That is a workaround, not a solution.
thats why I suggested adding level restrictions to the hostility part only. so anyone of any level can join the game, but only people within a set amount of levels u specify can go hostile towards you.
like a lvl 70 can join a game with a bunch of lvl 40s but wont be able to go hostile on anyone unless they are within, say, 5 levels of his (65-75) or whatever the specified level difference was when the game was created. I see that as the best compromise.

you know what... I think the PvP system should stay the same, what should be changed though is, when some one creates a game maybe we should have the option to restricts the level of toggling the Hostile on, like, you can make a game where no one over 5 levels above or below you can go hostile towards you. that way people who are scared of being PKed can feel safer.

PK? How is PKing competitive? While I agree that the system is fine as is (it is fun to randomly kill one another for fun, screwing around), I am adamantly against PK.
I dont know about you, but for me it was one of the things that drove me to make much stronger characters.

You have not addressed the largest and most concrete justification for the removal of PK (assumedly) in D3:

The dev. team has specifically stated and re-stated the D3 is first an foremost a co-operative game. This statement alone clearly reveals (as does the cited post) Blizzard's stance on PK'ing in D3.
that just means that the new team knows nothing about Diablo games. they're still thinking in their WoW state of mind. the Diablo series is as much competitive as it is cooperative, if not more.

that said I love the argument and vote that PK stays.

Mercs, yes. I would like to see customizable mercs like D2 LoD, but I certainly dont want a permanent merc!

I think Blizzard made the '20 years into the future' move strategically, so as to introduce some new skills (not guns, please) but maybe something like an 'horadric youth' or 'horadric padawan' if you will.
I wouldnt be surprised to see guns in Diablo III. even though I personally dont want to see them, i woldnt be surprised if they are there.
Because... If you remember in LoD act 5 the blacksmith (lazarus i think was his name... not sure... sorry if I'm worng) was talked about trying to make one.

The current bar layout and the skills seen used on the two revealed character classes look too similar to that of which would be seen in Guild Wars. I would suggest that the art for skill tabs is similar to that which was used in Diablo II.
    I second that!
the skill tree from Diablo II was genius and I wouldn't change it. skill tabs at 20 is perfect!
    anything less is just horrible.

posted a message on Diablo III Producer Justifies Controversial Art Direction: Color Is Your Friend

i do agree that the lighting could be better but dude it is a demo. Besides it has no influence on the feeling of the game what so ever( don't quote i know it does help a little).
sorry but I'm going to have to quote you on this...

It doesnt help a little... If u play Diablo II with no background music, the atmosphere feels just as dark, its not just the lighting people are complaining about, its the art direction as a whole. Do u ever see a Rainbow in Diablo or Diablo II???
Do u ever see a Rainbow mention in any of the Diablo novels???
    NO!!!
so why are there rainbows in Diablo III????

the art and coloring sets the whole mood of a game, and the Diablo series was originally a dark gothic series, with art styles that superbly reflected that so far, It was Diablo's soul, its very core. but in the Diablo III gameplay video it seems that all that is missing, and the games art style looks very much like that of WoW with gay colors and childish art. so we cant help but be frustrated at that!!

P.S gay colors = colors that reflects happyness or a happy atmosphere.

Paladin: This prediction is based solely on the coop play that has been emphasized. What better than a party buffer and healer.

Priest: I think if they are truely making a rewarding coop play with distictive play styles a some what pure healing class may finally come into the mix. This would simply speed up the dungeon crawling. No waiting on globes.

Hunter: I really think we will see a non summoning class with a permanent pet arrive. The reason I see this as a prediction is simply the easy steal from WoW. They can have the customization options eaily based on WoW where the Hunter or the pet can be the primary damage output based on the abilities you choose.

Wants: I would like to see a rogue and a druid. I think what these classes have become in WoW would make them fun to play in Diablo. I dont really want to see the zon but there will be a need for a mage.
what's with the WoW thinking??? this is Diablo we're talking about not WoW!!!
the paladin wasnt used for buffs or healing, when was the last time u saw a healer do UBER tristram solo???? or rush 7 noobs though hell difficulty? your insulting the Diablo Paladin with your talk.
preist?????? Diablo is a fast paced game, while online play is a big part of diablo its not a DAMN MMO, so solo/single player is not that rare, and there's no place for a preist in a single player game!!
Hunter??? I'd rather u use the term Druid if ur talking about a class that could summon animals do to his bidding for him!!!!
if you wanna talk WoW please stick to a WoW forum! I (and many other Diablo fans I'm sure) would like to see nothing from WoW in Diablo!! or atleast not so much from that to the point it becomes a non MMO WoW game.

as for other classes I would like to see.

the sorcerer/sorcress: needed for their teleportation skills and elemental damage.
An amazon/assassin: type who can use traps and long ranged weapons.
and the paladin: the DIABLO type that could use his smite/holy hammer.
(since they removed the Necro who could summon tons of skeles and was able to Uber solo the only other character who could do that was a smiter pally, and I would hate to see one or both go)

posted a message on Diablo III PK and PvP
    now I'm totally depressed!
blizzard is taking out the heart and soul of diablo 3 and replacing it with one from WoW.
the art direction is WoW-ish, when i paused the gameplay video over the skills it looked like the 20 skill tab on the D2 skill tree has been replaced by some WoW-like skill system.
and now the PvP aspect of the game seems like its going to lean more towards a WoW-ish view rather than a Diablo view.... WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU BLIZZARD!!! (sorry but I'm seriously frustrated)

What made the Diablo series so great was that it kept you excited, and the PvP system was one of the most exciting aspects of Diablo. knowing that you could be killed by someone at any moment is part of the fun and it kept people involved with the game.
if u didnt want that, u could always make a password proteced game or put a level tab on ur game... easy as that!!!!

The Diablo II skill tree was one of the best damn things that ever happened to the Diablo games. because of it we where able to have many many builds of the same class, the builds seemed infinite. they where certaintly much more than anything the WoW skill system offered.

And the art, NO BLIZZARD ITS NOT JUST MUSIC THAT GIVES DIABLO ITS DARK FEEL!!! music is a huge factor in the equation but even more importantly is the color scheme. NICE COLORFUL RAINBOWS DONT FEEL LIKE "DIABLO" AT ALL!!!! no matter how eerie the music playing in the background is.

Blizz needs to take their heads out of WoW's ass and look into Diablo's instead!!!

P.S please excuse me for my language but I think I have the right to be mad as I am a "Diablo" fan who has been waiting for this game to come out for 8 years!!! and seeing them turn this game to something more of a non MMO WoW game is just disgusting to me!!

thats expected really ^_^ even if people who played the game before where able to ignore their need to replay the game for a while, it became impossible to do that now. and the Diablo 3 announcement is what made that little whisper in ur head telling u to play Diablo II again into a deafening shout that cant be ignored anymore
    xD

on that note, sadly i live i moved from canada to the UAE here due to work reasons, and 8 years ago when Diablo II came out it wasnt released here for religious reasons
although i still have my cds i have lost my cd key for LoD :( and now im forced to play the single player only.

if anyone has an extra CD for LoD that they could Pm with i would certainly try to make it up to them somehow :)
or maybe someone could pm with one and i'll play on a different sever :)
