It seems that Blizzard knows what self found players want.
Looking through all the RoS features you can see that we will have mechanics in place that will support no-trade play.
However, after playing the console version of self found which basically throws everything but the kitchen sink at you. I worry that maybe blizzard will go overboard and mess up.
When I play self found i don't want upgrade after upgrade given to me every 30 minutes. I don't want to have 80k dps in act 2 hell mode... I don't want every damn legendary that drops to be a massive upgrade. I don't want to step into inferno on easy (mp0) with no paragon levels and get two freaking legendary weapons on one elite.
Yes a 1380+ mace (200+ Str, 200 vit, 10% Atack speed,100 CD & Socket) and 1150+ axe (with 450 str, 3%LS & 103CD) dropped for me within 30 minutes in inferno leading to the Skele king... THAT IS NOT HOW I WANT MY SELF FOUND TO GO!!! That is how my self found ends...
Self found for me is a slow burn, it slowly rewards me, its a challenging experience, a battle against the RNG. I'm being rewarded but i'm progressing in baby steps. Baby sets Blizzard... not 250K dps buffed after 5 hours in inferno...
Some examples of good self found? Diablo 3 on PC before you hit that 100k dps road block of doom... 50-100 hours of play slowly building up gear and wealth thats what i like. It's steady, its challenging, its relaxing.
Another one would be Path of Exile where i sit down for a three hour session find some nice materials, a spell gem or two and make some progress through merciless... simple nothing crazy that's what I like.
Another would be Diablo 2 where i progress slowly but the gear is good, game is challenging and I gain runes, gems and Xp as i play. That's good Self found.
I strongly believe that Blizzard will do self found right but man oh man does that console version have me worried that they will really, really screw up my no trade experience.
Am i alone in thinking self found should be like this? Are you guys worried at all that Blizzard might just go crazy and toss the kitchen sink at people?
While the console version has some elements of Loot 2.0, like scaled up legendaries and "less but better" drop rates, they know that the PS3/Xbox game can go overboard with stat inflation and drop rates for the fact that there is no economy and it's a more casual experience compared to the PC.
I don't have fears that the PC version will become a spoonfeed fest like the console is..... at least i hope so.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. The console version has no AH so I'm sure the odds of finding a good item are much higher than the PC's loot 2.0 will be.
It's intended, because the console version is just supposed to be a short watered down version that you play for a week to a month and then move on to the next flavor of the week console game that comes out every Tuesday.
When you continue to play and try to progress through the master levels, you won't be finding upgrades that fast. Stop coming to early conclusions and trashing the whole game. Inferno is not a joke on consoles, you can play master 5, it's still pretty hard. Sure, if you play a lot, then after a week or so you might be able to farm master 5 efficiently but that is to be excpected since the console version is supposed to be a bit watered down and casualized (even more so than the PC version).

Pretty hard? im playing a ARPG with no trading at all! I now have over 300k dps and face roll master 4... give me a week ill be soloing master 5 Ubers and two to three hitting Master V elites...
I'll be honest here but i think the PC gaming community and Blizzard really have the wrong idea about what Console gamers want... Not every console game is CoD... There are hard games like Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma, Monster Hunter, Ninja Gaiden and others on those platforms... consoles have complex strategy and rpgs like Disgaea and Persona that can be played for Hundreds of hours.
To release a game that is considered a massive undertaking on PC, boosting the drops so much that it becomes a 50-100 hour casual romp is a slap in the face to console gamers let along a pc gamer like myself looking for a slow burn type of self found experience.
I just hope for our sake that when RoS releases on PC and i return its not this horribly balanced mess im playing through on console...
But inferno was supposed to be a grind. It's even too easy on PC.
I played complete selffound with my brother. We play in the same session but only use items we find ourselves, we do not trade with eachother. We could beat inferno without stopping to farm once.
And think how easy it is to find those epic items that basically just roll above ilvl63 stats on steroids.
Inferno being easy is still a very SMALL minority for people. The MAJORITY of players in d3 can't even get past what like mp2? (making this up). Either way there is still a vast majority of players that cannot clear higher MP levels.
I'm pretty sure console loot is on overdrive in terms of better drops and items falling from the skies because they've clearly targeted the console market correctly in terms of providing a game where people don;'t have to invest nearly as much time as PC players do. I really wouldn't worry about this once loot 2.0 reaches the PC. You have to realize that while blizzard wants to distance people from the AH they aren't going to sell it out completely, they still want to make money and this variance in items and quality gives them this still.
it's simple. the diablo franchise = not a console game. i don't know why people are even bothering playing it, who already have it on PC... completely retarded if you ask me. that being said, in regards to your issues with finding gear... i have a simple solution for you... play it on PC, the way it was intended to be played
Just look at it like this. If you play self-found D3 right now, it's generally pretty agonizing. It's not just hard to find good items for your favorite character, it's hard to find good items, period. I typically play this game with 3 friends, and after reaching Inferno, I think we've found a total of 10 items to swap between each other. We aren't hardcore farmers, we aren't ridiculously efficient, but I mean, that's 4 sets of loot, and we're finding nothing. 400-600 hours of playtime on our mains each, and only one of us has ever found something truly amazing. Maybe our lucks just been awful, and you've had a different experience, but I'd personally rather see loot raining from the sky than never finding it at all.

Anyway thanks for reading.

Edit; I'm also playing console, and it feels awesome because I'm playing completely self found, and I'm not playing a lot.
I'm sure PC will be done right
