Just play a HC character. When you die, all of your goals will be reset.
It does sound like you have never played HC. You dont play HC to die, you play to survive. Even if you die your goals stay the same, you just have to work a bit harder to get to them.
Played HC a lot, and yes I know the goal is not to die...OP mentioned game is not challenging...and HC adds another dimension to gameplay. He also mentions pursuit of goals, and HC and SC goals are different. IMO SC goals are BIS gear and T6. HC goal first and foremost is to survive, and it changes your gameplay, builds, etc. I guess if he is looking for BIS gear and doesn't have a lot of time (self included), then end game SC goals are an unreasonable goal/expectation. Playing HC might provide a new perspective and keep the game fresh for him.
Thought about staying up till midnight, but based on previous launches I opted to get up at 4am for a few hours of play before work. Definitely worth waking up early for! Made it to lvl 65 in act 5, but man the drops were few and far between. Felt like I was outleveling my gear quickly.
Well as a hardcore player, I always clear all areas and side dungeons and I enjoy taking it slow. On PTR my characters got to the levels between 50-53 by the time I kill Diablo. On the live 2.0 my new character was level 52 by the time I killed Diablo. I have seen other people who just run the campaign as fast as the can hit levels between 37-44 when they kill Diablo.
The levelling curve is insanely fast compared to 1.0.8. Since you had to beat the game on Normal, Nightmare and Hell in order to reach level 60, whereas now you can pretty much do it in one campaign run. I am not bothered by it to be honest. I am really enjoying the dynamic level progression, since all monsters are almost equally strong and award equals rewards. I can just go and farm at my favourite area all the time. As well as farming, you can also just level at the same area all the time. Personally I am in love with this new system!
I was wondering how leveling to 60 now compares to pre 2.0.1 patch. Ignoring XP boosts and whatnot, if you played through the quest lines of Normal/Nightmare/Hell (3x4 acts = 12 acts), you would be near level 60. In general, would the same be true for 2.0.1? In other words, if I played
through the acts 1-4 three times, would I be near level 60, or well past it into paragon? I realize there are a lot of xp factors like difficulty level & bonus buffs that make it hard to compare. I just wonder if there is a large difference between pre and post 2.0.1, assuming you play solo on easiest difficulty.
I'm surprised at how often build changing stats appear on items. Before you hardly looked at items before vendor/disenchanting. I find myself looking more closely at an item that doesn't have obvious green numbers when compared to equip, as you have to take into consideration any build changing attributes. Also, everything is worth picking up now, at least for the matz, and crafting is relevant. Like how the HC paragon points rollover when a toon dies. I was worried about losing Monster Power, as I really enjoyed trashing large mobs, but with the right difficulty it seems balanced and challenging.
Sure this has been asked before, but how is MF & GF handled on gear moving to 2.0.1? Is it just stripped off and discarded like a prom dress, or is there some conversion to a different attribute?
I'd like to see the addition of being able to search your stash / inventory similar to how AH searches are done. For example, if I wanted to find all items that have Strength, I would select that and all items that have that attribute would be highlighted. For stash, any tab that has an item that meets that criteria would be highlighted, and items within that tab would also be highlighted. Of course you should be able to add multiple attributes to the search criteria like the AH. This would eliminate having to mouse over every item in your inventory/stash to find a particular item.
