everyone here knows that diablo, mephisto and baal can exist without their soulstones right?
all three soulstones are destroyed, just because baals, wasnt destroyed in a movie doesnt mean that it wasnt!
tal rasha the mage is dead (so please dont post that he isnt, because he most certainly is DEAD!), and so is the warrior from diablo 1
the worldstone is gone
sin war is still going, but not as strongly as it was before diablo 1
jehred cain hasnt appeared since he captured Baal
belial lord of lies and azmodan lord of sin, are still at large
what happened to the sorcerer from diablo 1? (warrior = diablo, act 1 of d2 is full of rogues) [there was also a bard nad barbarian from hellfire]

also what if they have tyral become evil. he was the one who had us destroy the soulstones. there are endless storyline that can be made with tryal evil.

the sorcerer from diablo 1 is the summoner i believe, i don't remember all of the exact text that suggests this but i think jered in act 2 said that a man came from the west asking to study something under jereds palace and after that all the monsters came and jered didn't want to tell the city(lol of 10 ppl) about it yadada
Yeah, Bubo's right. They said that a mad sorcerer came in, found some ancient seal under the palace, got really anxious, then dissappeared a day or so later. They also said that he was as obsessed with it as much as our character is lol, and that he talked to Drognan heaps about it. Its assumed that he's the sorcerer from Tristram, gone mad from all those demons, seaking a way to get back to those demonic forces but this time use them to his will.
The rogue from Tristram also went mad and tainted from the horrors of the monastary, so much that she is implied to have become Bloodraven.
The three Prime Evils have been weakened because a part of them was destroyed/fragmented when their stones were destroyed, am I right? But, haven't they simply been sent back to hell, because they no longer have a fleshy vessel that binds them to the mortal plane? Also, hell is still appearntly in a civil war, polarised by siding between Azmodan and Belial. If the Prime Evils return, the civil war would end, and Azmodan and Belial would likely suffer. They need to find a way to get human souls to side with them. I'm actually suspicious that their plan all along was to destroy the worldstone, which would somehow make their soul-capturing easier. Its implied that Sanctuary is now at mercy to Heaven and Hell, with no barricade to stop them. That also makes me think that something has happened to Trag'oul, because he is very much connected to Sanctuary. Or atleast, he has a part to play in regards to the Worldstone, considering neither heaven nor hell know about him.

this makes me wonder what happend after the 3 reunited in kurast and diablo returned to hell and the chaos sanctuary. diablo 2 brought us to hell, but we probably havent even scratched the surface as to how many areas of hell there are left to visit; most likely azmodan and belial are in their own relms of hell respectively, maybe with their own sanctuaries?
the sorcerer from d1 became the summoner in d2 arcane sanctuary and the rogue became bloodraven. dunno about the bard or the monk though because theyre not really official blizzard characters.
speaking of d1, i wonder if that "adria patch 1.12" for d2 is true; adria gives 3 new quests in act 4 that relate to d3...?

The whole "Death" issue needs to be answered in D3. Can the Three actually die? What happenens when they are slain? We do not know really, but it doesn't bode well for humnaity if they cannot be permanently destroyed, right?

Is anyone thinking about the posibility that by the actions we do with our character it will determine who we fight for and against. For example if you do bad things eventually you will become a demon and good things you become an angel. I remember this was highly speculated last year.
I see a three part story line going on at once. 1) The three are alive, but weak without their soulstones. So they band together to take back a civil war hell and march again on all good. 2) Beliah and Azmodan join forces, seeing the three alive and the forces of good coming to hell. 3) Tyreal (don’t see him going evil) leading the forces of heaven and good into hell against all evil to finally end it once and for all.
I'd seriously doubt Tyreal will fall to the darkness, considering he is part of the Angiris Council. He's practically equal to Diablo and his brothers. There are seven lords of Hell, while there are five leaders of Heaven (Angiris Council).
And yeah, us going to hell in Act 4 was very confusing. We somehow managed to land at a heavenly outpost, while Diablo went straight past them. I think he was heading further into hell, but he got trapped by that angel that talks to us right before we go to fight him, remember? He didn't intend to stay there and wait for us. So yeah, Hell is definitely huge.
And yes, their 'dying' definitely needs to be explained abit more. I'm pretty sure they can never actualy die, only be ridden from this realm. But I want to hear it from someone official.

It always comes up in all discussions, and most people seem to be in suppor tof it in some way.

That's pretty much also what's been expected, although I wouldn't link their weakness to them being without their soulstones, but rather to them having been killed.

I'd equate the Angiris Council only to the Three. They represent the pinnacle of the both forces. The Lesser Evils really appear to have no power except in the abscence of the Three, just as Inarius probably had very little power in Heaven.

True, that was a bit strange. I think he was organizing his forces from there and probably didn't expect the hero to come after him. For all we know, Diablo and his brothers really didn't know who or what the hero was capable of throughout the whole story.

Tyrael gave the soulstones to the Horadrim. Heaven created them.
But why would who created them matter?

It could possibly matter storywise since we know there was a certain amount of disagreement in the High Heavens about what to do about the Prime Evils and Sanctuary.
It could also perhaps better explain why they work as they do.
Isn't it a bit strange though that, out of nowhere, Izual suddenly comes up with this great plan for beating the Three? Wouldn't you think the Angiris Council would have been slightly perplexed at the very least?

It wasn't so much of a plan to beat them as it was to contain them, as naive as such a plan would be. I think the Angiris Council would be too myopic for Izual not to pull of his plan. And they probably had the notion at the time that most angels are incapable of defecting with the exception of Inarius. But Inarius' defection wasn't for the sake of the Prime Evils but for himself.

That is probably true. I wonder if any demon will ever leave Hell and join Heaven in much the same way?

That would be something, fresh too, I can't recall of a demon, err... what's the opposite of 'falling'? 'rising', nah that doesn't sound right.
Reforming? err... I think you have to be good, then go evil, then go back to good for that to apply. How can you reform, if there is nothing to reform too?

But we at least know that demons can act totally independent of the Prime Evils, and in fact, frequently do. I could see a lesser demon defecting to the forces of the High Heavens if the demon felt he would benefit from it in some way. But it is also difficult to see the High Heavens trusting a defecting demon for any reason.
Yes, demons often allign themselves with whoever is the most benefical to them at that time, and more often than not this is either the Prime Evils as a collective or prehaps on of the lesser evils, more than likely Belial and/or Azmodan as the toher two are in fact dead.
But siding with the High Heavens, temporarily, is prehaps not out of the question, they may even betray them to further their own self absorbed plans for something.
