Sep 17, 2008Djinn_690 posted a message on Able Gamers Interviews Blizzard, Leaves Us PuzzledI think I know what they did! They tape recorded the interview and where too lazy to type it all up, so they probably just played it back and used the voice recognition thing that's available on almost all computers now instead of typing it themselves.Posted in: News
And they didn't even bother to edit it afterward. -
Sep 5, 2008Djinn_690 posted a message on Top 10 Monster Comebacks in Diablo IIIwhile this was an ok read, I feel that the author of this piece will be greatly disappointed in Diablo III.Posted in: News
The reason I say this is because he expects too much of them. For almost every monster on his list there was a "since its been 20 years, they better have evolved into some badass monsters who can whoop your ass instantly"
... we all know that's not how it'll work in Diablo III, I think it was Jay who mentioned that Normal mode can be beat by spamming one skill the whole way through so... -

I'm pretty sure they mean something though if they swore him to secrecy.Quote from "Karjalan" »Well the runes had already been figured out... there was the rune from frostmourne (warcraft), the hel rune (diablo), something from starcraft... the symbol that was on the cover of Pax Eternia (and OOOLLLLD blizzard game) and something from the lost vikings... can't remember.
But basically it was the core 5 gameing franchizes they had worked on.
On the surface that's what it might seem like, but maybe that's what they want us to think. -
Aug 29, 2008Djinn_690 posted a message on Jay Wilson Interview for www.grytv.plI wonder why they're secretive about what the symbols on the runes mean :confused:Posted in: News

yea but thanks to randomly generated quests, some of the randomly generated dungeons will be useful in Diablo III.Quote from "Dimebog" »Actually, no. They said on numeral occasions that they are going for the similar length to those in D2. That may well mean shorter, since each act in D2 had at least 60% dungeons and areas which are completely useless and no one ever entered.
Also I dont mind the same length, (btw Diablo II wasn't short at all if you're actually finishing every quest and not rushing) also the random side quests should add some gameplay time and greatly increase replayablity if done right. -

One would do well to save said images should they again decide to take advantage of increased traffic and misdirect one towards the account creation page.
Thanks for the link Rakanishu. -

in the end, each class will have a certain set of "best gear for that build" instead of Diablo II's "best stats AND gear" and in the end Gear was still far more important than stats stats anyways in Diablo II.
I just don't see what the problem is with keeping stats customization. It just adds more depth to character customization and that was never a bad thing.
*thank you for pointing that out SNowfreak.

Blizzard, like all gaming companies (& 90% of businesses), has been greatly affected by this financial crisis.
If you had any stocks in ActivisionBlizzard, or have been keeping an eye out on their stock prices you'd know that they went down from around $34 USD from when they first joined, all the way down to $8 USD today... that's a pretty harsh fall for a giant like Blizzard, and even the release of WoW: WotLK wasn't able to save them.
The gaming industry is just as threatened by the financial crisis as any industry if not more so than the others. People aren't able to dish out $60 for every game they want any more. Also investors are pulling out and running with as much, or as little as they can right now, and I bet you if you look at the figures of WoW subscribers you'll see that Blizzard will loose at least 2 million subscribers within this quarter.
My worries about Diablo III aren't based on nothing my friend, they're legitimate, very legitimate.

I just hope the development speed doesn't slow down because of the financial crisis.

whether we like it or not, that's how they're gonna do it.
they wont make any big announcement like a class announcement via site updates. That's pretty much a fact.
They're going to wait for either one of their own events, or a big gaming event, and make sure they have all eyes on them when they make a big announcement like that.
It's all marketing and advertisement.

It's mainly done, but Blizzard will keep going back and revising it, adding new things if they need to. Update certain areas, etc.
But yes, the main part is done. and they're probably 3/4 done with the main part of act 2 as well.
From what I understand Blizzard is working on the game in an act to act basis, so they finish with one act then they go on to the next. That being said, "finishing" the act probably just means finishing the terrain part of it for Blizzard and that probably includes the terrain for the Adventure mode as well.

Had to clear cache a couple of times before I got it to work, but it looks amazing.
Unfortunately though I don't consider this a real update I hope they come up with a real update soon.
or at least a new wallpaper with the female wizard.

I still don't understand why people still believe in that, even though by the time it was posted here on Diablofans the author of that theory had already said it was all just a big joke he felt like playing on the Diablo community.
Also, all the numbers behind his theory where made up.

A huge delay like that will only do harm to it.

What I want is a Boss that will actually come at you with all he's got. Most RPG bosses hold back or have predictable attack patterns. I think Diablo III should move away from that formula and make a more spontaneous boss that wont hold back and will actually make chase after you if you try to escape.
My biggest fear of all is that Diablo III will have those button pressing sequences that appear a lot in GoW games.

I do want to see a plain black shirt with the three stripes on it and Diablo's skull face sort of showing through the stripes.
