Instead of them making us able to play our way, with no sets, with abilities ( builds ) that we want, they just increase stats on existing items and call it developing.Jesus f Christ i wanna punch myself in the .!.
How can someone so retarded be paid 5+ figures a month probably.God damn it
Primals aren't very creative, but it's better than nothing. I honestly don't undersand all the whining on this.
We knew from blizzcon, that we wont get any new stuff mechanics wise, they just added it because it was easy to do and it kidna extends the time some of us will play seasons. I like this much more than paragon grind and I'm glad that we get atleast this.
For those worried about disparity between casual/hardcore: why do you care ? It's not like hardcore player will ruin your game somehow. For pushing GR-s everyone is on the same boat, it's not like suddenly those "hardcore" players will be more hardcore and start playing 30h/day. Sure if you push for top 10, you will need to play alot ... oh wait you need to do this now too due to paragons.
With ancients system and crafting/rerolling through cube, gearing is super easy, i think around paragon 1k i would have full ancient gear with very decent stats, getting an upgrade after that is almost impossible. Primals will be some kind of a carrot on a stick that will make me wanting to play more at that point.
There are 2 problems with primals that might arise tho:
1. We will need alot of rerols to optimize gear - that means lots of forgotten souls - would be nice to have like more souls from salvaging ancients/primal or from doing some events in game
2. Augments - some people will wait till they get primal item to augment it, and that might cause alot of frustration. I would like to see the way to transfer augments from item to item, or even from item to gem, so we could put augments on ancients and the transfer them to primals when we got those
Guys, I don't get these complaints. Yes it's not a very creative addition but it's not like we're getting this tiny addition instead of something awesome. We're in maintenance mode and only have a small number of people at Blizz still working on Diablo. By now everything we get is a bonus. And the armory feature for example is a huge QoL improvement.
About intensifiying the grind, what's the matter? 24/7 players will have the same relative power as before. Some sooner, some later, that's RNG, but by the end of a season I expect players with equal playtime (above a certain threshold) to be equally strong.
What I would like is an option to only display ancients and or primal ancients in guild chat. I like seeing the nice finds of the others, but they get flooded in all the trash.
and it's why I was farming bounties to re-roll Tal amulets recently.
Don't know what you're getting faster, but I prefer the reroll set item recipe for amulets. Feels like a small cheat everytime as it avoids bounties. Soul cost on average is about the same. I know it can't roll ancient, which to me doesn't matter (for amulets).

I want an ancient one to be able to augment it All other pieces of my Tal/Vyr gear are ancient, well-rolled, and augmented. Have an almost perfect non-ancient Tal's ammi, but want an ancient one.
I just need item goals to grind for. And primals finally give that to me. My first thought yesterday was like everyone else - "wtf"; my second thought was "well damn, so no point in playing until 2.5 hits". But now I can't wait to upgrade my NS gear Giev patch now, S9 is over anyways
Does it really fix anything with the game? (for those who think it is broken) Nope. Are the devs maintaining that this is the ultimate fix? Nope. Just more stuff for people to aim for, if they choose to. The forums have been filled with people wanting more of an item hunt, and this is one step in that direction. Could it be a more inspiring step? Sure. But that doesn't mean that this is the final step, either.
Since they do between ancient and non-ancient, I assume they would follow the same trend between ancient and primal-ancient. Seems to be the case for most stats. Certain ones like cc, chd, as, cdr, resource cost, area dmg are still capped at their ordinary numbers. Primal thorns sader would be beastly with all that extra thorns damage.
This potentially opens up the ability to not rely on set items... Why are people complaining, you did the SAME THING on Diablo 2 hunting for that PERFECTLY rolled item...
Well this is great because many of you in the community complain that seasons are too easy to get your set and whatnot. This will truly differentiate the casual players and the players who play regularly. This will be great for the leaderboards. You guys just complain way too much. Just play the game man. Be grateful they're keeping us updated with the things they're doing. You guys expect shit to come out immediately after they're announced. Go slay some fucking demons while you're waiting.
Does nobody realize that this is actually a good thing?
Paragon will now be even less important considering the diminishing returns on mainstat...
This is a step in the right direction people!
Exactly, this makes the game almost entirely a loot hunt again, making the diminishing return on your stats pretty much nullify paragon levels 800-3500
Meh. Ancient Ancient legs are one of THE worst ways blizzard could have introduced more power creep. There are so many more numerous ways they could have introduced extar power creep, some of them actually interesting (I.E. cube a non-jewelry/6 piece set bonus, add extra cube slots opening up far more builds, move gems to the cube and opening up additional gem slot progression, adding runewords, adding a 7th ability slot, ect).
But NOO, they just have to go with a RNG-based primary-stat increase. instead. Let me see, so now everyone will have, more primary (Vit/Str), more Thorns (Yay Thornssader! and LoN Frenzy barb. And couple other Crusader build... Maybe we can see an actual WD/Barb set in the future using Thorns in an interesting way?), more Armor, and more Res. And, of course, LPH and other healing stats - Not as impactful though.
It also doesn't really solve Paragon Problems - Yes, more Primary through Ancient Ancient means that Paragon lvls will have diminished increase on your dps - But, really, unless you are the son of RNGesus, the dudes with 3k paragon are going to have many, many, MANY more Ancient Ancients then dudes with 800 paragon. So, as it should be, those who play more will STILL have an advantage other those who do not play as much - Even moreso then now, given that they can sacrifice more defensive means due to the increased toughness that will be on gear then now.
Also, looking forward to the QQ of "MY WEAPONZ NOT ANCIENT ANCIENT I CAN'T KILL SHIT CHANGE THIS SHITTY GAME BLIZZ".
Sure, this isn't the most exciting change, but it's necessary.
Full decently rolled ancient gear can be obtained after perhaps 100-200 hours into a season if you work straight towards that goal. At that point, with full level 80ish augment you can expect to have about 16k mainstat points. An additional 200 paragon levels gives another 1k mainstat points yielding a 6.25% increase in damage (and some associated survivability). The rate of return on this does diminish, but pitifully slowly. At 25k main stat points (around paragon 2600 or so) an additional 200 paragon levels is still giving an additional 4% damage increase.
By the time you have full augmented ancient, its going to take considerably longer to squeak 6.25% more damage from gear upgrades than it would to grind 200 paragon levels. If you ever get 2k+ paragon your gear would probably be nearly capped out. It's unlikely to even be possible to get 4% more damage out of gear upgrades by that point.
The end game progression turns into nothing more than a horrible slog of grinding paragon. There isn't isn't even another option on how to progress a given character let alone a competitive or compelling one.
Introducing super rare, more powerful versions of existing items greatly extends the longevity of the item hunt. I'm not sure it would extend all the way up to 2k+ paragon, but it would easily extend to 1500ish if not higher. Super rare meaningful items are necessary if the item hunt is ever to compete with the paragon hunt.
And besides, implementing primal ancients isn't exactly a huge time sink for the dev team. This is an easy and necessary improvement. It will shift the mid and late game back towards item hunting and further delay the importance of paragon grinding until levels past what most people ever achieve in a season.
I definitely want to see more new items, better balancing of builds, and other horizontal progression options. But for vertical progression, the benefits of implementing primal ancients FAR outweighs the costs. It's a no brainer.
Wow i wanted to share my love for this patch and then i had to read the first 5 comments. WTF!
Lucky that bagstone came with a quality post to get my mood back, thx ;D.
Exactly that was the same thign i thought when i read about prime ancients.
I mean we might get this feeling back when a prime ancient drops that we had in d3 !
Also some quality of life changes for the bounties are made (bye public failing guys)
Instead of them making us able to play our way, with no sets, with abilities ( builds ) that we want, they just increase stats on existing items and call it developing.Jesus f Christ i wanna punch myself in the .!.

Well if i had to choose from:
- primals and no other changes
- no changes at all
I will choose primals.

Honestly I would have actually liked this idea if you couldn't craft them.
More or less neutral on this.

I don't know about you guys but I'm going to wait until they release the,

Just having some fun. Cheers everybody.

I know that I will never find Primal Ancient Weapon, but still, I think this is a good thing!

I wonder when people are going to realize that primal items are a nerf to paragon, not an increase in power creep.....
They're not mutually exclusive. It's a nerf to paragon AND an increase in power creep.
