i'd like to talk about whirlwind in diablo II.some people say that it's repetetive and boring which may/may not be true (i enjoyed the skill) but one thing im worried about in diablo III is dueling with the barbarians,as a barbarian only player and a reknown diablo II dueler im worried that without whirlwind,or a skill similar, barbarians will be naturaly gimped at higher levels and at dueling.in 1.10 barbarians were complete crap to be honest, good for BO,BC ect and thats about it.which was a sad demise for my favorate class.
I'm not sure what you mean... Barbarians in D3 have whirlwind.
Hopefully no class will be "gimped" in D3, they will balance things out, or at least they're going to try.
Ok, the barbarian can be the same and have a daughter (wife or any relation), and tried to rebuild their homeland...
the prime evils were destroyed and the barbarians are enjoying the peace until the meteor incident when he goes back into action and meets with his old friend Cain knowing what is about to happen you know...he did this before think of it as some movie where the world needs its hero again, and their hero surely is the
BARBARIAN!
I havnt read past page 3 so i don't know if this has been answered but I do believe that it is the very same man (The barbarian). In the gameplay video the barbarian recognizrd cain and spoke to him as if they knew eachother I think. Ima go check now again tho.
Yeah it is the exact same barbarian.
Barb: "Cain you still live?"
Cain:"Oh there you are . . . "
It's already SETTLED that the Barbarian we're going to play is the exact same character & person as the Diablo II Barbarian. I don't like it. It's ridiculous and inconsistant, but it's the truth. It's already been settled. It's ON THE VERY LAST PAGE PRIOR TO THIS ONE!
All I'm asking is that you don't start posting and beating on dead horses before you've READ or DONE A BLOODY SEARCH!

You know it's funny; I remember reading what that one blizz rep. wrote about the character classes they were making for Diablo III. I remember reading about how they "Didn't want to do a cross-over of any characters from the Diablo II franchise, and that all the characters for Diablo III were going to be unique and brand new for the game."
Yet, one of the first characters they introduced was the Barbarian. I'm not complaining, the Barbarian is an awesome class and a great character when thinking about hack'n'slash and all-out-melee, but I just thought it was kind of funny for them saying that, but the one class DID make a cross-over. It makes me wonder if they won't do the same for other unique classes like an updated Paladin or Druid character.
If they meant 'new', did they just mean the fact that they gave the class more unique abilities and powers? If so, that opens the door for any other character classes they plan on releasing in the future.

Why is it inconsistent?
Edit: So let's say that a group of six Barbarians that helped Cain out and ended up killing Diablo. Out of those six, two or three are still kicking around. And now they're in D3. I'm sure there's a good reason why you consider it to be so absurd, but I just don't get it (I'm honestly not trying to be an ass about this -- I'm just curious.)

You don't understand, it's not a barbarian out of 68770, it's THE barbarian, the ONLY barbarian who killed Diablo and baal, the one who did all the quests in diablo 2.
It's inconsistent because he his in diablo 3 and he forgot all his skills, and stats reverted to base stats.
It being elite skills would rather be a point for my argument, since "elite" skills are those that require the most conditioning and repetition, ultimately becoming those things you can do.. well.. forever, really.
Ummm.... Wrong. An elite skill in videogames is something that requires much more energy and is achieved at a higher level. Because it is a much more demanding skill it is NOT able to be used as frequently. Like Orb for the sorc, she couldn't just spam it there was a cool down time. The same would be done for any other elite type skill.

He is not saying you can spam it, he is merely saying that if you gained an elite skill, its cause your awesome. Even if he took a twenty year vacation he would still retain all the knowledge he had before, so he would get in top shape faster than somebody just starting out so a normal start at level 1 and get to level 99 system doesn't make all that much sense. And also I doubt he would get rid of everything, at the very least he would have tons of gold.
Just hope they add a good variety of skills, and there will be plenty of ways to make a good barb... unlike now.
We need some new information already though, hasn't it been over a week?
Hungry? Why Wait? Grab a Barbarian!
RIP: Demon Hunter: lvl 50 | Barb: lvl 60 (plvl 5) | Monk: lvl12 & lvl70 (plvl 200)
It was released on the 28th of last month I think... so over a week.
I can't wait to bust through tables, walls, doors, zombies, whatever gets in my path on a barbarian.

Seismic slam looks awesome.
and the new Charge too!
Yeah it is the exact same barbarian.

/agreed, but slightly more quietly
