I think raising the attributes is a little much, how about it just has the extra effect only?
I agree though. BIS should always be self found. Trading can still be in the game along with the AH/RMAH, but it shouldn't be the way to get to the top. I shouldn't just be able to open up the RMAH, buy a perfect mempo and that's the end of it, I'll never find a better helm. It would be nice if you went on the diabloprogress page and all the top players actually earned their gear, not bought it with flipping money or RMAH money; and I say this as someone who got to where he's at through flipping and a little RMAH too.
Blues are reading this forum, in particular the suggestion threads. But just reading, never replying, and hardly ever mentioning what exactly they read or thought about it. But if you closely followed all suggestion threads and compared it what was revealed at Gamescom, there were some overlaps ;-)
This is also a suggestion that wouldn't spark an interesting answer from a blue poster, not even Lylirra on Twitter. The only person who I think would really be willing to give something away about this is Josh. And probably not before Blizzcon.
=> We have some "celebrities" at DiabloFans that might be able to get a 1 on 1 interview with Josh at Blizzcon, because this is what happened in Europe as well (Athene, KingKongor). Maybe those from DFans who have a reasonable chance of ever meeting Josh can put this in a nicely self-found related question and ask him when the opportunity comes?
Such as: "There was an amazing idea mentioned by DiabloFans user WarlockHolmez to give some legendary self-found items a special bonus, he called it 'pristine', which wears off once traded. This would promote self-found play a bit more and contribute to your efforts to turn players away from the AH. Any thoughts about this idea?"

This is something I've thought about. They need to be strong, but not too strong. Whatever gives them 50-50 use vs AH in my opinion would be gold. Obviously all the numbers can be moved around to find that sweet spot.
Uhm, OP, if it's possible, try and make a thread on the d3 us forums, maybe eu as well. Maybe more people will read it and thus increase our chances of being heard.
I would like to.
Just wanted to wait a full day to see what kind of reception it gets during prime time. It's been pretty good so far, we'll see how tonight goes.

Just a suggestion;
To get a better reception, present your idea but do so without suggesting exact values etc. That's the kind of thing that distracts from the point of your idea. People will end up arguing back and forth about the values you suggested as opposed to the merits of your idea.
Once it's up, link it here in this thread (both in a new post and go back and put the link in your OP). Then we can get folks from Dfans to saunter on over there and 'like' it.

Thank you. I was thinking about doing that with this thread too.. Seems there were quite a few distractions here as well.. It's all about the concept, not the specific numbers. I threw 20% in there to make it seem strong, and show a good example, maybe it was too big.. I think it's decent

Yeah.....people can't see the damn wood with all those trees in the way. Over at Bnet, the incessant distractions would be far worse. Maybe multiple examples with varying values, not sure, but I think the idea would go over well and be a far more constructive avenue of discussing self found than what is currently going on over there.

Completely agree. You could just say +x% (value to be determined) or something of that nature so people don't fight over what the numbers should be.
Really cool idea, and if the the mystic upgrade system wasn't going to be in place, I'd fully support it.
However, I think what you are trying to achieve is almost fully being realized with the Mystic. While at the moment it seems the stats that are reforged with the Mystic can't be higher than stats that drop (such as your system), the reforging still creates account bound items, and will potentially make an item better than one you can get on the AH.
Nice idea and well put together, but I think it's redundant given the Mystic and reforging.
But if the solution is performed by the Mystic, you could still purchase items off the AH and then personalize them, which is a much worse scenario.
Not really, because once you personalize them, they are then BoA, effectively taking them out of circulation forever.
If the wanted to actually DELETE the AH, then they would. They don't want to completely ruin it, they just want to let people find their own loot.
With the current implementation of what we expect to see with the Mystic and RoS, the vast majority of people *should* be able to effectively hunt for their own loot. When said loot is found, in this case legendaries, and it's good enough that the player wants to try and upgrade an affix to make it better, then bam, it's BoA and will never see the AH. If it's not good enough, then the next stop for the item should in a perfect world be the salvage button. I'm banking that the new legendary material with go hand in hand with crafting that's made attractive enough that people won't just throw it up on the AH.
I can see how your idea is good I just feel that there should be a way to trade very good loot, if the best loot in the game was only self found then there would be very little incentive to trade, maybe in the beginning and after that it would be for side grades. I mean i know RMAH is crap at moment but there are always going to be people that are willing to shell out 2000 dollars for an item. Also if self found loot was the best it would play a lot more on people playing 10-15 hours a day which you cant expect people to actually do.
Regardless of how loot 2.0 turns out, the ah will always be to go to place to farm gear, unless we shift the end game towards finding the best gear by yourself.
And there are 100 ways to do that without making self-found loot significantly better than traded loot. Thank God that Blizzard understands this and it's the whole point of Loot 2.0.
1. That is the very reason why even with loot 2.0, nothing will ever change, the game will still be pay to win.
In all seriousness, what insider information about Loot 2.0 do you have that none of the rest of the Diablo community has that you can say that with any degree of certainty? Don't you actually need to know what Loot 2.0 entails before you can come to such a sweeping conclusion?
Or would you like to share all the intimate details of Loot 2.0 with the rest of us so that we can really understand why it won't fix anything?
I get what you want. I, too, want self found to be better (I truly don't enjoy using the AH regularly). But I don't see how you can make conclusions about a system that hasn't even been presented to the public yet and I see absolutely no reason that Josh shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt on this one. He clearly is trying his ass off to "do right" by the community and it's kinda self-serving to be second-guessing his work before we even know what the hell he's done.
mean, they've been working on those legendaries for quite some time, they were extremely proud of those specific legendaries that they showed at gamescom
I'm curious why you assume that the few legendaries they presented at gamescom where the ones they were most proud of? Isn't it pretty common to release as little information on these sorts of things as possible and thus they would intentionally only have the more simplistic legendaries during an announcement... Atleast that's how I imagine it is.

Expect a rocky reception at first. Civil discussion is not the forte of the Bnet crowd.
