In the next installment of what's happening in the development of D3:
I LOVE it. Maybe it's because my love of RPGs like Final Fantasy and such. Whenever I use a weapon for ages and notice that my crit would be like 200 damage and then after working hard and saving up for another weapon and notice that my crit is 400 damage makes it seem like you changed your weapon instead of Diablo 2 where I never really felt the change in weapons in terms of damage and how fast you killed the enemies.

Pretty sure that other than a crushing blow, only Assassins, Zons, and Barbs had a crit attack.
So you basically know how much damage per hit you do anyways, so why would you need to see it?
it wont probably be there later on, if the damage size stays consistent, the little numbers would be saying something like 49032 for every fireball a sorc launches, and ww? that would be to much..

I love the floating numbers. I may wish that they were quite a bit smaller (more in line with Titan Quest) and was applied to all attacks (and not just criticals), but there's no such thing as too many stats being shown.
That being said, of course it should be a toggle.
DPS isn't a hidden stat. It's the solution to a mathematical equation.
An equation that doesn't really matter much when you kill four or five things per swing anyways.
Certainly hope you can toggle it, really hate it, even if the information is useful. Rather not feel like I am in some cheap slot machine or arcade fighter with numbers flying off things.
Yep, I also think that Blizzard will give you an option to turn those numbers off. It probably won't be available when the game is first release but probably later on as a patch.

I like the numbers... looks pretty sweet in my opinion. I really do hope that you can toggle things on or off easily in D3. That way everyone will be happy =D...
But don't you want to know when you are doing a critical hit? For example in D2 LOD, you never knew when your amazon was shooting criticals... I think these floating numbers couldn't be done any better, the color and font are simple and clean.

I didn't have a problem telling. Only time crits mattered was on a boss, and you would know cause their health would drop a huge amount.
I've said it before, dps and damage scrollers are great for MMOs, but they fall in favour for action games. The game play is too fast, too hectic. You don't stand there hacking and slashing away for a minute or two on one monster, you skewer it in one blow and take out his buddy at the same time.
Just feels like a wasted addition.
Edit:
Give me a KPS ratio. Yeah, that would be an awesome stat.

I think they could've done better. Maybe a critical hit animation or something of the sort.
Well, 'tis a trifle subject, so whatever.
