I hated class specific items in D2 and I hope they're not included in D3. I hated finding them in single player and battlenet and having to either sell them or transfer them to other characters (which was also kind of a pain. I hope they revamp transfer of items for D3). I can't count on my fingers how many times I found rare or premium class specific items for other classes in D2. Whenever I found class specific items for my class, I didn't enjoy them as much as I enjoy uniques/sets/rares/socketed. Items already look different on different classes, so I don't see the point of them.
If they're not removed, I hope that you will not be able to find class specific items for other classes, at least in single player.

Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic

I like class specific items, it just fits the game better also the sets were class specific if you wanted the special ability you get like the Necro becoming that thing ( I forget the name). I would just prefer having both class specific and non-specific items.
Sadly, I think they'll be even more abundant in Diablo 3. I sure hope not though.. but it looks like both the barbarian and witch doctor had specialized helmets for them. WHich may mean that helmets ar eonly class-specific, or maybe the helmets transform to suit the character like other bits of armor. Either way, that totally sucks, I want non-class-specific looks. But, perhaps there will be.
Regardless of that, the Witch doctor mask and barbarian helm make me almost certain there will be class-specific items.

haha, he called them premium items! i think you mean unique. The beige colored ones.
class specific items own! they need to include them, or a section of the game would be missing. And that transferring thing you mentioned, it doesn't even make sense. So you're saying every item you find that is not class specific are items that you would use? If you are a barb and find some nice cloth armor, you probably wouldn't wear it, and you would have to get rid of it somehow. The same amount of trouble.
Of course every class wouldnt be able to use everything, so there needs to be class specific items. I think the witch doctor masks are already class specific anyways. What would it look like if you saw a barbarian running around in one?
This poll should be more than just YES or NO. I like a few class-specific items as was the situation in D2. If they get too crazy then it takes all the thought out of character builds.
I am all right with class specific items, but I think the fact that you get LESS items for yourself but MORE for other classes is not a very smart idea, especially for single player or solo multiplayer people...
Class Specific items are great. I mean you can't expect witch doctors to be happy wearing a skull cap.
And if you find a unique item you can't use just deal with it, yeah you were unlucky but who cares? The game should be a challenge and refrain from baby feeding us.
I will add that it's not true that you are unlucky, just trade it, this is what makes an economy.
Class sets were nice to have, but from what I have heard D3 is barring you to only wear class items. Which is a stupid choice IMO. Half the fun of D2 was that you could do whatever you wanted in terms of gear. If you wanted a plate-wearing Necromancer more power to you!
Imagine a Barbarian with a wand... etc. It just doesn't makes sense. That and I think it brings a dynamic part to each class. It's something to strive for, etc. I'm assuming they will be creating sets, and it would only makes sense to make those sets class specific. This way the loot table will favor the classes they are used for.
Class Specific Items makes it a bit more interesting, so i say yes.
also i would love to having to mule stuff over to my other chars is much easyer.
it was a real %$#% to do it in D2.
A couple of class specific items are cool, like the shrunken heads of the necromancer and claws of the Assassin. However I wouldn't like them to go overboard like in Hellgate: London where 1/6ths of the items dropped are unusable for your character (all items for each six classes are class specific).

Well damn, 38 to 3 is in favor of them.
And I am 1 of the 38. Class specific is really good.. and Blizzard said they are working on revamping the transferring of items.
