I don't llike the a idea of a class to limited to a weapon choice.
I'm also agains a skill tree that have a weapon choice as it base because it turns out to be impossible to to mix 2 skill trees that are weapon related. Ex: A certain class have a spear/poli arm tree, a sword/maxe tree and a spell tree. A mixture between the first and the second tree would be inviable once the class couldn't carry a sword and a spear at the same time.
I really liked what they did with the barbarian. The trees have it's mastery (berserker - dual wielding; juggernaut - two-handed; battlemaster - shield) but the special attacks of the tree are not weapon related (you can leap attack with a two-handed weapon for exeple). So the player have both the option of go deep into a tree or mix then.
I agree Italo, the only difference would be between ranged and melee weapons, where you either would switch, or would be looking at a dramatically different style of play.
So if a class has a duel wield tree and a ranged combat tree then it should be fine.
I believe they'll have one. It's such a draw to the casual player. Diablo without a knight-ish class would be strange.
Knights in shining armor are, imo, boring. The paladin was my least favorite class, because he had the least interesting skills... I didn't care if they also happened to be the best skills.
Besides, I thought the barbarian was the draw to the casual player. You go around and smash things, and don't worry about dying because you have high health and health orbs nearby.
They're trying to make the classes more unique this time... so I can't see them putting in another completely melee oriented character.

Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
