i think the hero you play as in d2 is going to have a significant role in d3....you never know....the hero could end up like how the hero in d1 became diablo.
yeah, that would give it a real life-like feel... but that could take awhile, and if your like me, you wanna go kill monsters right away! but nevertheless, it is a good idea, dont get me wrong
lol yeah it would... but if your friends with some people your automatically someone elses enemy, so you have to choose your friends wisely
it would be a real twist in the story if decard was there in the beggining of the game, but sacrifices his life like halfway through the game, or gets killed or something... but there would have to be someone to take his place as information giver and item identifier (the dark wanderer? like Sylvos said) why, you ask? well if hes travelled a lot and perhaps he still has his memories, he would have had to got a lot of information from all that wandering
With so many different types of hero what class would the hero be i mean we all have different chars in which we have beat the game with whos to say that what type of char it will be personally i would like it to be like it was is d2 that ur char comes from a race and becomes hero on his on without any relation to former heros.
i like the idea of being a common villager at the beginning of the game, and you gain respect from people by killing demons, etc... but i like also to at the beginning of the game... to kill many and many demons hahaha....

Sometimes I drink a little beer, sometimes I make a little mess, sometimes I get a little angry, sometimes I kick your middle ass!!!!
Ya, i like the idea of gaining respect! its awsome and that would be a new little twist to the game! like you have to have a certain amount of respect to trade with certain NPC's! Starting out as a common villager is a great idea!

World of Warcraft - Finnegin- Level 80 Enhancement Shaman
The first guy was possessed by Diablo. He was the dark wanderer we followed in the 2nd game who transformed into Diablo in the 3rd act's cinematic movie.
By the way, I think our Diablo II hero shall reprise his/her role in Diablo III by becoming an NPC, sharing his thoughts, experience and suggestions to you, just like Deckard Cain. If Cain's going to be absent, then the hero is going to be a good replacement.
Who knows? Maybe we will play as the child of the Diablo II hero and perhaps that hero will be slain or captured or other such possibilities.
I'd be interested to start Diablo III as an unknown character, you know a nobody, maybe just an ordinary villager? Who would earn people's trust by doing extraordinary things (Killing some demons perhaps?) heroics and it could be great if we could choose his class as the game goes on, not just in the beginning. I know we earned people trust in the 2nd game as well, but there, we were known to be a hero in the first place.
dude thats impossible to have the character from diablo2 because there is 7 characters and they arent gonna put all of them in the game so u can talk to them
Obviously Blizzard would choose which character bested Diablo, which by the way probably is the Barbarian or the Paladin, judging from the glove in the Epilogue of D2.
I would like to see the hero return, but I would not like to start out as a villager. Definate classes are to be used, but the earning of trust and reputation is a good idea. It makes the world feel more alive. Plus it just feels good when those pre-programmed NPC's stand in awe of you
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
what about this... intro video * you see the 7 heros at a camp fire enjoyin themselfs from miph's, diablo's, and baal's demize. then cut to, miph's dead body. you see a soal rush out of his body and thru the roof into the sky.. then the same with diablo but a bigger soal... then baal but 5 come from his body.. then you see them group in the sky. as thay fly thay take an evil shape, diff for each. then cut back to the 7 heros. the barb happens to see something out of the corrner of his eye, the group then all look at the things in the sky and become alert! then in a flash the 7 soals are attacking the heros. the hero's try to fight them off but one by one thay get overtaken by the soals and turn evil, the barb be-n the only sain one left still fighting, finds himself being held back, when he looks its his other friends grabing and holding him down.. with the load cry of the barb he is finaly takin over by the big and last soal... then cut to all of them standing in a group with a dark aura and glowing red eyes looking at the town thats eye site away from them and then thay make there way to the town.. that would be were the villager can come in (you) trying to save his family from the now 7 evil worriors. the whole town is gone and the villager and his family are the only people left alive! right befor there certan death a big flash of blue light. then a big blast. the great tyrial saves him/her he tell explanes what was going on and seeing all your friends dead around you u take off in search for the dreadful 7... SO!!! thats what my thoughts were what u guys thing about that?

i think it is possible that some of the 7 chars might return, but hoepfully it isnt in the sense. X char is now a corrupted and or posessed monster i have to kill now. that would be lame, but it would be nice to see some if not all of the 7 chars in some way in d3.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
