Do you know which people i hate? i hate the people who say that skill respecing in d2 will "Kill class customization"... come on seriously.... anything blizzard says people will flame whine and complain about..
Aha !
Fantastic find man, hopefully this means we'll be getting more info on the patch soon.
About re-specs, I'm all for them.
D2 really needs to move forwards and make some good changes, this being one of them.
@Jamoose
*nods*
It really doesn't kill class customization, at all.
If anything, it promotes it since you can tweak your build to find your preferred one, and stick with it.
No longer having to choose the pre-defined good builds, since experimentation won't be as punishing, both in overall cost, and in time.
edit: FUCK !
Dimebog, accidently just took rep points away from you.
I'll see if any of the mods can fix that...

"One in every 10 million people can potentially have a headache from this pill." God forbid she is the 0.000000001% of having a headache.
Ah, well we'll see how they do it in Diablo 2. I'm expecting it to be similar to how they plan to implement it for Diablo 3.
The thing about respeccing is simply the fact that you no longer have to make multiple versions of one class. To some people that's great, to other people that means they can only play the game seven times in total.
Only play the game seven times in total? no one is forced to use the respec... thats just a bad excuse that people made up... it wont differ, seriously...
Agreed, I hate to use the "Just don't use it" argument, but it applies completely here.
If people want to make multiple characters, there is nothing stopping them.

i don't like it.
removing the consequence from the choice devalues it, and something important to the identity of the character is lost.
it's upsetting to me, but guess most like it.

they'll never see me coming.. life is a sequence of tragedies, inconsistent only by fleeting, elusive moments of pleasure,
serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.
If nothing else it'll be a way to sort of see how it will 'feel' in D3, as re-specs will be a feature.
I get both sides to this, but honestly it's gotten to the point where it's not appealing to have to start over (especially since I don't rush-rush) and level for hours and hours just because I want to try something out.
There's a line to be crossed as far as making to too easy / frequent, but it sounds like they're going to keep it limited in some manner, so I'm not worried about that happening.
I dont like it. Takes a lot of Struggle out of the game. Nothing like a new ladder reset and desperately saving skill points for later higher lvl skill use and using basic skills to work ur way through.
Now ill just assign skills early, walk through the game and respec to my final build later.
I'd put money even now that they've considered the balance issues that will be created by allowing re-specs; that is to say, realizing it'll be 'easier' because people can pump skills as they level early on instead of saving them and going through the game with a bunch of 1-point skills.
I think this is a good thing, too -- offering more reason to use / pump up some of those earlier skills. The reasoning of basically saving points until the last tier or so of skills has always bugged me.
*nods*
Low tier skills were completely abandoned, only being used for synergies.
With respecs, we'll finally be able to use them without being punished, and we'll be able to experiment more freely.
And as for the "no struggle" complaints... obviously it will be balanced, I would hope so anyways. I know I'm going to miss that struggle as well, but if they balance it correctly and don't allowe skill points to be rolled too frequently, I'll welcome it.

Since December I've been thinking that people were a bunch of perverts or something every time someone said this until I finally saw the video this is referencing. It wasn't really funny, but at least now I get the joke lol.
What?
Looks like I was in the same boat as you and you enlightened me
And I love this feature, by the way, even though I don't actually play online now. Posted the news in the News part of the forum but now one saw it. Didn't think of putting it there.
Wasn't this already confirmed somewhere else? As in its been common knowledge for some time?
Nope, this is 100% new. In fact until this announcement the only indication that had been revealed of any change whatsoever was that they 'might' be expanding the stash.
I dont even know what this means? Respect? And will it be an addon, or a change? Or is it just on the Battle.net? I have never used Battle.net, only TCP/IP or gameplay alone.
In the old days, before cars, we had to walk everywhere. Man, we had it hard then - it was a struggle, nay, *EPIC* just getting anywhere each day. It was tough! It built characters! And we were men, I tell you! Now, with cars, you guys just drive - where is the challenge in that, I ask? Cars should be banned!!
Awesome news! Makes starting an orber in classic much easier instead of relying on other players until you reach lvl 30. I hope we see more great improvements, it's a shame it took Blizz this long to finally impliment some decent changes into D2. Wonder if they'll do this for stats as well, they would have to fix the str bug so people won't abuse it more then they do now.

I agree with you 100%, partial respecs > full respecs.
