor a small constumisation.
It's like have infinity open socket questings.
