Seth I already mentioned a bunch of ways to avoid getting PK'd. Its not hard at all to avoid, and your not subjected to anyones cruelty if you'd just learn the game instead of cry about it.
I'm not crying about it. Watch your trolling, please. You shouldn't have to have to avoid people exploiting unintended glitches in the game to kill you without you deserving for it or asking for it. It discourages playing together and making public games to any degree.
Sure it seems like being a jerk, but its damn fun, and whether you like it or not it adds a huge element of randomness to the game.
How does it add to the "randomness" of the game? It just pisses me off that I lost a ton of gold and can't get back to my body when all I was trying to do was play the game.
I've never played a game that was strictly co-op pvm for anywhere near the length of time I've played D2.
Strange. I did every day. In fact, I would say the overwhelming majority are just that.
The thing is, its just a freaking game. If you get owned, sit back, laugh, becuase it was probably hilarious, get better, and maybe you wont get owned the next time.
Okay. Let's keep bots in the game. It's just a game, right? It doesn't matter. Let's keep MH. It's just a game. Let's keep TPPK. Let's undo every patch, undermine every security measure in the game, and let's all laugh about it because it's just a game. Sounds good.
Dorge, you don't lose exp for dieing to a player. Go test it before it you don't believe me. Join a duel game with a guy half leveled and die 10 times, you won't lose any exp.
Seth, how is getting PK'd an unintented glitch? How is PK a hack? And to think, you accuse me of trolling. Last I checked blizzard intentionally put in the hostile toggle as a part of D2, it wasn't an accidental glitch. Saying we should allowing hacking if we allow legit PK is just being ignorant.
How does it add to the randomness of the game you ask? Well, every encounter with a player is going to be different. Every encounter with the lame ai on hordes of wimp monsters is the same exact thing over and over and over. What's the strictly pvm only game you've been playing for 10 years btw, I'd like to try it out.
Dorge, you don't lose exp for dieing to a player. Go test it before it you don't believe me. Join a duel game with a guy half leveled and die 10 times, you won't lose any exp.
Yeah, he's right. You only lose it from dying from monsters.
Seth, how is getting PK'd an unintented glitch?
Is it advertised on the box? Is it advertised on Diablo II's site? Did they ever once say "play Diablo II because you can kill innocent people weaker than you"?
How is PK a hack?
I said it's an exploit.
And to think, you accuse me of trolling.
Because you said anyone that doesn't agree with your viewpoint is "crying".
Last I checked blizzard intentionally put in the hostile toggle as a part of D2, it wasn't an accidental glitch.
Correct, I never said otherwise. I said PK was an unintended exploit.
Saying we should allowing hacking if we allow legit PK is just being ignorant.
I said we should allow every exploit if we're allowing PK, since it is an exploit. Exploits are things that the developers would not intend to be used in the game, including security flaws which would lead to the prevalence of hacks, dupes, bots, and any other number of things.
How does it add to the randomness of the game you ask? Well, every encounter with a player is going to be different. Every encounter with the lame ai on hordes of wimp monsters is the same exact thing over and over and over.
How is getting PKed a thousand times make it any more random? It's the same thing over and over- the strong killing the weak because they can't face people of their own power.
What's the strictly pvm only game you've been playing for 10 years btw, I'd like to try it out.
It's an exploit because there wasn't a big warning label on the box that says PK ALLOWED when you bought it? Am I following correctly?
I never said anyone who doesn't agree with me is crying, I said learn the game instead of crying. Your just grasping at straws by saying we should allow bots and tppk if we allow legit PKing. Things like...
How is getting PKed a thousand times make it any more random?
and
How is getting PKed a thousand times make it any more random? It's the same thing over and over- the strong killing the weak because they can't face people of their own power.
prove your just babbling. What percent of your baal or chaos runs even have a PK'er join? One in ten maybe? How long would it take you to do 10,000 baal runs to get pk'd 1000 times, assuming you lose every time?
The strong killing the weak? I've never come across a character I couldn't kill, or was able to create a character that never died. It's just easier to kill people reluctant to learn the game as is, that would rather just have features removed because "its not fair." How is it not fair? What can I do within the gaming environment that you can not? It is perfectly fair.
How is getting PKed a thousand times make it any more random? It's the same thing over and over- the strong killing the weak because they can't face people of their own power.
So....get stronger? You get beat up in real life you sit there go "Waaah world, why are you so cruel to me, why did you give me all the potential to be just as strong and skilled and force me to ignore it." Noone is forcing you to be bad at the game, it is just your skill obviously at the game. Like nickm83 has said, there is no 1 character that runs everything, there is no immortal character, and like I have said there is no way to kill people unless the people are dumb enough to sit down there. Blizzard has already nullified PK in numerous ways as you are aware, when will it be enough for people to quit crying cause they are bad? Removed loot, removed tps, removed wps, ect...only thing they could do is make this game pure PvM so you bad players can actually do something.
And im sorry but you feel that PvM'ers are the main fanbase of Diablo? Who still plays Diablo to this day? PK'ers and PvP'ers, we have always been there and always will be. Your fanbase of PvM'ers are nothing compared to PvP'ers. You guys struggle to kill monsters then get in a fit of rage once a good player demolishes the monsters and you at the same time.
Now you will prob say im trolling, but hey the truth hurts buddy, if you don't think so, I am on east as well and I can prove just how bad you are at the game and thus proving that your say on how PvP should work shouldn't hold as much ground as what a PvPer says.
You guys just latch onto the developers nuts and repeat anything they say cause they are like your big brother here to protect you, but like I have said, there is no way to prevent griefing unless you play by yourself, you will be griefed regardless of PvP or not and you are only killing your only option of stopping griefeing that is by killing the griefer.
ROFL well said vladdracul. People will grief people in games no matter what. If pvp was completely removed in diablo 3, what am I going to do when I'm bored. I'm gonna grab my uber character, join some exp run or whatever, not join there party, and kill everything so I screw their game up. They'd be begging to bring back PK then so they are at the mercy of their skill and game knowledge whether then completely at the mercy of someone else, because despite what they think now that's not how D2 is.
It's all the developers faults. They suck at Diablo hardcore and they have proven that with their statements regarding how hard monsters are in Diablo haha.
So I guess the good players who are the outcast by the developers and the bad players will have to just clear the whole game so no one can level, they will have to swamp wps with monsters, they will have to just verbally harass you guys. It's gonna happen why shoot your foot and eliminate your only option to defend yourself haha?
There are 2 people on Diablo:
Pk'ers and PvP'ers
Whiners who are shit talkers and jump people to get their way
The Pk'ers and PvP'ers will find a way to slam you to the floor, the whiners and shit talkers are stuck at just whining now.
OMG..:O.. seriously they already stopped the Griefers with the adding of a Constent to Duel system, both have to agree to duel, so no more pking, no more mass killing, no more Crying that some kid got owned by jumps.... he consented to duel, its done w/ now. Griefers can stop crying BM XD. Blizzard knew how to stop it, and it was more simple than many of our ideas.

Tenant 2: Hide in plain sight. Let the people mask you that you become one with the crowd
No one have said anything about removing PvP.
The important thing is to have some control over it so people that don't want to PvP aren't forced to PvP (or escape from PvP).
...and to do it without making legit pvp any less fun!
ppl who complain about being pvped/killed need to grow up, it's a game. When I play many other games I die plenty of times and neither I or anyone else online complains, but diablo seems to be filled with crybabys and complainers. plus who cares about losing gold in d2 and in d3 becuse they're making it soft I don't think you even lose gold or exp anymore when you die.
It's an exploit because there wasn't a big warning label on the box that says PK ALLOWED when you bought it? Am I following correctly?
It's an exploit because it obviously wasn't intended to be in the game or they would have said so somewhere, which they don't.
I never said anyone who doesn't agree with me is crying, I said learn the game instead of crying.
Let us examine how you cleverly dance around rules and use inductive negativity. You say:
Its not hard at all to avoid, and your not subjected to anyones cruelty if you'd just learn the game instead of cry about it.
Which means, of course, that anyone that does not agree with you would be one of these people that cry because they do not "learn the game" (which, in your opinion, is everything that is glitched or exploited). Therefore, yes, that would mean you are calling everyone that disagrees with your extremist views one who "cries".
Your just grasping at straws by saying we should allow bots and tppk if we allow legit PKing.
There's nothing legit about PKing. It's illegitimate. It was not intended. Same concept behind an illegitimate child.
prove your just babbling.
Waiting for some evidence.
What percent of your baal or chaos runs even have a PK'er join?
None within the last month, though there was one circumstance in a Chaos run. Which I took care of.
One in ten maybe?
Nope.
The strong killing the weak? I've never come across a character I couldn't kill, or was able to create a character that never died.
The strong taking advantage of an exploit to kill the weak. There's plenty of opportunity to man a real challenge. Killing the weak is like going around taking candy from children.
It's just easier to kill people reluctant to learn the game as is,
You've just completely changed the argument. It's not killing newbies that's an issue, it's killing the weak.
that would rather just have features removed because "its not fair." How is it not fair? What can I do within the gaming environment that you can not? It is perfectly fair.
I never said it wasn't fair. Everyone is perfectly able to exploit the game just like you. I said it is unfortunate that strong people have to kill the weak because they can't beat people their own size.
He isnt right, when I pvp in nightmare or up, when I die it says you lost exp, and I do. Still does, ive cheked.
It says you do on the screen but you really don't. It's a misnomer.
They'd be begging to bring back PK then so they are at the mercy of their skill and game knowledge whether then completely at the mercy of someone else, because despite what they think now that's not how D2 is.
That's exactly how Diablo II is...
Now vlad, I am going with the assumption all your arguments were aimed at me, so if it seems awry, well, excuse me
So....get stronger? You get beat up in real life you sit there go "Waaah world, why are you so cruel to me, why did you give me all the potential to be just as strong and skilled and force me to ignore it."
How will you get stronger if you just get beat down when you try to make a game to get people together to play the game by someone who has already finished it and feels an incessant urge to ruin it for other people?
Noone is forcing you to be bad at the game,
You aren't bad at the game if you get PKed. It's like saying you're bad at life if you get raped and shot in the face.
it is just your skill obviously at the game.
It really isn't. If you're all in a happy party, some guy TP's and his projectiles kill you because he can click the hostility button really fast, how does that involve skill on your part? Are you supposed to be omniscient? Should we just not play in parties, or only in parties of our friends? How do we make friends if we can't trust anybody? It's just stupid to think about. PKing was not intended and will be gladly gone. You guys can all do real challenges, like killing someone who's prepared.
Like nickm83 has said, there is no 1 character that runs everything, there is no immortal character,
I would agree and never said otherwise.
and like I have said there is no way to kill people unless the people are dumb enough to sit down there.
That's completely incorrect. First off, you're calling anyone that gets killed by an exploit dumb. Well, duh, of course they aren't going to consider it- exploits aren't part of the game. Even if they memorized the manual they would have never known about an exploit. They're not supposed to be there. Secondly, PKing does not mean you're just standing there. It can easily involve a fully geared lite sorce with maxed out FCR that hits hostile and teleports on you before you can click ESC. If you make a public game telling what area you want players to help you cover, they will know where you are. It's completely counterintuitive to cohesive team play.
And im sorry but you feel that PvM'ers are the main fanbase of Diablo?
No, I don't. I feel it is largely the focus of the game, however, since they put almost no thought in to PvP with Diablo I or Diablo II.
Now you will prob say im trolling, but hey the truth hurts buddy, if you don't think so, I am on east as well and I can prove just how bad you are at the game and thus proving that your say on how PvP should work shouldn't hold as much ground as what a PvPer says.
Well, no, it's not the truth, but yes, you are trolling. I'm just not allowed to do anything about it because I'm now personally involved in the matter.
You guys just latch onto the developers nuts and repeat anything they say
So, let's see... First off, I've repeated nothing of what they've said. Your point is so far invalid. Secondly, paid game developers, which actually have credentials, which you don't, and are actually writing the game, which you can't (but if you can, please show me some examples), are making a game which will earn the company more than you will make in your entire lifetime, and you are telling me that it's bad to cite what they say? That's incredulously interesting. Let's just assume that thought process from now on and never cite credible sources. In fact, from now on, I will simply give all my defense from Uncyclepedia or this banana sitting next to my desk.
cause they are like your big brother here to protect you,
I can assure you that, had I cited anything from a developer yet in this argument, that it would not be on the basis they they are "here to protect" me. I largely rely on the government to do that. I am counting on them to make a great game.
but like I have said, there is no way to prevent griefing unless you play by yourself, you will be griefed regardless of PvP or not and you are only killing your only option of stopping griefeing that is by killing the griefer.
Good. So let's all work towards a grief-less future and make a better game this round. Make the problem less rooted. Take more steps to a good game. We can worry about the rest of the exploits after that.
IMHO, when I played DI I always thought of the ability to PK as like Friendly Fire and that it took skill to make sure you didn't tactically kill yer helper in the process of killing Diablo. People DID kind of use it not just for PvP dueling, but to then kind of exploit it for random PK'ing. Random PK'ing was kind of dealt with when the hostility button was used in game so you could tell if someone was going to attack you AND also you didn't have to worry about the Friendly Fire issue when you have the hostility button off.
So, IMHO, I do believe that the issue of RANDOM UNNECESSARY HOSTILITY is the problem. NOT the PvP itself. In reality, there are only rules to war that men place on it. War itself has no rules, is not fair, nor expected in some issues. Ask Kuwait in 1990. I notice that vladdracul was banned. By the way he was badmouthing people, if that is one of best examples for support of RANDOM PK'ing, then it is also one of the best examples to set limits and protections for those who don't want malicious players PvP'ing.
Wow seth im not even going to reas the rest of your last message, it looks like you had about everything covered that can be. As to whoever it was, they did in fact say there is no PvP as of now, they said and to the best-of-memory-quotes that
"Most inportantly the game is a co-op thing, anything that does harm to co-op does harms the game as a whole and is taken out." also that
"Surveyed in BlizzCon 2009 resulted in PvP being the lowest cared for thing, being the TOP ISSUE to only 3% of the people" and finally that "
They tried to implement alot of was to do and controll it, and couldnt, hostility is taken out of the game, its just plain out."
So Hostility IS the PvP and its gone.

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
Most importantly, we're a cooperative game first and foremost. Do no harm to the cooperative game is our prime directive. Anything, no matter how precious it seems, that harms the cooperative game and harms the idea of strangers getting together to kill monsters, anything that harms that, we take out.
That doesn't mean PvP as a whole will be gone, just that they'll work on it around cooperative gameplay.
I dont think you can really have a cooperative PvP unless you have the willing agreement deal... BUT another quite was... Ill go get the actual one now,
One of the big ones is that we don't allow hostility anymore. It's just not part of the game. We had talked about all kinds of ways to introduce it and control it, but ultimately we haven't found very many people who want it. We did a survey of our users who played the game at BlizzCon. We left out survey stations so they could give us feedback about what they thought of the game and what they were excited about. The lowest-scoring thing on the list of things they were excited about was PVP. It was around 3%.
Based on that, not alot want it, and they said straight up, HOSTILITY IS TAKEN OUT(not yelling, just noting for importance). To me, that sounds like PvP is out, how can you do it with no hostility?

They took out hostile yes dumbass. They took a survey asking what they were most excited about with d3 from the demo and guess what PVP WAS NOT IN THE FUCKING DEMO!!!!!! WHY WOULD PVP RANK HIGH ON THE SURVEY WHEN IT WAS NOT APART OF THE DEMO DUMB FUCKING GOOK?
Ok now dipshit since you are so mighty on diablo with 10k BS which is nonexistant and your losing exp from dying in pvp dumbfucker, why doesnt your bitch ass actually get on Diablo so I can make a west level 9 character and beat the fucking shit out of you.
Now seth you little dickless nigger. Why dont you get your bitch ass on as well so I can destory you and all of your friends and your shit ass clan Sick, who are all a bunch of random newbs.
