This smart loot discussion is really getting old. If you don't like it it's okay, but please understand that many people want to focus on one class at a time and are sick of getting "wrong main stats" that make items useless. In D3V many many many people were complaining that 1) items were universally useful for all classes, like trifecta gloves being useful independent of their main stat, and subsequently made items feel less connected to a certain character/build; 2) many items rolled wrong or no main stats, turning a really nice drop into a useless pile of crap.
If you play your barb to farm items for a wizard, you are not the majority. The majority of people plays their barb to get upgrades for their barb, and is not happy about an amazing badass sword of the pwnage with.... 500 int. Most people just want items to be useful for the class they're playing at the moment, and don't feel like switching every 5 minutes. If you looked through the profiles of people posting here and on other forums you could notice (with paragon 1.0) that only very few people had many classes leveled up to the same paragon; most people focus on one class. There are even people with 10 paragon 100 barbs.
For me smart loot is absolutely fine at this point, I'm not getting too many "smart drops" at all, it could even be more in my opinion. For what it's worth, I've actually given away more items to my friends (DH/barb) than I've found for own wizard. And if you think smart loot absolutely sucks and you want every item to be useful for the class you're NOT playing at the moment then just save those items, buy RoS, and ask the Mystic to flip the main stat. Done.
TL;DR: Smart loot is freaking awesome and a long-awaited feature that the community asked for. But as with every change, there will always be people who aren't pleased with it.
That is true. I switched to Enchantress now just because it's the easiest follower to gear up for me, being a wizard. That being said, another thing that is really great: followers finally deal damage and aren't just a dumpster for low-level legendaries anymore. What I did in beta to gear up Templar/Scoundrel was to switch to my barb/monk and gamble/craft items there. And of course, enchanting.
Aaaaaand, each time i complain about Smart Loot, the game says: "Stick your complain up your ass and have this legendary for a class you are not playing right now!" As soon as i started my game i got a Schaefer's Hammer with Int when playing my Demon Hunter <.<'
The positivity on this forum to me is discouraging....
Reason being I like D3 to be fast paced and I feel like all these changes are really slowing the game down.
I will have to try to right build for me in my next play through to find the right fit. At the moment I'm not feeling it but it might be due to difficulty / spec

First of all, just want to say, the strongest language I used about smart loot was "I think the smart loot is just a bit too frequent" and "I don't think this really does much for the game". I wouldn't categorize myself as someone who doesn't like the system - just someone who is neutral on it.
The thing is, whether drops are tuned to your class or not actually has no effect on your frequency of getting upgrades. It just makes the comparison process a bit more onerous by filtering out fewer items early.
Think of it like this:
You've been playing your Barbarian at level 60 for a while, and have seen 100 rare helmets drop. You are wearing one of those helmets (the best one, of course).
The chance of the next helmet that drops being an upgrade is 1%. It needs to be better than 100 previous ones.
Now it doesn't matter whether, due to smart loot, 50 of those previous 100 had strength and vitality and thus were considered for use, or whether under loot 1.0, only 5 of them did. Smart loot just increases the chance that this next drop will havestrength and vitality but less than your currently equipped helmet does.
Ultimately, I think it's an illusion. I got massive upgrades quickly yesterday because I was playing a sub level-cap character and it seems that it is now commonplace for level 40-something gear to have 200+ primary stats. That's definitely a significant loot 2.0 change but not specifically a smart loot one.
Anyway, like I said, I don't dislike it. I just think it will get a bit wearisome having to closely compare stats a lot more often in order to determine that an item is not an upgrade, rather than quickly filtering out a lot of drops,
Honestly I'm pretty good with it. But the problem with trading annoys me. I have 2 hours to decide if I want to trade or keep an item, and Today I was playing while my friend was out, and now he doesn't even get a chance to use the legendary I found? We're both 60(32) so It's not even Like I'm rushing him, It's just a friendly gesture and it's completely cut out of the game due to botters and hackers. Honestly when are they going to stop thinking of all the negatives and find something useful for the people who actually play the game. This is so annoying. I don't understand how you can eliminate an entire part of a genre and somehow justify it. They need to implement a friends list trading , or a clans trading or something where I can trade with people I know, and if they have to pull some league of legends shit where there's a period of inability to trade due to you not being friends long enough then fine, I only play with one of my friends so this isn't a big problem but not being able to trade him stuff at all is. Too extreme of a reaction to the AH. Very dissapointed with that one aspect of this game.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
They fixed everything I didn't like about this game.
So... no complaints here. Or none yet. Just having tons of fun playing Diablo 3. Been a while since I could say that... I like the sense of progression, that if you just play the game, you'll someday be in T6 with amazing gear. D3V never really manage to give you that feeling. But now you always feel like you're progression toward something. And the new paragon leveling speed is glorious.
Yeah, people will probably burn out in a month or two, but man, I'd rather have 100x more fun in a tenth of the time, than have a tenth of the fun in a 100x the time. Still, a valid concern, but I'm just going to forget about the loot wall and enjoy the ride for the time being.
I haven't played too much (about two hours or so), but it feels amazing. I had really good gear before 2.0 so I haven't, and most likely won't, find an upgrade at level 60. So, I will probably wait til RoS to really dig into it.
I'm surprised at how often build changing stats appear on items. Before you hardly looked at items before vendor/disenchanting. I find myself looking more closely at an item that doesn't have obvious green numbers when compared to equip, as you have to take into consideration any build changing attributes. Also, everything is worth picking up now, at least for the matz, and crafting is relevant. Like how the HC paragon points rollover when a toon dies. I was worried about losing Monster Power, as I really enjoyed trashing large mobs, but with the right difficulty it seems balanced and challenging.
Hi all! While I am new as a member, I am a long time lurker here.
I would like to share a bit on some of my thoughts on the new patch after a few days of playing. Do notice that I am playing Wizard as a main, which is considered to be the new "barb" apparently :P. Though I do play other classes, still. Also, my experience are limited to T1~T3 only.
1. I found that there is a larger discrepancy between elites and white mobs when increasing the torment level. It seems that white mobs are relatively the same - a few clicks and you can wipe them out. But the elites, man, these guys are tough. Which brought to my second point.
2. The dance between me and elites is far far more interesting - it requires a lot of instant analysis of the situation, and quick decision making. I remember many fights when I misjudge the situation, and use my teleportation too early, and get heavily punished by it. I am not sure if it is only me - but I feel that old affixes pale in front of the new ones? It seems better dancing in a "disco party" than being hit by, oh, I don't know, the posion enchant.
3. As for legendary, most of mine comes from white trash. I would say 30% from elite, 50% from white, and 20% of them I am not so sure.
4. I feel that people transiting the best are those being a bit flexible (both in their gear and mind set). For instance, my brother mained a tank barb. It has a very specific role in the party, and he is doing pretty well at it. However, it seems to be really really hard for him to transit out of that situation - he found some really nice legendaries, but without complete over haul, he could really use the legendaries.
5. I think I would get burned alive by saying this. I understand that for some people, it is really hard to switch their gears since they already fine tune their gears. But I wonder if some of the "I don't get any upgrades" are people refusing to see pass the sheet dps. For instance, affixes with +X% won't show up on your sheet dps, but if one align skills correctly, it is a dps boost (since it is multiply instead of addition, it is in general more than X% of damage boosting)! I understand that it is probably harder for classes other than wz to insta switch skills since some good skills would tied to certain elements. Or reduce resource cost - it in effect increases your total "spending resource time" - which is a damage boost, too. And reduce cooldown time would also increase your edps by hitting more often. I could even imagine some semi-perma-WotB build.
Some quick thoughts, I feel I get a good amount of legs from chests. My last play session I found depth diggers, from a chest, and they were a big upgrade over my legacy innas.
I also like the skill+ changes. It makes items way more interesting and I personally feels like it gives you some options and choices on gearing and building. I also like the new elites. Some can be tough, but I still feel like it is fun. I just wish there were more mobs to lay to waste.

I like what I see so far, however, I'm afraid that the game longevity will get shortened by a tangible factor at this rate...
