I can't say for the lucky fellows here at blizzcon. With that noted, Blizzcon pretty much announce monk with 12 gameplay (theirs). Wiz,WD,barb have prettier looking same spell as before. They pretty much didn't do anything during art panel and press conference. Aside from WOW, SC2 they so little bit of battle.net 2.0. Thats it, no new cinematics/cutscenes and such. Anyone feel extremely dissappointed at this year blizzcon?
not me. im satisfied, and i got what i expected from blizzcon. they arent going to show off the whole game, and i hope they dont, i need some surprises once i get it out of the box.
small updates throughout the year, a couple mid size ones, and then the annual blizzcon reveal. im happy with that.
plus what they did show off this year was GREAT! who doesnt love the monk?
I am quite satisfied with what was shown at blizzcon between all of their games. I am very excited for the new B.Net as well SC2. Cataclysm looks very cool I can't wait to get some more info on the lore behind what happens in the story as well as get a better look at the new world.
As for Diablo 3 the amount of info that they gave out was actualy very cool a lot of new stuff was shown as well as clarifying some rumors.(will HC be in the game, as well as going hostile anywhere and town portals, shared stash and a few others) you need to remember Diablo3 is at least 1 1/2 to 2 years away still so they need to space out their announcements you can't throw all of your eggs in one basket
Not to mention the BlizzCon was basically the formal U.S. unveiling of the whole new zone, the Borderlands. They also confirmed things which I've seen threads created about over the last year- how uniques will affect character models, PvP balancing, the relation of PvP and PvM characters, Magic Find confirmation, essentially a confirmation of the Horadric Cube in Diablo III, confirmation of cows, and more to boot. I'm fairly satisfied. Like Zoltrix said, we have a year or two to go still, to a date I've been anticipating since the announcement. So far we've seen a good bit of Act I and we've seen the borderlands, and we're also only missing one character class now, which was said at the BlizzCon is going to be revealed in the coming year. We now know a lot of the game mechanics. The only thing we're really missing out on is the storyline, and I wouldn't want that revealed before it was released, anyway, or there would be no point to caring about it when I play the game.
I say skip the cinematics for now. The story is completely subject to change and we don't want a cinematic that makes no sense compared to the final game. That's why the announcement cinematic was just a jumble of random images. We don't want an Episode 2 to happen.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
I think most of my dissappointment at Blizzcon comes from confirmation that Cataclysm will be the 2010 release. I was quietly hoping that we'd see D3 in late 2010, but that hope is understandably gone now.
With the 2011+ release plan, the amount of info they released feels just about right. The game is still far enough off that it doesn't warrant much more than what they gave us. It is also always cool to have a little bit of insight into how to develop the games.
I'm really impressed with some of the info they gave on B.net 2.0, particularly the SC2 league system. I can't wait for that to come out, it looks like an amazing way to rank players.
I'm mildly satisfied...not overly disappointed but slightly, since 90% of my Blizzard interests revolve around D3 (semi-interested in SC2).
As far as 'revelations', Seth you're off slightly...there was a remark a couple months back where someone or other at Blizzard (not sure who, it was relayed via Bashiok posting about it) that confirmed Hardcore. It must have gone fairly under the radar as I still saw people asking about it -- but it's been confirmed for a while. Same with Waypoints, and we knew they were trying to get away a bit if not completely from TPs.
Also, re-read exactly what was said RE: Horadric Cube. They basically said they liked the mechanics of it to an extent but not necessarily how it was implementd; they actually said 'The bigger question is will crafting play a large role in D3--read into that what you will.' So it doesn't sound like the cube itself is coming back, but a similar / more involved crafting mechanic than we saw in D2.
We also knew they were putting a much larger emphasis on PvP -- they said it again, but didn't say anything further about how, so nothing new there. They also said they were going to go away from the 'Hostile Anywhere' approach, so nothing new there though good to see it emphasized again.
Not saying there wasn't anything new, but the majority of it was emphasizing things already confirmed or all-but-confirmed.
The other things that were new (Magic Find in the form of 'Luck' or whatever, the re-introduction of a tetris-style inventory, shrines to some degree, etc.) are very interesting, I agree, but I'm hesitant to get to into them as mechanics because they themselves show everything is cycling in and out of favor, so we have no idea how 'final' these things are, though I do enjoy seeing where Blizzard is going with certain things in these various iterations.
All in all, we got a look at what is probably 'Act II', some new monsters, a new class with some very cool gameplay videos..not bad at all, about what I expected really. I guess I'm just a lore fanatic and keep hoping for a little more on the story -- I don't want it ruined, and I know it's hard to manage both, but little bits here and there of where Sanctuary is in the time of D3 would be awesome...but I'm just another greedy fan, so I'll never be satisfied.
I got the feeling too that there was not as much info. Then I stepped back and thought, well maybe there just wasn't as much content. I mean you kind of have to think when D3 first announced, they had lots of "stuff" to show us. Now that we have gotten past that, it's more details I guess than actual "eye candy" if you will.
Everyone is right; they did cover a lot of questions that we have been asking for quite a while. Also, we are still not that far into the production; the game is at least a year or easily more away. Look at just little changes since last time; graphics for one (darker, more fleshed out, detailed), I read too that some skills were even completely removed while others were changed, tetris inventory is back. So, it's a work in progress, besides they don't want to give it all away and I'm sure there are lots of aspects in production right now (crafting, mercs, talisman etc).

Yeah, I feel the same way. What's disappointing to me is that the most exciting information was about infrastructure (battle.net) rather than one of the games themselves, and no info on the D2 patch. I do think the monk is pretty cool though...
They announced the biggest single Diablo 3 piece of info that they possibly could have. Sure they could have put in info to go along with that, but announcing a class is the biggest one piece they could have revealed.
Hah, I'm on board with the 'Really, nothing on D2 1.13?'
I get that it's old and not really a 'big deal' to a lot of people, but even just a snippet would be nice.
Their one answer on it (from the Q&A panel) was revealing, though, if you think about it -- there has been a lot of speculation on whether or not this new D2 content would be used to sort of 'bridge' into D3 a little, and from what they said that's almost certainly not the case, as if that was going on the D3 team would have to at least -know- about it, even if they aren't the Legacy team that is actually handling the patch.
Not a huge revelation or anything, but a subtle reading-between-the-lines thing to catch.
Yeah, but they also said that the teams work together to some extent for ideas and such, and even if that's not the case here I still find it hard to believe that neither team knows what the other is doing (D2 patch and D3 teams).
Exactly, there would have been -some- collaboration between the people involved with lore / storyline, if even just to make sure they weren't going to step on each others' toes.
I didn't really think 1.13 was going to do much if anything of that variety anyway, so it wasn't a big deal.
Still would have been a nice touch for all the hungry Diablo fans if they had said 'By the way, 1.13 goes on PTR this Monday.'
I've got nothing against WoW personally (go ahead, hate on me), but I am jealous that they basically get a new 'release' every 1-2 years. I understand why and all that, but it's hard to keep seeing their stuff year after year while we sit on waiting for D3 for years after announcement and even end-up strung along a bit on a D2 patch while the Legacy team is commited elsewhere. Diablo really is the red-headed stepchild of the franchises, hah... /OT rant off, I promise.
Pretty much everything able blizzcon is covered in diablo 3 monks page, that how little the information they give us. While others so called confirmation like MF isn't much of a "news" or if there's a new type of horadic cube. Others are more of a compilation of the news we heard after last years blizzcon. Besides, in their website they only give us 12 screenshots of the monk. There's barely any detail on the inventory or the item for those that didn't play the game at blizzcon. I would like to see a nice screenshot of the inventory atleast. (not the poor quality, blurry shots).
Sad is, I felt there wasn't enough Love for Diablo there. After reading some of the replys here I obviously missed alot haha. I didn't go to any panels or booths or pay attention to anything else but gameplays cause I can get all that stuff online for free. I can't however play d3 or sc2 online at home for free.

Though there was a lack of content in terms up cinematics and cut scenes they can't give away too much. Besides we still have till 2010 or 2011.
I hated the monk, I hated the lack of more info on the Rune system, and I hated the lack of details on the new mercenary system. I loved the Desert environments though.
The WoW expansion was okay but not very exciting beyond the revamping, crummy new races..... btw the Goblins racial mount is supposedly a Hot Rod..... Read it in the Gamespot news article.
Starcraft was so/so, not too much info, but the art panel had some cool things to show... so many different terrain styles... awesome.
