Heroes rise and fall in the Eternal Conflict. The Warrior, Sorcerer and Rogue that ventured into Diablo's cathedral in Tristram were all turned; the Sorcerer took up the mantle of the Summoner in Lut Ghulein; the Rogue, Bloodraven, became a vassal of Andariel; and Aidan the warrior became a new host for Diablo.
What about the Barbarian, Necromancer, Assassins, Druid, Sorceress, Paladin, and others from Diablo II? Do we know what became of any of them in the past 20 years?
I know I could wait for players to update the wiki. But I'm just too impatient to find out.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
All in the Forger's wake is left bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the dark Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

If you're lucky in having the right maps spawned. You DO run into the Necromancer in Act II out in the desert. (Not sure if it's THE Necromancer or one of his order but they are represented at least.
You ran into the Necromancer in Act 2, when you're hunting down Mahgda. He went off hunting for some ghost and was mortally wounded in the process. You watch him die as the ghost comes out and then you get to kill it.
The barbarian in D3 is the same barbarian from D2.
The Sorceress from D2 was the first teacher of the Wizard in D3. You learn that she ends up getting killed by mage assassins or whatever in the short story firefly.
That's all I know about what happened to the D2 heroes after D2.
edit: I think I remember one of the devs implying during a Blizzcon or interview that the druid was killed after the events of D2. Like he died in the crater with the shattering of the worldstone.
He [Necromancer] went off hunting for some ghost and was mortally wounded in the process. You watch him die as the ghost comes out and then you get to kill it.
... ... ... I officially hate this game. =[

I find it kind of like a big troll. So many people were whining about wanting the Necromancer back in D3, but Blizzard was adamant about keeping the Witch Doctor as the pet/summoner/black magic class that they just put him in the game and then made players watch him die, that way if anyone asked if the Necro was coming back they could say, "Nope, sorry he died last time."
Thats a different necro. His pupil, as he mentions in another event his mentor who battled great evil.
Yes, thank you!! Why do people keep saying he's the D2 Necromancer, when he clearly stated that he is a pupil of the Necromancer who fought the great evil years ago?

Because there are two different events: One is with a "Dying Necromancer" who gives no information about his past or who he is - just his mission to destroy some ghost. The second event is the one where you help a different Necromancer who clearly states (well the Journal you pick up next to him does) that he is the student of the original D2 Necromancer.
It is probable that the D2 Necromancer found himself multiple students in some sort of attempt to pass on his skills to others (since he knew the fight against the Burning Hells wasn't over).

If it makes you feel better:
A. The necromancer mentions his "master" fighting a great evil so it's implied this is a student of the original Necro
B. I've seen the event twice, in one he was dying and in the other he was alive. So it's apparently random

No. That isn't the same necromancer. If you listen to quest carefully you will hear him saying about his master and his accomplishes from D2 and how he knows that he can never achieve the power his master had.

"The first three were dead before they hit the ground. The others weren't so lucky."

Wasn't that she killed by the assassin from d2?
It was never stated that it was the same assassin from d2, just an assassin from her order.
The barbarian in D3 is the same barbarian from D2.
That was planned when the game was first unveiled, yes, but they appear to have sloped that. There is no mentioning of anything the Barbarian did in the second game in D3, and I seem to remember a blue post at one point saying that they didn't want to give the Barbarian too much of a "unique" story compared to the other classes.

Besides, my version of that quest, he did not die, and he was the pupil of the original Necro anyways.

I don't see what you're trolling about, since it was infact planned to have the Barbarian from D3 be the same as the one from D2.
