I was mostly speaking to Ferret in that comment. But this guild really is meant for Diablo 3. Playing D2 now is like beating a dead horse for me.. Can't do it anymore..

Well then, you have a good 4 years of inactivity until Diablo III's release most likely, so I'm glad you've been a wonderful addition here. If we just sit around and do nothing in the mean time we're not fulfilling the guild's full purpose, anyway- to prepare a guild for Diablo III. If people aren't being active and recruiting, we're not going to have much of a guild by the time it rolls around.

I dont see what doing runs in Diablo does to prepare us for Diablo III...

ok good point. but who do you think will play diablo 3 the most. people who are diablo fans. and diablo fans at the moment, will probably be playing diablo 1 or diablo 2. and to get are name out there and recruit for the upcoming diablo 3. we could do runs to attract people who play diablo 2 and want to play diablo 3 when it comes out.
Does anyone know a diablo 2 (normal) install download? I would like to join SICK but I've lost my horrible d2 install disk. I have d2 lod disk, but not the install for d2. It makes me cry...

Well, [thread link="Adala"]this[/thread link] is what I think... It kinda already answered that point...

Uh, he never said that. His point was that it's important to build a strong base for the guild. When diablo 3 comes out, SICK will have a difficult time establishing itself if it's stale and unexistent. If it establishes itself in Diablo2, then the conversion will be more successful. He's talking about planning SICKS success by progression. NOTHING TO DO WITH BAAL RUNS.

Actually he made a bad point. Well I think this thread has motivated Elfen, Silver, Ferret, and Thasa to discuss it more. So I'd expect somethings turning soon.
BS and we all know it. People categorize those that are active by means of doing runs with the guild. If people are on every day and doing runs with people, they are considered active and therefore 'useful'. If they aren't doing something closely related to being on Diablo 2 LOD and doing some type of Chaos, Baal, or other run, they are considered inactive and 'useless'.

Well that's slightly taking what I said out of context. Don't get me wrong. I personally think Diablo 2 has hit its wall. I don't think it's the game where you can really contribute much to. I was simply elaborating on his post a bit more, since he was not referencing runs, but many factors that a Diablo guild has. You're just logically concluding that 'runs' make up the chemistry of the game, so therefore it's difficult to contribute. There are several ways to contribute. For one -- playing together period. Questing together. Mfing together. Doing hardcore together. Just doing things as a guild, in unison. Guilds can offer more than just runs.
By the way, Murderface's recommendation is one of the better ones. I could see the Eastern Sun mod really revitalizing the game.
Lol, Link I like how you say take it with a grain of salt after every post.
You could get a group of people together and only play with each other and only characters that they don't have experience with.
It would both A) be enjoyable as it's a new game kinda for them and keep people active.
But again, a grain of salt...
Well I don't see many grains of salt around here, so we should take all we can get. Besides, do you know how long you can play ES (even on single player) and not get tired of it? I probably spent over 500 hours and was still goin at a steady pace. Its like Diablo 2 on uber steroids. I swear.

I introduced Stormcat to ES. She introduced the forum to ES.
So yes, I know ES.
And ES got boring. Fast. I got to a third of the way through A2 in normal and stopped playing...
Well, I plan on contributing in game wise as soon as I get a computer that can run games. My computer, a few months ago, literally started smoking so I had to get rid of it. And just recently, did I get a computer that can do basic "stuff (>_>). Until my bro get his new laptop and passes his old one on to me, I don't have any access to games.

Then you didn't even make it to the interesting part of the game. Teh L00TZ! You didn't try all the characters with their new skills, you didn't see all the monsters. If you got bored that fast, the problem isn't the game, its you.Because plenty of people were playing it consistently, and enjoying it.

Okay, I don't want to confuse people here, or rather, I don't want to misrepresent my ideals here and look like an idiot.
What I am saying is that helping people become powerful so that they in turn can help more people become powerful and continue the cycle is what people on Battle.net want- it would be kind of stupid to dismiss that. What I'm saying is, if it's going to attract people, do it. Ferret, Bambi, Brett, many others, and I (I mostly just follow- still working on getting on my own two feet) do runs constantly, or rush people, or whatever- and you know what? We have fun. We do. When you do things together as friends it's fun- if you're not having fun, you're most likely not with a good round of friends. That's what makes Diablo II fun for replay- friends to do things with, even slow things like just running the Acts and difficulties.
I also was not EVER saying that if you're not doing runs, you're not active. I NEVER said that. I said it was a very good way of attracting new members- we've had constantly had people asking about the guild and such when we were helping them. People are always more impacted by deeds than words, and we are taking that to heart and actually doing things, while you people simply keep trying to rain on our parade. That's really what it seems like.
Anyway, SpanishBard was right on a lot of levels, and I have to say I'm glad we have someone like him around to interpret things from time to time. I'm sorry if any of you got the wrong meanings out of anything I said- I take full responsibility for my incompetence if that's the case. But anyway, there are tons of other things you can do. Mfing is wonderful for us- we do really share things and give stuff to other people that might be worth something but we don't really need (to other guild members.) Not that that's a requirement, and it should never be assumed as such, but it goes to show that people are more important than power and prestige to some people- and I'll tell you, those are the kinds of members you guys never want to piss off, because they're the people that ARE your guild. Period.
Just being there is fine, too. Even if you just hang around a leech, or talk, or anything- it all makes things "look" better. It really does. Not to say that looks are all we're striving for, but in all honesty, people will want to see activity. Do you know how many thousands of people peruse this site daily? And how many members do we have at the moment? 40-something? I bet you can see we're I'd be going with that.
I'm not telling you that you absolutely must be there- we need representatives on other games, too- but Diablo is where this guild was born, and no one, and I mean NO ONE, ever has the right to say that any game prior to Diablo III does not require attention from the guild. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust- it will start with Diablo and there it will end.
Edit--
And actually, here's some more:
These things you guys like to do- the Iron Man runs and such- they're good and people have fun with them- but sealing yourself up in private games and only interacting with other guild members is not going to help this guild grow. That's what I'm interested in and what I'm working to see. You have no idea the amount of things I hate (or hated) horribly about this guild, but for some reason I just felt compelled to join. And why? Because I saw the people here- people who had a somewhat lax view of seeing the guild returned to a state of former glory. That will was there, and still is, and I know that many of you still want to see that. But I'm telling you, we can't just wait two, three, even four years for a game to come out to suddenly become active- we can't blame inactivity on real-life issues constantly and maintain high positions (or positions at all) within the guild if you're not going to be any use for some time. Please do not take that previous statement to an extreme and dismiss this "grain of salt" out of hand. Being spread out across a bunch of different games also does not help- Elfen and the others were right to make a uniform server for us on Diablo II. I hate it because I'm working on a completely different time zone, but I can see clearly why it's necessary- and that same principle can be applied to multigame hosting. We simply don't have the numbers for it at the moment. Not to say you guys shouldn't play other games, by all means, do it, because guilds are as much about fun as they are a future, but do not go and say "SICK is dying" when you're off in some odd corner of some server of a non-Diablo game without a tag of any sort working for a different guild, and you are perfectly able to make a difference. That's an extreme case, but at least some of it is true for a lot of members. I'm begging you not to dismiss this, please think about it if you're really here for the guild, or you're just here because you've been here for years, or just because you wanted a cool custom siggy, or (the list can go on and on.)
I've wanted to leave this guild many times- a lot of times out of anger against superiors, a lot of times out of anger toward inactive members, a lot of times to stupid rules, a lot of times to people who have good ideas but are too scared to do anything for fear of loosing brownie points, and, occasionally, because of a lame name (oh, there go some more brownie points.) But, in the end, I know these are things that can be solved if people are willing for change, and are willing to be a part of that change.
I started HCladder again today. I will be rising to greatness over the next 2-3 weeks Necronergal Get on asap. anyone else looking to play some Hc ladder then let me know
